Preservation cannot be Part Skaa (because win conditions would die). The Lord Ruler could.

Two more clarifications: 1. Part Skaa do not know that they are. 2. America will be experiencing the sad event known as Daylight Savings Time this weekend. Therefore, rollover will be an hour earlier for all non-Americans. (I don't know if the countdown timer accounted for that or not.) It'll now be midnight GMT.

So, DA wasn't quite correct here. You may give vials to anyone, whether they are a misting or not. This does include yourself. That said: here's how actions work. You may use one action per role that you have. So Kelsier can only do one conversion/metal action per turn. The Lord Ruler is essentially a Mistborn and a Feruchemist, so may use two. But say the Lord Ruler were also a Metallurgist - he could then use a Misting action, a Feruchemy action, and the Metallurgist action. The eliminator kill can be used in place of any role action. You may also pass one vial as a free action, if you wish (in addition to the Metallurgist action, if you have it). Any more passes must be used in place of a role action.

There is a link - it's now in General Rules. And also here. @Jondesu, if you want a second pair of eyes I'm always happy to. Ecth - o.O That's... I'm actually really down for that. Maybe. Depending on how it works. I see absolutely no reason why it shouldn't be excellent, though. Not for every game, perhaps, but for some it'd be really, really nice. PM me, just because I want to see?

Specifically, LG19 is similar to this game in that it's got a lot of pieces and powers, and was designed for 25+ people, but also had a considerably smaller number. It ended with Araris finding three lerasium beads, doing an enormous IronPull that literally pulled down the town, and ascending to Preservation. Fun times. I'll also confirm that DA is now helping to GM, because Conq isn't terribly active and I'm not terribly interested in doing everything myself. (That also ended up happening in LG19. >> Both of the other GMs went inactive.) We only need a few more players until the game can start, people. Hopefully in the next few days we'll get a last few.

Sadly not. In regards to numbers, I haven't heard from Conq in a bit, but will begin the game when we have 17 players regardless, because signups have been going on rather too long already. (That'll make it the shortest game since LG19, which also had 17. I somewhat suspect this game could turn out rather similar to that one, in fact.)

Multiple notes: 1. I'm co-GMing this game. I don't think that was mentioned. Surprise. 2. It has now been a week since the opening of the game. We still only have 11 players, though, so we'll have to extend it at least a little bit - more than twenty would be ideal. We'll see where we get. I'd rather this not be the smallest LG on record. 3. Turnover will be at 5 pm PST / 8 pm EST / 1 am GMT / I don't know which Australia timezone to use so convert it yourself please and thank you. 4. The rules may change slightly before the game begins (because... reasons ), so I highly suggest rereading them once the game has actually started. 5. Spec doc will be sent out as soon as I make one.

Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Elbereth replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Ah, sorry, I didn't quite make myself clear. I was adding to Jondesu's vote - given that I've noticed before when you said things that were elim strategies enough that I nearly told you not to give stuff to the elims for free, I think his point holds merit, and makes me more suspicious of you than of Alv. Tintallë tried to walk on past Fifth, but her head was still reeling. She stopped, focusing on the wall beside her. It was just another bit of grey stone, here, undecorated and blank and still. She focused on it, blocking out all noise and distractions, imagining that she was stone. She heard someone approaching, but didn't bother to turn. "Tintall, I believe your name was?" she heard. "Tintallë," she corrected absently, not bothering to turn and look at the person addressing her, focusing on the wall. Breathing. Not fainting, preferably. She saw movement out of the corner of her eye. He kissed her hand, and she fell. Not in a romantic way. Jonly was... he was... oh, gods, Almighty above. If Tintallë could've closed her eyes in this not-quite-world, she would have. His soul was dark. That was the first thing. And not clean, sacred night. This was a darkness of eyes watching from the shadows, waiting for its prey to come nearer. This was a hard darkness, of blood and death and doing what was necessary rather than what was right. And... hatred. There was more hatred in his soul than Tintallë had known was possible. Almighty... And the darkness and the hatred mixed in horrible splendor. He hated everyone and everything, she saw, but there were a few images that stood out, though they made the darkness no less pervading, somehow. The image of a man with silver skin. A mysterious figure that nevertheless she somehow recognized, though she couldn't place from where. A woman, standing by a shining pool, glimmering brightly. And... a man in pack furs, standing near the woman from the third image. Jonly. She caught a glimpse, then, of what he had been: an honorable man, of ideals and wonder, who worshipped his goddess because he truly believed she deserved it, so much that he gave her the greatest gift in his world. And Tintallë saw when the woman cast him aside, and betrayed him, and left him for dead, and she wept at what his soul had become. A single word was written in blood in the darkness. Not dripping or messy or any such thing. Simple and elegant and horrifying. Monster. -
Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination

