NerdyAarakocra They/Them Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 Il'anque looked through the portal.
Quivil Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 E;la walked over to the portal from... somewhere else
Channelknight Fadran Posted April 15, 2023 Author Posted April 15, 2023 Quote Someone summon me in awhile when I'm not sick and incapable of thought
NerdyAarakocra They/Them Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 @Channelknight Fadran? Quote Are you capable of thought now?
Channelknight Fadran Posted April 17, 2023 Author Posted April 17, 2023 Quote No, but let's do this anyways. "Polly?" Folkan said quietly, finger on his medallion. Seemingly no one answered - or at least they didn't have anything good to say, because he sighed and shook his head before standing back up to full composure to face the gathering. "Greetings, Reapers. It's an emergency, so I'll make this brief. An unusual number of Qualkans have been observed around Grestheide, and the brigade there has requested immediate backup for tonight's escort. Usually we'd have to decline - not enough Reapers to go around - but today we got lucky." He gestured at the group. "We have all of you. This will serve as your inaugural mission, I suppose. Try not to screw it up." @NerdyAarakocra @Tani @Frustration @The Bookwyrm @PyroPhile
NerdyAarakocra They/Them Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 "Question, if I may. What is a Qualkan?" @Channelknight Fadran
Channelknight Fadran Posted April 18, 2023 Author Posted April 18, 2023 Folkan blinked "I could've sworn you were taught on this."
The Bookwyrm he/him Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 (edited) Avi turned to Il'anque and gave her a look. Quote We'd better see some soon... otherwise pretending our characters know what the heck they are and where the heck we're going is going to be pretty awkward... "Anything else we need to know?" she asked, anxious to get moving. Edited April 18, 2023 by The Bookwyrm
Channelknight Fadran Posted April 18, 2023 Author Posted April 18, 2023 Quote I imagine them kinda like wolves but they eat dead people souls 10 hours ago, The Bookwyrm said: "Anything else we need to know?" she asked, anxious to get moving. "I'm guessing no Scythes?" Quote The first thing the Reapers learn is to never use their Scythes. Ever. In any situation.

Channelknight Fadran Posted April 18, 2023 Author Posted April 18, 2023 Quote Death's whole thing is ensuring that every soul has a fair chance at whatever afterlife it's going to; the Scythes completely destroy the soul
NerdyAarakocra They/Them Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 "Alright. Should we get moving?"
Channelknight Fadran Posted April 19, 2023 Author Posted April 19, 2023 Folkan seemed surprised. "Are you already ready to go?"
NerdyAarakocra They/Them Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 "Yes, but when that point comes to pass, everyone's souls will have been consumed."
Channelknight Fadran Posted April 20, 2023 Author Posted April 20, 2023 "Then we're going!" Folkan announced. The Gateway swirled back into life behind.
NerdyAarakocra They/Them Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Il'anque followed Folkan. It was time to fight. Wait, what was that internal monologue?
Channelknight Fadran Posted April 22, 2023 Author Posted April 22, 2023 Quote TIMESKIP IT IS THEN The Grestheide Reaper HQ was... smaller. A little bit run-down. The sun was small, red, and distant - dim enough that Kaeni could see a few bright stars at the edge of the horizon even now at close to noonday. Three moons settled overhead, one moving fast enough that she thought she could watch it orbit. In the darkness perhaps the shadows of cracks and wear were more exaggerated, but the buildings here - all packed together into a small, almost claustrophobic grounds - just looked so much older and more tired. But they were only there for five minutes while Folkan gathered his things from his room, including (most notably) a massive silver spear and a few daggers. Instead they were once again sent through the Gates to an open, empty field of tall reeds whispering about in the breeze. It was completely night here, with stars almost frighteningly bright overhead. A massive expanse of iron torches burning with blue flame spread out in a line for as far as the eye could see: the Warding Line, if she remembered correctly. It would be akin to a circle from the height of perhaps a mountain, but from here it was just a line. And standing amidst the fields were thousands upon thousands of faint white souls, wandering about in a thoughtless daze as they awaited their guides to the Gates of Eternity.
Frustration Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 "How on earth are you supposed to keep track of all of these?" Isek asked, "If one went missing you would never notice."
Channelknight Fadran Posted April 22, 2023 Author Posted April 22, 2023 Folkan sighed. "I really could've sworn they taught you all this..."
