  1. Ok, the thread is going in a very different direction, so I'm gonna do the unusual and post something on topic I didn't realize before Adolin's duel that Shards can be won that way. Dalinar mentioned that Sadeas wasn't able to defeat a full Shardbearer on the battlefield, but it's really curious why he never dueled a fellow Alethi for his Blade. Perhaps he can't rent a Blade from Elhokat for duel (though I think the text said otherwise), thus can't win with only a Plate? Sadeas is just not interested in such competition? Or it's beneath a Highprince status to do so? Dalinar said he won't accept a duel.
  2. I don't think she has any of her powers because she used tools to destroy her statue. If on of her surges is gone, I assume both are.
  3. It's an interesting theory, but I think it's highly unlikely. Dalinar's wife was blond and non-Alethi and Baxil's mistress is described as:
  4. When the Parhendi were talking about preventing their 'dark gods' from returning, I instantly thought of the Heralds. If the Thrill is of Odium, then the Alethi are immediately suspicious, even though it's unconsciously. And I'd say Gavilar is the main suspect here. What was he doing that provoke the Parshendi? What's with the black sphere? Which would make Ghostblood the good guys (in a way) since he suspected them to have send Szeth. Mr.T... I don't know. Depends on what his real plan is. I can't say much on him, but probably not an evil mastermind. Darkness could be delusional enough to be manipulated into helping Odium while sincerely thinking he's helping.
  5. Dalinar's first vision of a Voidbringer may be?
  6. Sorry to disappoint you, but the potter died in Mr.T's hospital it's from an epigraph, one of the death rattles. I just forgot what was the right word for it when I posted the quote. But that was the Stormfather, not the Almighty, I don't think it counts.
  7. I think some misunderstanding occurred. I meant the visions are for everyone who can receive them with some unknown criteria of selection, not the whole population of Roshar.
  8. Because the Almighty says he doesn't know who will receive the visions, so he's talking to whoever can hear him. I will add the quote when I find it. And chapter 66:
  9. I didn't read all posts, so I may be repeating things already said, but here are my thoughts on the topic: Adolin - I can easily see him killed by Szeth, thus the wound in Dalinar's soul that would allow him to bond with a spren and become a surgebinder. Plus it will be Renarin's time to shine. Jasnah - she won't die, but be assumed dead when she would be somehow stuck in Shadesmar without stormlight to get out. I'm getting some Moiraine vibes. At least two members of Bridge Four - Teft will confess his story on his deathbed (metaphorically speaking). And may be Scar. Amaram - preciously because he's working against Ghostblood and nothing to do with Kaladin. Elhokar - so Alethkar falls apart, mainly just a plot tool. Shallan - because plot twist, she dies in her book!
  10. I think enslaving the man who saved your life is more memorable than some petty conflict in your cousin's village.
  11. The visions are broadcast to anyone who may hear them and what makes someone capable of having the visions is unclear. Dalinar hasn't been chosen to be the eleventh Herald of the Almighty.
  12. I agree with Moogle's arguments. Even Kaladin noted what Dalinar was doing at the meeting. I wonder why Navani (being such expert on politics) hasn't pointed out to him how his actions could be interpreted. Unfortunately, Elhokar is a rather weak king. He shouldn't have allowed to be guarded by men who haven't sworn to him and imo should ask Kaladin and his bridgemen to swear to him, but I suppose he's too afraid for this now. Why hasn't he ever tried to have his own military force, even a small one? I fear he will turn against Dalinar and I can't say I'd blame Elhokar for that. My biggest problem with Dalinar is how delusional he is - truly believing how moral his action are; how arrogant he is, thinking he has the right to judge what's right and what's wrong. I hope Adolin will speak out and be the voice of reason like in WoK. He's the only one Dalinar would listen to. Dalinar is just so certain he's better than anyone else and it's easy to fall for that when reading his PoV. I think he still has a long to go to truly understand the 'journey before destination', because his means aren't as good as he believes. He's getting closer to being a tyrant rather than pillar of righteousness.
  13. Most people don't know how good he is. In his PoV we see he's winning and making it look like he was cheating or got lucky instead of having skills. So he will be underestimated for a while. It's the Alethi thing to do - to participate in any competition, so they Shardbearers are unlikely to refuse duels with him.
  14. Perhaps he did see Wyndle, but it was Lift who broke the law. And we know Kal hasn't broken any law, but Syl disobeyed a direct order.
  15. It could be seen as a crime I suppose (though I don't), but how exactly does a human catch/harm a spren? If Darkness can hurt Syl, then he has powers we haven't seen yet, may be something to do with division (assuming surges can do something to spren).
  16. Yeah, that's him. Darkness was in WoK prelude as well - at Gavilar's feast. He appears in Lift interlude and Jasnah's PoV in WoR, too.
  17. So Odium could be Cultivation's abusive ex, who killed Honor out of jealousy - the Cosmere soap opera
  18. Romantically linked? I've missed something again, apparently Honor is terrible at seeing the future, perhaps that's why generally it's not considered a good thing - because the Almighty couldn't do it and everything the Almighty did was only good, so what he couldn't do is considered evil. We know Cultivation is better at seeing the future, but I'm not convinced on Voidbringing being of her, I guess will wait and see. Kaladin says something on Voidbringers being able to raise the dead and this along with the death rattles being predictions combined with foreseeing the future being of Voidbringers, takes an interesting turn. Could they enter Roshar through the bodies of the dead? But why would Voidbringers reveal the future for those they wish to destroy? I haven't formed a good theory on this yet.
  19. Well, if the 'Kaladin betrays Dalinar' theory is correct, then this is the Stormfather telling Kal that Darkness is coming for him. It depends on the way you look at it. Syl was with Kaladin during the storm and f honorspren are splinters of Honor, why not talking to her? Telling her that she shouldn't have bonded with a man. Though if Syl was prohibited to come to Roshar by the Stormfather, I guess his reaction would have been angrier. Perhaps the Ring that Wyndle spoke of forbid her. Actually, is it confirmed that was the Stormfather? Not that I have any clue who else he could be.
  20. But Syl was disobedient, not traitorous.
  21. Oh, I see now. This is really interesting considering how 'To foresee the future is of the Voidbringers.'
  22. At first, I thought it was a new glimpse, because I had completely forgotten this was in WoK. How is it a prediction for chapter 67? How is Kal protecting the one who killed his promises? Sorry, may be I didn't understand your post. I was thinking something a bit far fetched after reading a topic on Jezere becoming evil. If the death chants are about the Heralds and KR (at least some of them), then may be this refers to Jezrien betraying Honor (breaking the Oathpact) and making some new agreement with Odium perhaps. Just a thought.
  23. Well, how does one breath in light in the first place?
  24. Well, I was referring to whatever new Amaram will say to Kaladin, that's why I said excuse. The justification Amaram gave was that he would serve Alethkar better and or not. Since he can't see the future the only thing Amaram could be certain of was that he killed his own men and enslaved the one who saved him. But I'm gonna stop here, because this isn't the topic of the thread.
  25. I always assumed inhaling stormlight was only Windrunners thing since that's their body focus.
