The Harmonium symbol hasn't been wikified yet, but IIRC it was revealed as part of the Shadows of Self tour materials.

(Secret History Spoilers) Issues with Geometry?
Ari replied to TruthlessofNalthis's topic in Mistborn
That doesn't exactly make sense as there are specific directions that line up with specific expanses. (expanses being the name for specific areas of space that lie between worlds) If the Cognitive realm mapped three-dimensionally with the Physical realm, you would expect the planets' reflections to rotate with reference to the directions in the Expanses, which the existence of the map of Shadesmar for Roshar, with expanses marked on it, plainly contradicts. -
There were seers before Preservation started snapping people, so it would be very odd if they're no longer possible. More than likely they're not mentioned in Era 2 because nobody has any supply of Atium to try and find Seers in the first place. (although as a side effect of Mistborn being so rare, the economics of Atium would now make searching for Seers one of the primary things you'd use it for) My impression on the swapping out was that Atium Mistings and Malatium mistings were always possible, Preservation just deliberately chose to snap them instead of the Cadmium and Bendalloy mistings because it aligned more neatly with the proportions he wanted to make to drive home his message.

Depends how you interpret that phrase though. Does worldhopper mean "someone who has ever travelled between worlds", or "someone who routinely travels between worlds"? Seems more sensible to go with the former, but Brandon has been known to deliberately interpret questions to give himself leeway from time to time.

The book text outright states it should be pronounced like "teach", so...

Nazh's reaction to what Kelsier did should give you a clue as to how serious and rare a thing turning yourself into a cognitive shadow is. Kelsier's the only one we've had hinted at other than actual Vessels that ended up as a shadow.

Who says Frost still lives where he originated from?

That's a helpful WoB, and suggests that Moogle is right that Nicrosilminds do work like all other feruchemical metalminds. So the process got even more complicated, lol.

[Secret History, BoM spoilers] So, uh... what was the spoiler for BoM?
Ari replied to vineyarddawg's topic in Mistborn
Seems unlikely given how Brandon defines person. -
Theory on how odium is more powerful than other shards
Ari replied to Straw's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I'd say it's more like he's a rusher in a strategy game. He's been very careful with his available resources and used them in the most agressive way possible to facilitate Splintering as many shards as possible. -
Guys, this is why I stopped replying to this thread, lol. Thanks for trying, but I don't think Pathfinder really understands the difference between "the Dor is the power source for all Selish magic" and the other influences that Shards had or continue to have on those magic systems. You would expect the Dor to remain the power source for all Selish magic that draws from an external power source anyway, as they would recognise the Dor as Devotion or Dominion's power nevertheless, and reach for it, even after they were intermingled. I imagine, for instance, that if you asked a similar question to Brandon about Scadrian magic- is it all influenced by both Preservation and Ruin- he could similarly answer yes to that question, because for instance, you've never asked how influenced by each each system is, and you've never really clarified what "influence" means. It's pretty obvious in the story that Skai/Dominion has had some part in shaping the Dakhor magic, or that it was once associated with him. Likewise it is also pretty obvious that Aona/Devotion had a similar association with AonDor, as we have noted the two most obvious examples in this thread. You're welcome to continue to disagree, Pathfinder, the issue is that the evidence you're quoting is only related to the stuff we all already agree with. Everyone accepts the Dor is a mixture of Devotion and Dominion's power. That doesn't mean that the historical influences on the magic have suddenly evened out, or that the magic is not still influenced by powerful splinters that came from either Dominion (ie. the Skaze) or Devotion. (ie. Seons, and the voice from the Elantrian shardpool, which is possibly Aona's cognitive shadow)

You guys may be reading a little too much into the name. Just because the planet is named in lament of something dead, (which totally could be a shard, you're right) doesn't mean that if it was a shard, that shard had a similar Intent. For all we know they could be refugees from Sel.

There's some themes that come up later in the book that actually seem to explain this. The final step to making the weaknesses (relatively) inert is accepting the powers as part of you and taking ownership of them. Once you've faced the weakness in order to save someone else and taken that step as well, Calamity can't take back the powers because they're no longer controlled by him. They're functioning as they always would have if he had left like he was supposed to. So it's either that Megan had started to subconsciously view the powers as hers, or simply because she had faced her weakness.

Which is all completely irrelevant to the influence of the Intents of Devotion and Dominion. If Preservation had Shattered in Mistborn, his Intent would still have influenced Allomancy, even if the power stopped coming from his Shard.
-
I possibly could have worded that better, I am aware that IF their magic draws external power to work, it will be drawing it from the Dor. But just because it's the Dor that's powering things doesn't mean that certain magic systems on Sel aren't sometimes associated with the shattered remnants of Devotion and/or Dominion. A close reading of Elantris suggests at least a couple of ways in which AonDor is associated with Devotion, for instance, and the Skaze seem to be focused on followers of Wyrn, which as Splinters of Dominion, would suggest their magic system is likely to be influenced by Dominion's Intent as well.

Navy Seon might well be overstating his case a bit anyway, so I wouldn't entirely rule out your theory. Without any spoilers, I highly recommend once you've read all the other Mistborn books to pick up Mistborn: Secret History. It has some important context. Clarification (with spoilers for Mistborn: SH)
-
Yeah no. The Dakhor monks have their own magic, presumably one that draws upon the remnants of Dominion. (hence why monks have to sacrifice their underlings to teleport)

As a southern hemisphere resident, it's probably less confusing if you just refer to quarters of the year, lol.

Here we are, from Chapter 2 of Part Three ("Spirit") of Secret History: between the word Ascended and the fact she's referring to sixteen people, it's very clear and is said outright. Khriss definitely believes the original Vessels perpetrated the Shattering. It's not unprecedented for her to be wrong, but I think even that would tell us interesting things.

The contact page has a really slow turnaround, so you likely wouldn't hear back until after your assignment. I'd say tweeting Peter or Brandon might be a good approach if you're on twitter.
-
Uh, no. You'd still need a pressure suit to move between ships. Unless you like dying to explosive decompression. I'd say you're bumping it at worst, the thread is only a month or so since it was last replied to, and it's highly relevant that you have WoB about Drehy. Did you post to the relevant signing thread as well, btw?

I'd caution that we don't even necessarily know he's being paid. He might view himself as needing to pay off a perceived debt to Khriss, for instance, or he might have accepted his position in order for her sharing her knowledge. (which is not precisely "payment")
-
That sounds like it's possibly an implication of a "yes, but you have things the wrong way around."
-
Yeah you should assume unless it's really close to the release of something that Cosmere Theories contains unmarked spoilers for all things Cosmere. I'd generally give this forum a miss until you're up to date on everything. Also, I think if you're spoiler tagging threads for SH you should probably be very careful what you imply about Kelsier's status in thread titles, although this one is probably alright because we did already know pre-SH that Kelsier was a Cognitive Shadow. We don't really know enough IMO about the Cosmere 17th Shard to really say that Kelsier would have an affinity for them, although it might actually be a good sign that Hoid doesn't get along with them. (Did we actually see them in Elantris btw? Is that a new edition thing? The UK e-book doesn't have the new edition so I haven't read it yet) We've already covered that The Letter is confirmed as being written to Frost, a dragon, so Kelsier can't be the recipient, not that this precludes Kelsier being involved with the 17th Shard though.
-
I'm not sure there's really any extra explanation to be had at this stage, we don't really know enough about what's going on there yet. But yeah, we know that Khriss certainly believes the original Vessels orchestrated the Shattering. It could be she's wrong, although she's pretty well-informed on things Cosmere in general.
