Will Dalinar learn how Kaladin became a slave, in WOR?
Aleksiel replied to eveorjoy's topic in Stormlight Archive
True, but Amaram was able to walk on his own when he visited Kaladin to ask him why he refused the Shards. And 8 months had passed before Kaladin became a bridgeman and he was in Sadeas camp for a couple of months as well. -
Will Dalinar learn how Kaladin became a slave, in WOR?
Aleksiel replied to eveorjoy's topic in Stormlight Archive
So, you basically blame Kaladin for what Amaram did, because it was all a big misunderstanding? Amaram saw an opportunity to steal Shards and seized it. It's that simple. Not because Koreb would leave with the Shards, in Kal's and Dalinar's chapters is said that all Shardbearers were required on the Plains. So, the main question is: how and why hasn't Amaram go there in WoK? -
Kaladin betrays Dalinar in Words of Radiance
Aleksiel replied to Sasukerinnegan's topic in Stormlight Archive
Sadeas may be? And Dalinar could have a spren since he'll be a bondsmith, though I have no idea how he could control a storm. That last part makes me think of Szeth and his Jezrien's Honorblade. But this doesn't explain anything on who 'killed his promises' and so on. I admit the only argument I can give is that the snippet doesn't feel like Kaladin's PoV. -

Why not the other way around - Dalinar standing against Kaladin? -

I called the excuse 'meaningless'. Let me just quote something from WoK on this: -

Like hoser said, Amaram didn't offer Kaladin the Shards. Not that they were his to offer anyway. The Shards were Kaladin's and he had every right to give them to whoever he wanted. Too bad his subordinates were too loyal to pick something they thought belong to Kaladin. And how is something 'unacceptable' a justification for murder and enslavement? Amaram could have easily said: 'Well, if you won't take the Shard I, as your Brightlord, will take them for my spoils to do as I please.' But Amaram didn't want just the Shards. He also wanted the shiny reputation they provide. He wanted others to assume he won them and not to wonder if he had stolen them from a darkeyes. As a potential KR Kaladin won't accept some meaningless excuse like Amaram trying to save many more lives by sacrificing innocent men. I really hope Brandon writes some third option, because I don't like neither the idea of revenge, nor forgiveness on Kaladin's part. -
So, this showed up on my facebook feed.

I'd compromise by reading in class -
Huh, I was so certain he disappeared along with Lamaril, my bad. Though it's still likely Gaz was executed because he failed to deal with Kaladin.
-
No, he wasn't. I'll reread the chapter, but I think you're wrong.
-
I think Gaz was executed along with Lamaril. After all, they both 'disappear' after the side bridge carrying fiasco.
-
I think we all want to know what it was.
-
I honestly think it's much worse for men. They can chose between being soldiers, ardents or farmers pretty much. And surgeons as well, but I really don't understand how this can possibly work since men don't read.

A not so non-spoiler review

Can you explain some more, because I don't get the spiritweb reference? Preferably without spoilers, please.

Oh, sorry then. I thought it was implied.

Oathbringer is not Gavilar's shardblade and Elhokar has a few sets of Shards. Probably Gavilar's blade is one of those which can be rented for a certain amount of spheres.

But some highprinces have wood transported to them, because they didn't want to pay for the soulcasted one. So if what you say was the issue, they could have just had wood delivered. edit: spelling
-
Nobody said anything about leaving soulcasters unprotected. They could go with an army and soulcast wooden bridges into permanent stone ones. They do have permanent bridges after all. It's been years since the Parshendi got anywhere close to them, so why not expand further?

Why use "monster" twice for different things?
Aleksiel replied to Michael Portz's topic in Stormlight Archive
Shallan rejects the very thought of her father's death in WoK, so it must have terrified her. She says she has 'a terrible secret hidden ten heartbeats away', which I believe refers to a Shardblade. However, nothing in her inner speech indicates she ever did something even remotely equal to the murder of her father (she confessed about it when she soulcasted infront of Jasnah). But Shallan remembers numerous times her father's ill temper and how rarely it was towards her. Her brother says he used to envy her for not being a target of their father's anger. And how they all suffered from it. This leads me to believe the monster in the scene was Shallan's father or possibly the Shardblade. -

She could feel guilty for what happened. Children usually blame themselves for things they had no fault. Parents get divorced, the child feels guilty, etc. If that was Shallan's mother who got killed, little Shallan would feel guilty for not being able to help her or for thousand different reasons. My strongest argument still stands: if Shallan thought she was a monster as a child, she would have felt the same way as the teen we saw in WoK. But there is no indication of that. Why would a monster feel guilty for stealing? edit: spelling -

Using the very same quotes to support my opinion, I think the said monster is her father. After all, it takes two to hold someone. And of course she thinks she shouldn't feel affection or love towards a monster. If she thought of herself as a monster, this would have shown in her WoK chapters. She'd be like 'just stealing, no biggie, not my usual monster self'. -
Dawnshards and their relationship to the Listeners
Aleksiel replied to Alice Rose's topic in Stormlight Archive
I am doubtful on the Sharplate mimicking Dawnshards because and we don't know Shardplate to be able to bind anything. But they grow themselves when a part is missing, so Cultivation was most likely involved. And I really like the idea of Parshendi fighting along side Heralds and KR, it's very Brandon to misleads us like this. Perhaps the Dawnsingers are a lost parsh form.- 24 replies

Somehow I don't think she referred to herself as monster, because this self-loathing would have shown in her previous chapters. Why not the Shardblade? We know Adolin shows quite affection towards his, so Shallan's father could be holding it gently, though I admit it makes no sense to keep it in a safe. Wasn't there something In the interlude with Shallan's brother about some dangerous animals they used as pets? Though still unlikely to have one in a safe. May be she referred to her father as a monster and to whatever he used to murder those people. -
There are no KR in the Nohadon vision, only surgebinders. And Teft told Kaladin KR based their ideas on some old book written by a king whose name Teft couldn't remember. One excerpt of Way of Kings explained that to Nohadon all men's destination is the same and it's the journey that matters. So based on those things I dare say WoK predates KR. And this leads me to believe it was the Shards that suprised the Almighty. I read a topic that had some shard speculations yesterday and everything was explained really well, it had a bit more on this. I'll add a link if I find the topic again. Edit: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/5956-dawnshards-and-their-relationship-to-the-listeners/ Plenty of spoilers though. The first thing is about Shardblades mimicking Honorblades.

What about skybreakers (gravity/division) then? Could they create black holes? Though my guess is 'no' on both Orders, else Roshar would have been long gone.
