This is really off topic on my part, but: Adolin did snap, but he wanted to deal with Sadeas ever since the Tower. Adolin didn't feel the Thrill which is as of now believed to be of Odium, so he wasn't under an external influence when he killed him. There are WoB saying some Orders of the KR would approve of his actions. Edit: ah, still off topic, I'm sorry He has a spren, but that doesn't mean he has said enough words to have the level of connection required to form him into a Blade. As for the other statement, it can't be proved yet, but you can speculate on it. The question mark I used was because I don't know Glys's gender.

Why didn't the stormlight heal Kaladin's scars?
Aleksiel replied to eveorjoy's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think healing with stormlight is tight to the spiritual realm (Shardblade cuts the soul and Kal healed that). So, if the scars are part of how he sees himself, that is more of a Cognitive realm; remember Spiritual realm is about the soul. Perhaps the slave brands are scars of his mind and they will remain until he's able to truly perceive and believe himself a free man; because stormlight heals on spiritual and not cognitive level. -
I fail to see why Shadolin needs to be supported as they are already betrothed. That's why most people talk about what will sabotage their relationship, not why it will continue. After all, a relationship remains until something (internal or external) interferes.

I think Renarin doesn't yet have his spren as Shardblade, else he'd use him (?) and not the screaming one. It's interesting to see someone can bond more than one spren, though.

I suppose there will be 2 to 3 years until the next book if everything goes as Brandon has planned, but Peter is the one who can give the most accurate answer here.

It's possible, but is there any evidence that supports the theory?

Adolin was a bit predictable before he murdered Sadeas, so I think it actually improved his character. He wanted a duel for a long and Sadeas denied that several times, so a knife to the eye socket it was. What was even more interesting to me was the fact Adolin stopped filling the Thrill at all in WoR and I wonder if this is foreshadowing him as a surgebinder or something else.

Cosmere Fanart - Sketches and Works-in-Progress
Aleksiel replied to ExMachina's topic in Creator's Corner
me loves it I think I might start shipping them after this. -
I think it's more of a Cognitive realm thing. Jasnah was on the 'other side' talking to spren, so definitely Shadesmar.

I shall sink with my ship! [bad jokes] Syl: A Cryptic? A storming Cryptic? You replace me with a Cryptic, is that it?! Kal: What? Of course no- Syl: I trusted you, Kaladin! Kal: But Syl, I ... Syl: Farewell, traitor! *dies* Now, that would be some over reaction. When Kal compared Shallan to his mother and little brother I was like 'Wow, slow there Oedipus!' [/bad jokes] Anyway, I see your point and I agree there is a huge possibility of Shalladin happening; I'd like to read about a strong friendship between them, because I think it would really benefit the series to have some non-romantic non-blood related male/female relationship and Kal and Shallan would be a great choice. This in no way implies that they can't be both close friends and lovers; on the contrary they can be both friends and lovers and that will work really well. I enjoyed their interaction throughout WoR and I certainly hope to see more of them. I can see Kal and Shallan being in a romantic relationship, but I also see reasons for them to not have one; it really depends on how many things go. I'm sure whatever Brandon is planning will be great. Especially if, you know, Jasadin happens *looks innocent*

Sadeas was trouble and I think if Jasnah was there, she would have had him assassinated. There was no way for peace between Sadeas and Dalinar, so Adolin did what should have been done. Sadeas would have only been a hindrance and they couldn't deal with him on top of the Desolation. His death was no surprise to me, but I didn't expect Adolin to be the one who killed him. At least he was smart enough to cover his tracks. Adolin wanted to fight Sadeas for a long time and Sadeas escaped all challenges. He didn't want a duel, so he got a blade to his eye socket instead; served him just right.

I see many obstacles ahead of them and not enough feelings to compensate. Shallan had a very bad reaction towards Adolin's desire to protect her and Kal is all about protecting. He is intense and has a temper. Despite him being a great guy if a few things in him remind her of her father, that will distant her from him. A conflict between Syl and Pattern/Shallan will be huge for Kal. Kal's honor and Shallan's tendency to lie are a potential problem as well. Shallan being part of Ghostblood also is one.

