  1. There was a thread where they talked more about transliteration. I think it was the Alethi font thread, but I can't find it currently. So look for that, maybe. Also, are the vowels really just lines? I thought they were shaped more like 1's.
  2. What about the short stories?
  3. Ok. I just wasn't sure, so I wanted to stay on the safe side. Thanks for letting me know.
  4. Oh, yes. Individual words are sometimes okay if you're careful, but the grammar is absolutely horrendous.
  5. I would try again and make sure your email is correct. EDIT: That actually leads to an interesting question. Will you get all the glimpses so far, or just begin with #4 tomorrow? My instinct says the second.
  6. I will find the people who have been lost. I will grieve for those who have been hurt. I will sing for those who have no song. 17th Shard: I will remember those quotes which have been forgotten. I will theorize that which will come to be. I will extrapolate on quotes which have no meaning. I will help those theories which aren't quite right. I will post wild theories in the hope that one will be correct.
  7. I've never met anyone who has known of the Sanderson books. I have met two who have read some of WoT. I wish there were some, but...
  8. Though it has been put previously on this thread, it would be good form to subscribe to the mailing list yourself, as that is Tor's aim for these Glimpses. It's quite easy.
  9. I think you're right. It took me a while to figure that out. For a while I was thinking, So? Then I took another look and realized that all the ranks are Cosmere. Duh.Will you still have 'Shardbearer' and 'Full Shardbearer'? Will you divide that into 'Shardplate Bearer' and 'Shardblade Bearer'? I don't know which one would be more powerful, though. That was probably me.I can't say anything for 'more often', because I haven't been here long enough, but I generally find this to be one of the most intelligent places on the Internet.
  10. That's as may be, but we still have eight more books after WoR to go for that. I was just talking about in Words of Radiance.
  11. And take a look at the ones on his website so you don't copy them too closely.
  12. You know, that's kind of brilliant. I like this theory. A lot. It might even tie into the Expanses in Shadesmar. (Ex. Expanse of the Vapors is Nalthis, according to your theory).
  13. I'm not sure what you're talking about. If you mean the little gray box with '0: 17th Shard Trainee' inside, they you're talking about reputation points. To find out more about them, try this link: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/3857-reputation-points/
  14. What you're talking about is called a Twinborn (that is, a Misting and a Ferring). Have you read the Alloy of Law? EDIT: Personally, I've always favored Zinc/Zinc.
  15. Welcome to the 17th Shard! Which of Brandon's books have you read?
  16. If only we could discuss this much in depth line-by-line for the entire book... That would be awesome. It seems closely connected with the last glimpse to me, though there isn't any concrete proof. EDIT: Ninja'd!
  17. Even if they got it quite legally, it would be hard to sell. The buyer would want to know exactly how it came into their possession. Asking those questions might find that the sword was perfectly legal, but it might uncover some of her family's other dark secrets (if it did come about legally, that is).
  18. I'd forgotten how good the Rithmatist was.

  19. You're fine as long as you don't sell it.
  20. This is very interesting, but do remember that the epigraph was a female point of view.I agree that we can't rule the Shattered Plains out. In addition, there aren't many other places (that we know of) it could be from. Namely: Shallan's Ship Kharbranth (unlikely, becaus our only known POV there is male) House Davar (past or present) Purelake? (no current confirmed POVs in WoR) Reshi (I think we've seen all of Rysn's interlude, but I'm not sure) Random Interlude That's not much. And there's only maybe one POV there. In the Shattered Plains there are three, soon to be five.
  21. Yay! I'm still only halfway through Lecture 2, but I can't wait to finish them both! (Stupid headphones. They aren't supposed to break.)
  22. I know that we got stuff from Latin or French, but that was fairly recent. I picked the actual oldest language, not just languages we borrowed heavily from. Keep in mind that Beowulf was only written at most 1300 years ago. We know that the Dawnsingers were at least 5000 years old. I seriously doubt that they could understand any of it. Do note that I think your points are all valid, and this is certainly a viable theory. I just wanted to point out that language changes faster than you might think.
