  1. I think it's a lot better. Thanks for the avatar!
  2. That's interesting. I didn't realize that Tor was paying for him to tour. Thanks Peter!
  3. Suggested by Peter: Is Mare's full name Marewill, like the flowers named after her?
  4. ...when you realize your sister has an Aonic name and are jealous. (My sister is Natalie. She's not graceful at all, though.)
  5. Thanks! I hadn't seen that one before. Unfortunately, most of my typing is on an iPad, which I haven't figured out font download for.
  6. You know, I never thought of that. Though I'm not sure how you could stamp time, If you could, that would be really neat. Also, I'm not quite certain what I'm trying to get across either. Maybe I shouldn't have posted until I got it straightened out in my head, but it's too late now. Oh well.
  7. beards. The old (Will someone please summarize again? I had to go back at least ten pages.)
  8. This occurred to me just the other day while I was listening to my family talk about what day it felt like. Occasionally, if I have forgotten what the day is multiple times, I simply impress it on my surroundings. So, for example, if it's Tuesday but I keep thinking it's Thursday, I simply look around me and basically say, "It's Tuesday. This particular viewpoint, this feeling, means it's Tuesday." I don't know. It's something like that, though I can't explain it very well. Anyway, that got me thinking. What if time has three aspects as well? I mean, it's not an object, but it's a dimension. Kind of. So, basically, I started thinking about time. Mostly, I thought about its Cognitive aspect. If I thought about that with the view of a Soulcaster from The Emperor's Soul, it got kind of interesting. What if Monday wasn't just arbitrary anymore, but thought of itself as a Monday? Perhaps each month is separate because it thinks of itself as a separate month. I don't think that's explained very well, but it's the best I could do with a thought that's not quite coherent. I still have no idea about time's Physical or Spiritual aspects. Take that where you will.
  9. I know! In art class we were taking notes on color, and everyone at my table was staring at my paper. Hmpf. Just because they aren't clever enough to recognize Elvish when they see it doesn't mean they should draw attention to their ignorance by staring.I suppose that was a little unfair. ...when you have a notebook of books to read and favorite quotes, and the quotes section is completely full of Sanderson quotes. ...when you currently carry around an Alethi script key and write everything in that so you can learn it. The Allomantic one is next.
  10. Hello and welcome to the 17th Shard! I did the same thing with Brandon's online lectures. Instead of just watching the 013 one, I went back to the 2012 ones and decided to watch them too. I'm still only at the very beginning of the 2013 ones. Anyway. To my knowledge, Mary, Howard, and Dan do not have accounts on here, though I may be wrong. Brandon rarely posts, as he says that he would get distracted. Then he would take time away from his writing, something that we all do not wish him to do. His assistant, Peter Ahlstrom, is occasionally around. Welcome!
  11. When you're playing the game where you say the first word that comes to mind and it's almost always impossible to understand for anyone who hasn't read Mistborn. My sister hated it when things like that happened: she would say 'gold' and I would say 'health'! And she would be annoyed. And it happened over and over and over.
  12. I will! Thanks! I'm actually really annoyed, because Path of Daggers was transferred to a different branch than I asked for it to be, and I'm taking a trip this weekend. All I'll have is New Spring and something to reread (probably Lord of the Rings).
  13. My first thought was that this is referring to humankind. This particular part could come from Honor, actually. He's protecting humankind even though they broke all of his promises. Or it could be a Herald referring to the Radiants. I don't know. I just think it might not be about the Oathpact.