I think what pushed Dalinar to investigate was Amaram refusing to help his sons on the arena. Or rather when Kaladin pointed it out: So, I think this is when Dalinar starts doubting his old friend. Kaladin's conviction on the accusations made infront of the entire court. He has proven himself over and over again. Why lie to Dalinar? So Dalinar most likely concluded there was some truth to his story. Of course, there must have been contradictions between the seventeen stories Dalinar was told about how Amaram got his Shards. I can't imagine all details to be told with perfection. None of these things on its own would have been enough imo, but the combination made Dalinar set a trap.

Shallan doesn't necessarily have to chose between Adolin and Kaladin. The unlikeliness of Shadollin doesn't support Shalladin.

Contradiction with Taravangian's Intelligence
Aleksiel replied to Moogle's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think this is the best explanation so far. Perhaps Taravangian fell into an intellectual trap: it was so clear to him that he couldn't understand why this wouldn't be obvious to everyone and how anyone would defy his logic. (Poor example ahead) Like an intelligent atheist who couldn't grasp how someone could deny evolution despite all scientific evidence. -
Potential conflicts between Kaladin and Shallan are: 1) Kaladin killing Helaran; 2) Shallan's tendency to lie and her being a part of Ghostblood; despite her original good intentions, I think she will go a different, perhaps even dangerous way. (Everyone expects her to be the mentioned traitor, so she most likely won't be imo, but still I don't see Kaladin being ok with her actions); 3) Tarah - probably alive (at least she was when Kal 'failed her' whatever that means); supposed love interest and most likely to be causing trouble in one way or another for Kaladin, because I don't think Brandon has ever foreshadowed a pleasant surprice; 4) Syl/Pattern dynamics - Shallan can live happily without Pattern's approval, but will Kal dare to antagonize Syl?

Shardplate - what is it really for? (full book spoilers)
Aleksiel replied to Falconite's topic in Stormlight Archive
Welcome to the forum! Shardplate originally weren't meant to protect from Shardblades, but Voidbringers. It's harder to rip someone's hand when they wear a Plate. Perhaps Shardplates original purpose was to enhance physical attributes. Szeth said he can't use both surgebinding and Shardplate, but KR in Dalinar's visions had no such problem. Perhaps the gems were added later as was the case with Blades. Because we've seen how exhausting the stormlight in one's Plate makes it so heavier it's hard to move in it, I can't imagine using the gems in it as a resource of stormlight unless truly desperate. -
Medical errors in Words of Radiance
Aleksiel replied to Sasukerinnegan's topic in Stormlight Archive
The lack of gunpowder and what's related to it can be easily explained by the existence of Shardbearers. You can't shoot down a man in a Shardplate and since they are the most powerful warriors, scientist and scholars aim to find a way to deal with Shardbearers. So, science on Roshar didn't progress towards gun-related inventions as it's ineffective when it comes to Shardbearers. There are some problems with this reasoning, but it's a possibility. -
I'd say the bonded spren is the one who accepts the words. In Kal's case Stormfather's acceptance wan't entirely needed ('your opinion matters not - syl'), but he was involved because Syl was currently... mm... sort of dead. He didn't interfere with Kal's second ideal.

They are part of the big sequence of his failures. It's interesting to see what happened with Tarah, but we know enough to make sense of Kaladin. I don't think you can compare this to leaving out how Shallan became a surgebinder and her early experience with Pattern including turning him into a Shardblade. Edit: With Kal all major points were covered: his knowledge on medicine, how he ended up in the army, why protecting is so important to him, how he became a slave and why he hates lighteyes. However, I felt like Shallan's story was left untold.
-
Yeah, but Kal's story works perfectly well without those. They are more of a details rather than big part of what made him who he is.

I think some Orders allow interpretations (like Lightweavers) and others (Windrunners) need exact phrasing. May be sprens of Honor accept only certain word and spren of Cultivation expect their binders (if that's the right word) to just guess the meaning. I'd say Skybreakers really must be strict about this.
