  1. Welcome! Have you read all of his books?
  2. Alright. Thanks for clearing that up. I wish I could read the rest of Codex Alera. I've only read the first two, as none of my local libraries have any of the others. I've recently read Game of Thrones, and I'm on a short break before I start in on Clash of Kings. I would recommend downloading Warbreaker from Brandon's website, just in case you don't have a book with you and you're bored. It's totally free, and if you're interested you can also see earlier drafts of it.
  3. No. I am not near enough, unfortunately. However, there have been comments involving livestreaming it, so that might be fun.A question: What kind of ebook? That is, do you have a Kindle, or a Nook, or do you use an iPad, or what?
  4. Does anyone care to put up the Words of Radiance chapters now?
  5. Got it. I forgot about that.
  6. strings. Seemingly impossible,
  7. What magic fish?
  8. I just pre ordered the eBook. I much prefer hardbacks, but eBooks are much easier to search, as well as carry around. I'll get the hardcover from my library once it comes in. I wouldn't get an audiobook for myself, but maybe for my mom later down the line, who almost never has time for reading. That most certainly shocks me. My aunt is a librarian, and my instincts are not happy right now. As long as you don't stain the book, I guess. *she* From another recent thread:
  9. Welcome to the 17th Shard! I like this theory. I think it has been thought of before, but nevertheless. I don't know, though. Odium is not necessarily trying to spread hate. He simply is hate. So maybe he was aiming for Honor's destruction because he hated Honor, but this seems a little complicated- could Hate really fake friendship?
  10. This is a good idea. Quibbles: I wouldn't say that Shardplate/blade is a magic system in and of itself. Rather, how about the making of Shardblades/Shardplate? Especially as they seem to have been partially duplicated by modern antifabrians. That's also an argument that this would just be a subcategory of Fabrial Science, though. Aimian shapeshifting doesn't really seem to be a magic to me. Magic would imply that only a percentage of the population has access to it while it's implied (correct me if I'm wrong) that all Aimians can shapeshift. You might be right, but I would put a question mark there. I don't think spren expression on the Physical realm counts. That's just two Realms interacting with each other, I think (which, while interesting, is not anything to do with our three Shards/Splinters-of-Shards on Roshar). Death Rattles is not a magic in its own right, but is probably caused by a magic's manifestation. I can't think of a better name for it, though. I like the name Arcanosynthesis. It seems so much more... scientific. I would say, however, that Mr. T's mental state is implied to be part of the Old Magic. That might be incorrect, but it seems likely. That's all I have to say. Very nice.
  11. The Ultimate List is made up solely of questions which are unanswered, though it has been a few weeks since it was last updated. If you'd like to create a more manageable document detailing questions you would particularly like to ask at the SF signing, that would be fine. EDIT: Also, I wish I could be at the signing. I have a number of events in San Francisco the weeks around the signing, but nothing that day. Plus there's school. Maybe next time...
  12. Great! I'm using it right now for my WoK reread. Thanks!
  13. Welcome to the 17th Shard! Personally, I like Unknown Order #5. That's the one that uses Growth and Illumination. It just seems like a cool combination to me, though some of the other magic systems are more my thing.
  14. That's quite a nice reading list. And you've read all the WoT books, not just the last three, right? You weren't quite clear on that.
  15. That's a good question! The original reason behind the title was because I ask questions a lot of the time. However, the first question is also applicable. Feel free to ask whatever you like, whenever you like, but be forewarned that you may get a few questions in return. Therefore, some questions: Are you excited for Words of Radiance? Will you be going to any of the signings? Will you buy your book, or wait for the library to get it? If you'll buy it, will it be hardback, eBook, or audiobook (or some combination of the three)?
  16. That makes sense (otherwise, it wouldn't be Alethi, it would be something like Rosharian. But Shallan writes in Alethi, doesn't she? And she's Vedenar, I think. (I don't have the book on me, so I can't check.) Of course Rock's people would have a different script (if they have one at all; they seem like a good candidate for purely oral traditions), and probably the Shinovar. Are glyphs universal, then? So that different nations can communicate easily with each other? That would make sense. Perhaps they're tied to Vorinism.
  17. I went through this entire thread today, because I was bored, and those are the most impressive keteks I've seen. Well done!
  18. Okay. Thanks! But you will be putting them up on your website, at least for the audiobook readers listeners?
  19. I'm going to reread WoK and the sample chapters the days before it comes out, so I can start it at Chapter 7 with everything still fresh in my head. I haven't decided whether I'll read 8-14 beforehand or not.
  20. I think so. I'm pretty sure it's confirmed that the face in the storm is the Stormfather. The thing we have no clue about is who the Stormfather is. (Of course, we've theorized about it anyway: a Splinter of Honor, Jezrien, another herald, a physical manifestation of the highstorms [aka a highstorm spren], etc.)I think the stormfather is likely. The only other speakers I could think of were the other Shards and/or possibly Nightwatcher. I like the idea of the Stormfather better, because it implies that Kaladin will go out in a highstorm again, or that one of the other potential Knights Radiant will. That may or may not be a necessary step to knighthood.
  21. Welcome to the 17th Shard! So, if Elantris only just came out there, does that mean it's the only book of his you've read? Or have you read others in English?
  22. Side note: Will there be versions of the artwork online for eBook readers? I know that you said you're trying to make the artwork as good as possible, but it would be nice if there were higher resolution one available online.
  23. Got it. So all the Alethi script we see will be English transliterations, but we will see the Alethi language through the glyphs?