  14. Agreed. If I didn't have school....Welcome!
  15. Kaladin or Dalinar are the obvious choices. Dalinar has been having visions from Honor. Kaladin...Can't you just see him becoming commander of the army, but choosing to go and duel the champion himself because of his honor? If the champion is superpowerful, it might be a team of new Radiants (Kaladin, Shallan, Jasnah, etc.). Taln is a possibility. If someone ever becomes a Herald or takes Talenel's place, they would be a good candidate too. It might well be someone we haven't met yet. Less likely, but more interesting possibilities: Szeth. That would be very interesting, especially if he's doing it only because he's obeying one of the good guys and not of his own free will. Wit. It might be a good match, as Wit actually has been using magic for a while. Adolin, Renarin, Elhokar, Navani, and Teft are unlikely unless they also become Radiants. Personally, I think Jasnah would make an awesome champion. Either that or Kaladin. EDIT: Ninja'd! EDIT 2: I just realized I totally read this wrong. I was thinking of Honor's champion, not Odium's. Oops.
  16. Could you get me a quote on the third one? I haven't seen seen anything to indicate that there couldn't be more Shards. Or have been more Shards in the past.
  17. So... While I was lurking on this site, I came up with a variety of questions. I've gone through all the questions and done a quick search, so I don't think any have been asked before. Probably. Mistborn Will Odium affect Scadrial at all? Or has it before? Have any Shards other than Ruin/Preservation ever affected Scadrial? Or will they? Did Hoid want Vin to come to him in book 3 as an informant? Roshar Do the people of Roshar perceive the afterlife as the Tranquiline Halls? Has the Tranquiline Halls ever been a real place? Are there any versions of the Almighty's name that are related to Tanavast? Though perhaps more symmetrical? Which Shard came to Roshar first? Is the place where the Heralds were tortured on Roshar? Are there any more continents on Roshar? Have we seen the entirety of the Letter? Is the person being addressed (PBA) in the letter a Shard? (I know he's on the world of the Liar of Partinel (Taldain? Yolen?) now, but I don't think it says the PBA came from there, just that they are there now.) How many Shards have ever been on Roshar? Are there more types of Shardblades that we haven't seen yet? Is there more than one type of Shardplate? Are there any spren in Shinovar? How many? Cosmere Is it possible for Splinters to form into Shards again? (I have a feeling this has been answered, but I couldn't find anything) Did Hoid know any of the Shardholders before they began to hold Shards? Ones we know? Which ones? What feelings does he show towards them? Are any of the Shards influenced by the force opposing Adonalsium? Some more than others? Are Shardholders able to have children? With mortals or other holders? What would happen if they did? Have any so far? Are any Shards affecting worlds they are not on? Sel The people of MaiPon are, obviously, right about Realmatic theory. Who taught them that/how do they know? EDIT: Another thing. Could you use chromium to burn an Inquisitor's spikes? Or at least Marsh's, because he's alive.
  18. This needs to be updated again, as The Rithmatist has now come out. The second Liar of Partinel link has also not been fixed.
  19. Hello everyone. I'm Limelleth, of Lim, or Lime, or Elleth, or whatever. I'm a teenager. I've read all the Brandon Sanderson books I could get my hands on this summer. That is, everything except the Alcatraz books and the short stories (thoughI have read the Emperor's Soul). I'm currently reading New Spring, because Path of Daggers is being transferred through my library system. This s m first read of the series, and I'm liking it so far. I've been lurking for a while now. I don't tend to theorize much, but there are a few quotes from Brandon that I think deserve more attention or a closer look. I live in California. I love to read. Other than Brandon Sanderson, I love Tolkien (and not just Lord of the Rings of he Hobbit), Tamora Pierce, Jim Butcher, Robin McKinley, Brian Jacques, Susan Cooper, Robin Hobb, Eoin Colfer, Diane Duane, Mary Hoffman, Christopher Paolini..... Note that those authors are in no particular order. I also Irish dance and play the harp. Recently I've begun writing, and I participated in and won NaNoWriMo this year. Ummm.... Oh! I mentioned quotes from Brandon earlier. I've noticed a few people saying that there are three types of Shardblades. Brandon didn't say that. He said that we had seen three types. For all we know, there are ten. Or eleven: one for each order of Radiant and Honorblades. I think that's it. So, hello.
