Yeah I think you're right. Once the kandra gains their sapience with a set of spikes, they need those specific spikes. I mean, we know that the spikes contain a bit of the original person's Identity in them, so it's the mesh of the Identities of the two spikes, plus the kandra itself, that give it a mind. Using a different spike, made from a different person, would be like having someone else's memories dumped into your head. Seriously screwy. Mistwraiths breed true, so I think there would still be mistwraiths. Sazed wouldn't have eradicated the species, imo. But they're kind of myths currently. I don't think any of the current cast has seen a mistwraith other than the kandra

The Good News Thread: I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!

<3 <3 I'm so glad to hear that Mulk! That's amazing and definitely gives me hope as well. *all the hugs* -
So he created some nobles and some skaa using the people he already knew. Remember that Alendi did conquer a number of lands, and they would have had a ruling class and "peasants" already. So he changed the ones he knew of and future conquests were just shoved into the existing system. Also, he didn't create the nuggets. I believe Leras did that some time back. The mistwraiths have a blockage in their minds that prevents them from gaining sapience. Their minds aren't being held anywhere special, they are in the same places as everyone else's. It's just that they can't access them without the spikes. This is why the kandra could create future generations--mistwraith breed true, and the kandra would select some of them to become kandra, then give them spikes to grant them their sapience. This one I can only guess at. That the prophecy just says that the Hero of Ages will save them all, and either the kandra in general, or TenSoon as he's talking to Sazed, have tacked on the "kandra, human, koloss, Inquisitor" bit. Because they were human before, so they would have to adapt the prophecy a bit to fit their current circumstances.

greaterbookwyrm What happens when you cut a kandra with a Shardblade? Brandon Sanderson So a kandra is going to react basically the same way, in that the shardblade is going to be hitting at the soul and severing it and things like that. They are not immune to Shardblades. But because they have mutable shapes, there will be a little bit of weirdness involved in that. You'll get to see that happen eventually. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/324-emerald-city-comic-con/#e9262

Not at all. There is actually a huge long thread about a similar subject. It's just a fullborn is super overpowered, and if they have atium and take the fight seriously, they're unbeatable.
-
Compounding pewter would fix that. Or atium to avoid it in the first place.

Interesting. Though the Knight Radiant was mentioned specifically, that WoB has a lot of implications.

I'd call Nale Lawful Neutral, actually. I don't think he cares what's right or wrong any more. He just follows the law and he doesn't care who or what he hurts, as long as he doesn't break the law. So he has both good and bad actions, which is why I call him Lawful Neutral.

He says something about how he often held a little stormlight by reflex, even in that very tattoo scene

Not exactly two-dimensional. But flat, yes. I thought it was confirmed that the Heralds are linked? The Stormfather talks about it.

Oh I think I know what's happening here. The Cognitive Realm is flat. It also grows and shrinks based on whether people (human or not) are thinking about and/or living there. Uninhabited space like oceans gradually peters out and transitions into actual space. Since Scadrial is mostly just 2 continents, there's a lot of ocean where nothing lives and no one is thinking much about, which makes its transition to actual outside-of-atmosphere space less obvious and quicker. The Cognitive Realm has its own inhabitants and life forms that don't....completely...rely on people thinking about them to grow. Actual life and objects are represented by misty shapes. I think the plant-like growths are CR lifeforms, like spren except not at all sentient or mobile. Maybe like plants that people imagine? Unsure. Ah. I think the similarity is semi-coincidental. Like, they are both very traumatic experiences involving the soul. Kelsier's dying, so he's getting ripped from his body. Ash feels the part of her that was joined with Jezrien being ripped away. You might think of it as Ash feeling second hand what Kelsier felt first hand? She's feeling Jezrien's soul being ripped from his body.

[OB] The Fourth Oath, the Oath of Abandoment
RShara replied to MountainKing's topic in Stormlight Archive
Jasnah is implied to be 4th or possibly even 5th. Nale definitely is 5th. Shallan should also be on 4. -
Killing him normally would just cause him to respawn on Braize. They had to capture his soul or whatever investiture let him respawn, in order to prevent that. And there might be other uses for whatever they took from him, that we haven't seen yet. Also, he was likely invested enough to count as a small splinter of Honor. Bigger than an honorspren, much smaller than the Stormfather. Warbreaker spoilers

To watch the flame wars when people pronounce it differently

Why not? Because he liked the look of it, because the subtle S was nice? Why name Rock Numuhukumakiaki'aialunamor when he knows few readers and few characters are ever going to call him that?

Welcome to the 17th Shard! Here is a recent thread about the subject with some good discussion. I really doubt the dagger is anywhere near as powerful as Nightblood. The dagger seems to be using some form of Hemalurgy.

It's mostly Zeth with a little hint of an S at the beginning.

1. Pretty much as soon as he left the "land" portion of the continent, he was on the fridges of space. WoB says that he wasn't quite in interstellar space but definitely off the planet by the time he reached the Ire. 2. I'm not sure I understand the question here, sorry. 3. The CR doesn't follow exactly the same rules as the Physical Realm. Also, Kelsier isn't alive. The CR is (at least for now) made up entirely of Investiture. Any perception of breathing, gravity, eating, etc, is like the Residual Self Image in Matrix. You do it because you perceive you're doing it, and because you're used to it. 4. Because the CR is shaped by sapient thought, and the sapient beings we know all expect gravity and such to function, the CR has gravity. 5. Can you give the context for this question? I don't remember what scene describes this.

The problem with coating things in aluminum is that yes, aluminum will cancel out investiture. But it's still a thin coat of a relatively soft and weak metal. Whereas Shardblades are hard, sharp, pointy objects meant to slice and dice.