Thank you, but I'll pass on that offer. Ha. I wish you luck with that. Not that luck will make a difference. Honestly, this post strikes me as really suspicious. Right after Alv suggests lynching inactives, Ecth gets on and doesn't say anything game relevant but enough to escape the lynch? That feels evil to me. As for the rest of the cycle... I'm unsure about the whole revealing of what spren have been bonded and how much it takes to bond a Dustrbinger and such, though it's too late for that now. I don't necessarily think that telling the evil team more that they might not know is wise at this point, but cna't really stop th at. For the moment, I will place my vote on Drake as well. In my last post, I very nearly commented before deciding not to bother that something he'd said was nice but that he was giving strategies freely to the elims. I'm not particularly fond of that. I'd switch to Ecth potentially, though. RP will come, but as it'll take a while I might as well post this now. -
We used to have similar awards for achievements in the games, I think (though that was before me). I think the idea of doing that for CRs is excellent. The Acropolis is kind of a place for that? More specifically, I'm reminded of the SEncyclopedia that Bard and I really need to get to working on... A similar place, like a doc or series of docs to give an outline of each character and discuss them, perhaps? Ditto Joe. I like the game idea in general and see no problems with it - the bolded part is to note that we've had that, in MR9. Perspective of prospective Inquisitors with skaa infiltrators. (Caused problems when someone said 'skaa' referring to the village instead of the eliminators, a term now known as the Ripple Effect.)

Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Elbereth replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Right, posts (probably not in the right order). *a number of posts about RP vs discussion text; my opinion is in General Rules, thank you* After having thought about it, I'm actually considering revising my estimate to four - because of the difficulty with alignment being revealed, mostly. That gives the evil team a lot of power. That is something of a side note, though. o.O Okay? May I ask why you trust me? I haven't posted since cycle 2 and I don't think I even said much alignment-indicative then... Drake: This was in response to Alv asking about whether Sheep would be counted in the 50% for executions, 75% for pardons, thing. The counterargument, of course, is that if Sheep didn't count for those, she likely wouldn't have counted for the elim-outnumbering win condition, either. Which would be really nice for the elims, hmm? Drake: That's kind of what he does. Part of the skillset that comes with being Shadows, perhaps. Also, regarding Alv - and particularly the accusation that conserving honor makes him more likely to be an eliminator. I disagree fairly strongly on this point; for most people that could be indicative, but I think Alv would do so regardless of alignment, knowing him. I don't think it's alignment indicative - which (side note incoming) is the thing about him. Alv is really really good at saying only things that aren't really alignment indicative. He doesn't go for getting trust, as he's said before. Because there will be a difference when you do that when you're good and evil. But ambiguity? So that no one can ever tell? That's what he does. So I don't have an opinion on whether he's evil or not, really - if I had to guess, I'd say village, but that's a very tenuous guess - but I don't think that any of the points raised against him have really been valid if he is evil. Flashback time! Tintallë Iurnu was walking down one of the many hallways in Urithiru, trying to clear her head from the thoughts running through it. Ralaani, the highstorm, whatever Kaladin Stormblessed had planned for today... She was so lost in thought that she didn't notice Fifth approaching until he bumped into her. Then she noticed. He'd bumped her hand by accident, and a single brush of hs arm was enough. She fell into his soul. It was... odd. She was in a room, or a place, or nowhere, but the nowhere was split into two halves. On the right was... coldness. Eyes staring out of the darkness. Purpose, direction, rationality tempered with the feeling of stalking through a dark wood at night. Hunting. This man was a hunter, without doubt. A big cat, or an owl winging through the darkness, or a human with an arrow drawn back from the bow, perfectly still. Quiet, deadly watchfulness. And past that, she caught a glimpse of... something else. Another soul, almost. Rationality, logicl, white calm precision. The left was different. Mist obscured nearly everything, but the feelings came through - a deep caring that was utterly incompatible with the hunter's indifference. A horrible, gut-wrenching sense of loss. One image pierced the mist briefly, just as the vision was about to fade: a lonely winding road into the distance, under the vastness of the sky, and the sense of a friend whom Fifth could not even remember. Tintallë stumbled, gasping. Fifth had already apologized and walked on, apparently, and she saw his back receding into the distance as she caught her breath. That had been odd, even more so than Ralaani's. Did he have two souls? Or... something? She hoped not every Initiate was that odd. She wasn't sure how much more of this she could stand, and at some point she'd probably have to come into contact with every Initiate. Note that this is the night before the chasmfiend hunt, and there will be one more flashback before I'm caught up. Tintallë did not attend that day, and for good reason. You'll see. -

