Hmm.

Okay, I have to say: I'm kind of curious, thanks to the MLP avatar. Who is Best Pony? Also: what your favorite book, and why? Note: I don't mean favorite Sanderson book, or even favorite fictional story- just what is your favorite book, period.

Well, I stole the idea from Brandon, so i don't think I can claim all the credit... but it's awesome to see other people doing the AMA thing! Now I just need to try and come up with half-decent questions for everyone... (Plus, everyone seems to go for actual real answers, where I've been trying un-funny snark, so I might start copying them. So I'm stealing their fads now?) I like how fast my hair grows. It means I can start to hide behind my fringe, Fluttershy-style, when I get nervous. ...What do you mean, that doesn't count? Fine. I don't know if it's a quality, but I do like how analytical I can be when it comes to things; it's one of the skills I actually do have some pride in (even if I am constantly nervous that I'm saying something offensive, appear pretentious, or am just plain wrong). I think I do bring something new to the table whenever I analyse work, even if it's just something as not-relevant as offering alternative character interpretations; honestly, one of my favorite things I've done on this site were the commentaries/analysis I tried to offer when Feather was posting her Pacific Rim RPG. And, as the link in my signature shows... I also like the analysis I did for MLP, and I have been meaning to get back to it; I finally got another copy of the first season's episodes, so I might start that again. (On a similar note, I read an MLP fanfiction a friend of mine did, and ended up with a completely opposite response- I thought the ending was uplifting when she meant it to be tragic. When I apologized for it, she said not to, because she really liked my argument and interpretation of the scene... so that kind of cheered me up a little). On the other hand, it's a little more difficult to just relax and enjoy something, particularly cinema. For a recent example... I liked Jurassic World, but the whole time I was also thinking "It would be cool if they did this instead", or "I wish they had done X". I have a similar issue with some books... including Brandon's. I just can not read Elantris, because the writing just feels wrong in some way, and whenever I try to read the Stormlight Archive I get disinterested with Kaladin's chapters.

If it took five or six AMA's to get this fad it's own board, how many MLP topics do I have to make to get Pony it's own board?

The Rainbow Rocks soundtrack is awesome, so no judgements there. Also, YES. All the pony fan fiction! ...Speaking of which, figure this would be the best place to leave this: would anyone be interested in proofreading/beta-reading my pony fiction stories? I'm still working on one at the moment, but just wondering if anyone would be interested.

Nope. More Star Trek these days, provided we're ignoring the Abrams films. Honestly, I kind of like the Prequels? Revenge of the Sith is awesome, at least. I'm not a big fan of A New Hope or Jedi, so... That said, I'm kind of looking forward to the Disney Trilogy. Please don't. No, don't encourage her, this is an awful idea! Only the fourth one. I'm not a huge fan of the young audience Discworlds; I couldn't really get behind Maurice and his Amazing Rodents, either. They are releasing a fifth though, so I ought to get caught up on it. Ew. Yellow, mostly.

Vin, especially in the Final Empire. Her obsessive thought process and paranoia is very familiar to me.

First, I really recommend watching Rainbow Rocks. Its much better than EqG, and does a great job developing Sunset. As for Flash... The joke is that he's a waifu stealer. In reality I think the problem is because of his role in the story. MLP always did a good job of not falling into clichés about romance, most obviously in the Hearts and Hooves episode. Flash, however, is very clearly the "Love Interest" for Twilight...and the problem is he doesn't have a role beyond that. His only purpose in the story is as a ship tease, which is frustrating since the show never went there before. Now, there's nothing wrong with romance, of course...but being the "designated love interest" is as much a problem for guys as it is for women in mainstream cinema. And unfortunately, Flash doesn't really show much of a personality to make up for that role. He's a decent dude, kind of clumsy, owns a cool car and jacket and... is nice? Its not a very interesting character, and MLP is a show founded on colourful characters. Honestly, the worst part is that he had potential. They drop the idea that he was Sunsets ex-, but never really does anything with it. He's a decent guy...but he's not very interesting. (Yet. Future films could flesh him out, and the fanon could add stuff...but he doesn't really stand out in Equestrian (he hasn't even gotten a line in the show), whereas the human version is hamstringed by the giant "Designated Love Interest" stamp on his forehead).

Well, the movie was released in the UK today, so some friends and I are going to see it this evening. I have... some nostalgia for Jurassic Park. It's one of those movies which I know was a big deal in my childhood, and which I always wanted to see... but I never really did. I saw it more recently- channels have been running reruns of the trilogy leading up to this, obviously- and while I like it, I'm not going into Jurassic World with particularly rose-tinted glasses. Anyone else planning on seeing the film?

I honestly am not sure what there is to say about the animation, to be honest. It's beautiful as is; I could certainly comment on it, and pick out specific moments and ideas I like from it, but I don't know if I'd be able to do a whole in-depth commentary that would just devolve to gibbletish and "WATCH IT NOW" comments. (Incidently, if you're looking for other cool animations, I suggest checking out Silly Filly Studios on youtube; they released a video about Celestia and Luna's confrontation with Sombra a while ago. I have issues with it, narratively... but it's a good piece). I order: I dunno. Nope. I never ramen; I survived by getting takeaway food a lot. Like I've said, my diet is awful. unfortunatly, yes. Which I know because every night I am plagued by nightmarees of me failing exams from college... As for hat? I'unno. I guess I like those hats you always see gentlemen wearing in steampunk.Victorian films? Those are cool. I've never ate pizza. You founded the Knights Awkward, so clearly you are intelligent and articulate, as well as funny and creative... not to mention I just like the fact that there are new guilds in the social forum. We have ponies. More specifically, we have a fan base which doesn't prejudice or insult others for things they are interested in, whether that video games, movies, fantasy, science fiction, anime, books, roleplaying, superheroes or even My Little Pony. You guys are so accepting that people don't feel the need to hide things or be ashamed of being fans of something. And that kind of openmindedness is awesome, especially in the so-iften vitriolic place known as the Internet.

I recommend Warbreaker; it's Brandons strongest novel, in my opinion. You should also finish the Mistborn series, since there are new Mistborns out at the end of the year. Hope that helps; enjoy the forum!

Well, this is the Bad Day thread, I had to give you something to feel miserable about. ...Totally agree though. I think right now, the only Justice Leaugers not confirmed for the film are Flash and Green Lantern. (Spoilers for comic readers)
