Who Sharded?

I remember (expensively) expediting a copy of A Dance with Dragons from amazon.de when they sent out some copies early. It does seem to happen quite often with them. Or really with every book release that I anticipate, I hear about several stores in Europe selling them early.

This. I usually go with ebooks unless they have maps or appendices. And Stormlight Archive has pictures on top of that. I can't justify getting the ebook in this case.

I agree with you and Chaos on TWoK. This review got me much more hyped than the TOR review.

I'm glad I saw this post! I typically look at all the art early on (the last Harry Potter book was the only one where I resisted). I'll try to resist for WoR.

I ran into a similar situation with one of the WoT books. I decided to skip the signing because I didn't want to get spoiled.

I feel like if one was actually dead, Peter wouldn't let Tor put this one up.

I wish this forum would shut down AFTER release. As a tax accountant, I can't think of a worse time for this book to come out. I'll hardly be able to read the book for a month and a half, yet I'll be at my computer, with this board just a click away...

Usually when I'm looking forward to a book as much as this one, I start searching for reviews about a month before release. It seems some reviewers are getting ARC's or digital copies of this book, though they're not saying much until release.
