It would be better if they learned how to outgrow their brokenness on their own. When two damaged people start fixing each other, they start to depend on one another too much, lose themselves in the relationship, make the said relationship what leads their lives and sure, we can have them being two half of a relationship, but I'd rather read about two people that are whole, not just parts. This is what I think and I don't intend to try convincing anyone. You have your own view based on what you've lived and seen and I have my own experience on topic. My other point was that a love triangle between Shallan, Adolin and Kal will be too huge part of the story since they are all big PoV characters. There's no way for this triangle to not take too much space, because their view points basically make 2/3 of the book and likely in later books as well.

Was it specifically stated about the old Radiants? Because that implies they can never live again.

As I said in another thred, Syl explains that spren are revived when those they bond go back to their Oaths So Shardbearers have bounded those spren, which is what allows them to summon Shardblades. Syl also notes that the men the spren are bonded to must go back to their oaths for the spren to live again. I think it's possible for a Shardbearer to adopt the first ideal and awaken his Blade and revive the spren. However, that would mean those SHardbearers don't really get in an Order according to their personality, but based on the spren they have as a Blade, which can be problematic and lead to forsaking oaths all over again.

Adolin Kholin, the uncut gem (WoR spoilers, right?)
Aleksiel replied to banestar's topic in Stormlight Archive
He hides from everyone as he appears to be just a pattern of the surrounding, like his natural status is being stealth. He's not hiding from Syl specifically. At least that's how I understood it. -
Adolin Kholin, the uncut gem (WoR spoilers, right?)

That was not my impression. He showed himself to be able to distract one of the Shardbearerd and then simply went back to being undetectable when the duel ended. -

Pattern didn't seem to care much about Syl, let alone purposely hide from her. -
Oh, I thought you were talking about something in WoR, thanks.

But Elhokar said they went away when Kaladin came. He said Kaladin scared away the shadows. So may be they were something else. -
I agree, but that would mean she purposely abandoned Shallan to deal this assassins on her own when she knows very well Shallan can't soulcast the way she killed those thugs in Karbranth. And I have hard time believing Jasnah doesn't care enough about Shallan.

Adolin Kholin, the uncut gem (WoR spoilers, right?)

That would be nice. I mean, he already has sort of relationship with his Blade, always talking to it. But Syl said spren are revived when those they bond go back to their Oaths, so I'm not sure if that's possible to rebond with another human. I still hope so. Edit: thought actually men have bounded spren in their dead form, that's how Shardblades can be summoned, so I think this point stands no more. If a Shardbearer acts as Radiant as possible, his Blade will most likely be awaken. I do not see why Adolin can't be a surgebinder. Not all surgebinders get to be Radiants after all. He is nothing if not confident and he has a sense of what's just. He spend time in prison because of sympathy for Kal, feeling how wrong it was to have him captive. Adolin went all Nalan on Sadeas's chull, so there. :Let's hope his Blade belonged to a skybreaker and I definitely see this happening. -
I'd say Adolin/Shallan is lighthearted rather than shallow, but that's a matter of perspective I guess. Shallan really needs to leave the I'm-so-much-smarted-than-anybody-else attitude she has developed and realize there are different kinds of smartness. She'd never known how to handle to the situation with the singing Parshendi, because she has the mind of a scholar just like how Adolin has the mind of a warrior and isn't interested in moss and the likes. One is not better than the other, they are just different. Kaladin and Shallan are both too broken to be able to have a healthy romantic relationship. Plus they have so much screen time, we'd have to read about their feels for each other every other chapter, which would be very annoying, not to mention not really how epic fantasies are. They can be really good friends, but they both need someone who had learn to outgrow the pain and the suffering they are going through. edit: spelling

Chapter The Four has Ash = Shallan, Jezere = Kal and Paliah and Ishi for Dalinar and Renarin, so it's an open discussion which one is Bondsmith and which is Truthwatcher. I'm rooting for Paliah's Order to be the Truthwatchers as their personality type in one of the epigraphs matches Renarin pretty well. Illumination gives connection to the spiritual realm, which can explain the foresight. My deduction is Kelek's order must be the Willshapers, so I believe Moogle's chart to be the correct one.
-
Renarin is the only one capable of seeing the future (other than Hoid, but he has more of a hunches as far as we know) and Renarin has access to Illumination, so he could have easily entered the room Dalinar was in while having vision or sleeping. He suddenly starts righting infront of Shallan at the Oathgate.

