  1. Is anyone going to LTUE this Thursday-Saturday? There's a signing on Saturday. Link: http://brandonsanderson.com/im-the-toastmaster-at-ltue-this-weekend/ I am too far away, unfortunately.
  2. Ouch. That would certainly be interesting, at least.
  3. Great. That means I should probably read them. I was going to anyway, but I'm glad that you've given me a reason for getting them. So are there 80 negative ratings as well? And about how far would they go down? EDIT: Sorry for all the questions. I should stop and just wait for March. Sorry. EDIT 2: I thought of another thing. Will anything be included from that January story for the Waygate foundation? That might be good.
  4. You've seen our RPG, right? Inquisition? It's more of a sister site, but it looks like fun. And I second the 'read Way of Kings' thing. Book 2 come out March 4th! Or the 6th if you live in the UK. I mean, you don't have to read it, but that would be a great way to start participating in discussions. Welcome to the 17th Shard!
  5. For a fraction of a second I thought you were serious. That was rather scary.
  6. Great. Now to think... What could be even near Adonalsium in power? Immediate gut reaction: The Author/Brandon. Also possibly the Cosmere or Shadesmar. Actually, that makes me think of another question (sorry). Will you include title from short stories? Especially the smaller ones. Emperor's Soul is pretty reasonable, but will there be something from Shadows for Silence or the like?
  7. Keep in mind that English came from old English. The first lines of Beowulf go like this: Hwaet we gardena in geardagum beocyniga brym gefrunon. Hu a athelingas ellen fremedon. Oft Scyld Scefing sceafena phreartum, monegum machtum, medosetleah ofteah, egsode eorlas. (It has a lot of special characters in it that I couldn't do. Also, it's more pronunciation based, because I don't actually have the book on me to do the correct spellings.) Can you understand or translate that?
  8. Right. I got that. Wouldn't that be slower, though? EDIT: Will Adonalsium still be the top level?
  9. Right. The lower end makes sense, because you want to make the first few goals easily reachable and gradually increase the difficulty. But why the higher faster too? Is that because you're just going through points faster, or are there a bunch of levels close together at the top?
  10. Keep in mind that there are still more Shards out there, some of which may be morally good. This could all be right, except the conclusion, because there is a Kindness Shard out there somewhere. Other than that, it's an interesting thought.
  11. So, I didn't read the whole thread before posting. Tell me if this has been brought up before. That said, the missing Surge seems likely to be Bonding or Communication. If this were the case, you would have a good argument that Order 7, right between Elsecallers and Stonewards, is Bondsmiths. So that's an interesting connection. I hope it's right. EDIT: I apologize that this didn't make any sense before. I left out a couple of essential words.
  12. I'm halfway through the second. I think I'm going to follow along with the writing too. I mean, I was planning for Camp NaNoWriMo in April, but I guess I can start now...
  13. I think they are better. I would prefer one of your other avatars better, but then, Warbreaker is hard. It's close enough that I would probably know what I was looking at when I saw it, at least. I like the ones coming from the mouth especially.
  14. I was only listing POV characters from WoR, which we have no indication that Geranid will be in.
  15. Ok. Again. Gah. 50 points per level (on average) at least. Right now it's (only counting positives) about 80 points per rank. That may not seem like much, but it's a sizable increase because the levels go up so much higher. Oh, yes, the week of Words of Radiance sounds like a wonderful idea. Won't you be working too much, though? Managing the servers and moderating and things like that? Thanks for getting me even more excited for the first week of March.
  16. Gah. That's a lot. If it were that number, then with the previous figure of eighty we would have a change every 50 points or so. Weighted toward the beginning...Nevermind. I forgot about the negatives. So, that makes every 100 or so points a change. That'll be fun. Side note: Is the number exactly eighty? It would be neat if so, because, you know, 16x5. EDIT: I went back and counted our current ranks. We have 24, counting Adonalsium twice. That will be almost four times as much. Wow. Is there any ballpark for when the system will come into play? Like, a month or two years?
  17. What do you think?
  18. Ok, great. I see what you mean about power level. Especially between Surgebinders and AonDor Roshar and Selian magics. Tough call. (Personally, I'd say AonDor because it's less limited, but what about Forgery? Is that less powerful than, say, Hemalurgy?) And I would have no idea where to put Awakeners.Actually, wouldn't it be even worse in a specific world? Like, is a Windrunner mor powerful than a Lightweaver? What about a Mistborn vs. a Feruchemist? So how high will it go now? 4096? Higher?
  19. Okay. Thanks anyway. Congrats on being the second-ever Adonalsium!
  20. Here are the female viewpoint characters that we know of: Shallan Jasnah Eshonai Rysn Navani Lift If you can think of any more, speak up. Personally, I think Shallan is unlikely because of the military simile, as has been pointed out. Eshonai is more likely, though Jasnah is a good candidate too. Rysn... Do we know how much of her interlude we've seen? I think it's very unlikely. EDIT: Added Navani. EDIT 2: Added Lift. (Though she's not really in the running. As far as I know, we've seen her entire excerpt.) Danlan is possible, but I don't know of any evidence that she will be a viewpoint character.
  21. I like Jasnah too. Kaladin would probably be second. EDIT: I totally forgot about Wit/Hoid! Kaladin is now third.