Popping in to note that I have spent the better part of the last five hours catching up on the week's worth of thread I missed (this past weekend was... mm. 'Not pleasant' is a kind way to put it, and I haven't had time to catch up since then.), not counting this thread as yet. As it is after midnight, I am now going to bed, and will read this thread and post in the morning. Also, even assuming 100 wpm (given I was very distracted and reading critically is slower, but my usual wpm is about 500), 5 hours makes that 30,000 words in the last two and a half cycles alone. You guys talk a lot. -
Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Elbereth replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Meh. Point enough, and currently not important. Well... yes and no? Because the thing is that, in my opinion, you are currently still thought of as 'indisputably dangerous', regardless of whether you actually are or not. (And, really - you are dangerous, certainly. Just like Joe is dangerous. Or like Alv is dangerous. Indisputably so. I doubt he meant it in any sense more than he would when referring to either of them - only difference is that he has reasons for suspecting you, and he doesn't for Joe or me or whoever.) Gah. I... don't know. Well... One, I think it's been getting better. Honestly. When's the last time someone made a joke about your rep? When's the last time before this that someone commented on your rep? The lawful evil thing, which was maybe a month ago? And before that, when you died in LG28? People are slowly getting more supportive. I don't think, personally, that it should be denied that you're dangerous, because I think you are. Just like Joe is. Or I am. I don't think you should be taken out of the top tier of players just because you don't like your rep. Has it gotten overblown in the past? Yes. Is it still? Yes. But I think it is getting better. And maybe that's just me being optimistic, and ultimately it's up to you. It also depends on what you mean by 'end'. I don't think there ever won't be jokes about your rep on occasion. But I think that as is already happening, people will shut those down because they know that you don't like that. You killed the BG, after all, and people stopped invoking her pretty immediately. You've played two games in this relaxed state, as opposed to the previous twenty or so as an excellent player. It'll take a lot of time for people to stop viewing you as an important threat - but I do firmly believe that it can and will happen eventually. Hm. To be clear, until that post I think I did still view you under your old rep. I thought of the relaxed state as a temporary thing because you needed to destress. I have now... perhaps not completely, but at least partly put you down a tier onto that of... Lopen, perhaps? Not a perfect analogy but the best I can think of right now. I think the most important thing is that SE cares, Wilson. It takes a while and a lot of stubbornness to change, but you've got that. I care. Orlok cares. We care. And things can change.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Elbereth replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
This post comes in... multiple parts. Probably three. 1. Orlok and that last post of Wilson's have now confirmed my paranoia of Wilson into outright suspicion. I'd forgotten about the first-cycle attack, mostly. And Orlok is right, even if he didn't phrase it well - there are very few teams that wouldn't have attacked Wilson again by now. Regardless of whether that's right or not. The three people who wouldn't are basically me, Joe, and Orlok. I know I'm innocent, Joe's cleared, and Orlok's the one accusing you, so... I highly doubt that anyone else wouldn't have attacked you by now. Of more relevance to me is that you didn't refute him. You're not annoyed at all at him calling you evil, nor did you try to shift the blame onto others. You essentially ignored that part. And a third point is that honestly? You seem really stressed. :/ And particularly if you're evil, that makes sense - you have expectations on you again. You're working hard on this game. Of course you're stressed. 2. I am worried about you. I do think you're right. Orlok was perpetuating your reputation, and that's not something that should be encouraged. I don't think he's wrong - most teams would've killed you by now, as I said. But it was definitely not well worded. Because killing you isn't necessarily their most strategic move, and definitely not in this case. That doesn't mean they wouldn't. But they shouldn't. And making them believe that is hard, and making people more afraid is easy. So it shouldn't have been said in that way. But I'm worried because I think you overreacted. What happened to not being aggressive in games? What happened to the meta getting worse over time because people are getting more aggressive? That final couple of sentences was too far, I think. Orlok is your friend. You definitely have a right to get angry at him for doing something that you think is wrong. But you know he didn't do it intentionally, and how much he cares for you as a person. So I don't think you're completely in the right, either. Nether of you are. As usual. >> You are a good player (as shown, for instance, by the fact that I think you've flown under the radar for eleven storming cycles as an eliminator without being caught even despite your rep). Was Orlok exacerbating the problem with his comment? Yes. Is that a bad thing? Yes. Should you have reacted how you did to it? I personally don't think so. Please don't lose a friendship over this? :/- 1403 replies

As I commented in LG30, I don't see the point of a different color for RP. There isn't always a clear boundary between game talk and RP, and I don't like the precedent it sets of encouraging people not to read RP. If you really don't want to, you don't have to. But SE is a roleplay forum as much as for gameplay. It's just as important, and making it a different color makes it seem like it's less important than the game discussion, which is the 'main' part of the game. I don't think that should be the case. We have blue text because we need something specifically to denote what is absolutely, unquestionably true. But RP isn't any less or more truthful than gameplay discussion. What distinguishes it, really?I'm not sure there's a firm line, and I don't see the point in trying to draw one.

Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Elbereth replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yep. And people don't necessarily know that - I assumed, for instance, that you were in the spectator doc, and thus did have access to more information. But this time was fine, as I said. Just be careful about it in the future. -
Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Elbereth replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Please, please don't reference other ongoing games - I'm aware that you haven't actually revealed anything about the game, but it's generally better to avoid doing so as much as you possibly can. Also, if an elim sneaks in last minute in thread to switch the lynch, we'll see and be suspicious of that person - and given that no Bonds have formed, there literally cannot be any vote manipulation each turn. So at least for right now, there's nothing to worry about on that front. -
Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Elbereth replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Tintallë's going to have a busy night, given I've had a request in PM as well... There was a lull in the rain for a moment, and Tintallë lifted her head to inhale another breath of Stormlight and try to see how her fellow Initiates were coping. She was coping, now, though the rain was absolutely freezing and the memory of the wall of water still panicked her slightly. She tried not to think about that. She couldn't afford to, right now. Then the storm increased again, and the moment of peace vanished. The wind lifted her, carried her upwards a few feet, and crashed her back down... right on top of someone else, her hand catching on their neck. Tintallë didn't feel the storm anymore. She was sucked into the images: drawings, surrounding her, pieces of paper flying about covered with images of life in pencil and charcoal and paint. The centrepiece was the girl who had been introduced as Ralaani, though that didn't quite seem true. Not here, where there could be no falsehood. He - he? she wondered briefly - stood proud in the center, clutching a pen in one hand and a sketchbook in the other. He was beautiful, in this light, a proud artist inspiring the world. More papers fluttered through Tintallë's vision - an axehound frolicking in crem; the boy this time dressed as a girl, one tear trickling down his face; some sort of spren; a sword that hurt to look at. As the images receeded, she saw one more image: a downy owl with sharp talons, looking out at the viewer. Then it was gone. Tintallë fell away, gasping, and grateful for the storm that meant she didn't have to try not to faint in front of everyone's eyes. She sighed, and lay back down, away from anyone else who might try to touch her, and hoped it would be over soon. -
Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Elbereth replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Tintallë was woken by a banging on her door, shortly followed by someone barging in and yelling. "Wake up, get up!" She groaned, but reluctantly started moving. When the man reached for her to get her out more quickly, though, she scrambled enough that she fell off the bed and gave herself a nice bruise. She glared at the man come to wake her. "What." "Be on the roof in two minutes in your uniform," he responded sharply, and left (not bothering to close the door behind him) to go bang on the next door. Tintallë frowned, but dressed as quickly as she could and ran up to the roof. It wouldn't do to make a bad impression her first day, after all. When she found out what they were to do, however, she paled. A face pale as ice, blue like the water around it... She shook, barely able to tie the rope around herself, trying to forget the memories. She turned away from the storm that was approaching, closing her eyes and trying to ignore the world, stomach twisting tighter and tighter. Then a crash and water, everywhere, surrounding her, drowning her, tossing her about like a piece of driftwood. Tintallë panicked, thrashing about and clinging to the ground when she could find it, though she wasn't even sure which way was down. Breathe. She inhaled by mistake, and her lungs filled with water. She couldn't- she wouldn't- "No!" She coughed, and the first wave of the storm passed. Breathe. There was space between the water, now, air to replace the water in her lugs. Tintallë managed a single deep breath, then had it knocked out of her as a gust of wind tossed her forward and smashed her into the ground. Her head cracked against the ground, and stars filled her vision. Breathe. Her vision cleared, suddenly, and life filled her. The bruise from falling out of her bed faded, as did the pain in her head. Stormlight danced about her. That was the worst of it. Once she'd regained her clearheadedness, all she had to do was lay down, breathe, and try not to wince too much when the wind lifted her and slammed her to the ground again. She hadn't drowned. She wasn't dead. She would be okay. If anyone wants her to fall onto them or vice versa, I'd be open to that - past time for her to come into contact with someone, I think.