What questions should I ask Brandon?
Aleksiel replied to Trickonometry's topic in Stormlight Archive
Ask him how Kaladin and Shallan survived the fall into the chasm and what killed Syl at that moment (this is when she screamed in pain and disappeared). Kaladin couldn't surgebind and Shal has no useful surge for this situation. She could have healed with stormlight, but Kal no longer had access to stormlight. Brandon might RAFO this, but it's worth the shot. -
The letter actually explains very well to Hoid why interfering would be wrong, but it doesn't indicate why Hoid thinks the pillars of the world might shatter (or something of the sort from Hoid's letter). I didn't expect such a reasonable answer, I thought there will be hate and bitterness towards Hoid, some petty excuses and not much logic behind the refusal of support. It makes me wonder why Hoid is so certain a disaster is coming. He didn't explain this in his latter, This really got me laughing when I read it.
-
But if that was when Syl died (before Kal falling in the chasm), then how did he survive without her? If she was no more, how could he inhale stormlight to heal himself? We saw he no longer could do it in the camp. How did they survive if not for Kal's surge or healing through stormlight?

May I ask which chapter and scene you are referring to? I just made myself coffee, so I'm a bit slow.

The series has 10 books, but don't forget Brandon has planned the last five to happen a lot later than the first five, so we most likely won't see neither of those characters beyond the fifth book. Shallan and Kaladin are both broken in their own way, which is exactly why they aren't right for each other as in a romantic relationship. They both need someone to set an example and help them heal. Otherwise it will be 'Oh, I've been through so much pain, but you've been through so much more pain!'. Plus they have the most amount of screen time and if they were to get in a romantic relationship, we would have to hear about it every other chapter. They could be close friends and I certainly hope Kal and Adolin develop their friendship further without petty problems between them. With both points above in mind, I think Adolin could be the one to show them how good life can be, teach them how to be lighthearted and smile genuinely. But that won't happen if jealousy gets involved. So, I think Adolin is better for Shallan and Kaladin can have one of the other main female characters that we haven't seen yet. Someone who could show him that not only you can smile through the pain, but you can also outgrow it and move on. Shallan needs the same. Two broken people can't have a healthy lasting relationship, too much luggage from the past and none of them would know how to deal with it.

There was in the past when Navani had been wondering who to pick and I'm sure we'll get plenty of it in Dalinar's book.
-
She left her heart with Kaladin, because plottwist! Jasnah is Tarah.
-
It sounds cooler with 'the' imo, but you can say it anyway you want.

I've never read a love triangle that I enjoyed and I wish Rober Jorden didn't give Rand more than one wife at a time. I hope Brandon will escape both paths. Shallan can very well end with Hoid, I'd be happy for her. That could have battles of wits day and night. Both are curious, searching for some truth just beyond the horizon, love traveling, wanting to see more and more. To know more and to do more. She can access Shadesmar and they could be worldhoppers together. She will be drawing strange plants and animals while he's gathering stories. This aside, a triangle was already used with Dalinar and Navani and that's more than enough for me.

What's next, Axies the Stormblessed?
-
Agreed. Plus it would ruin the awesome Kaladin/Adolin bromance that just began.

I see his self-sacrifices as prove of his bravery. If you go to the way of arguing this, anyone could just as well argue that it proves him to be loving, which goes towards an Edgedancer. And i certainly do not agree his knowledge exceeds his bravery as far as we've seen. He is brave in his everyday life by interacting with so many people as he has to. Storms, I'm an introvert and the idea of this scares me. The boy is brave. And he had never disobeyed anything Dalinar, Adolin, Zahel or Kaladin (when he went to Bridge Four) told him to do. Zahel even said he was a natural at this.
