  1. Then you could just laugh and be like, it's magic guys. Good luck.
  2. Well, if you thought that every religion was possibly right, then learnt that the deity behind most of them was in fact evil and not really a god at all... Then yes. It would be like learning that Santa was actually a mass murderer, and the cookies and milk are begging that he not slaughter us in his sleep.
  3. Lents finishes the final piece of engraved scrollwork. His cannon is ready. Each of Lents's joints are sheathed in machinery, clasped to fly off at the slightest Push or Pull. It's time to see what's going down in this town. Perhaps he should wash. He hasn't done that in a while. Nah. Lents scuttles out of his shop, creeps around the perimeter of the square, and sidles into Cyrus's, whirring and clanking audibly the whole time. In retrospect, perhaps the clockwork mask was a little much. He's getting some odd looks.
  4. I'd say, holy crap a super powered evil entity. I wouldn't call it a god.
  5. A key thing is, Bridge 4 and Kal may still think that Surgebinding is a thing that can be taught, so Lopen is remarking on Kal's success and saying that once they figure out how to do it too...
  6. Lopen is glowing - he's infused Lopen is thinking he can fly in the future - either by himself or with Kaladin's help. I would laugh so hard if Lopen turns out to be a Surgebinder.
  7. Isn't it a woman? She may be the Terris worldhopper we've heard about.
  8. At some point, they start to look like turtles.
  9. So the spren that makes Syl cooler, it can do that cause it has a spren too, ad infinitum?
  10. No. I just like the series.
  11. Lopen flies into the sky. Two minutes later, a very surprised parshman is splashed with the contents of a latrine pit as a madly laughing one-armed Herzadashian plummets out of the blue.
  12. Kaladin can fly! Yeeeessss!
  13. It gets no less crazy. There are fat mines, fat wizards, orcs playing soccer, semaphore telegraphs, elves, goblins, ridiculous and touching moments. It. Gets. Better. Whatever it is you like about the first books, you'll like about the later ones, and whatever you don't like will show up again and this time, you will love that it's there.
  14. Oh, Latin.
  15. Of course, windspren playing pranks could wreak havoc with you, and you alone - a single spren could make your gun inaccurate while not impacting your opponent at all.
  16. No, seriously, it's unrecognisably different, in all the good ways. Don't start with the first ones.
  17. Or, you know, he's just a huge frickin dude who can pick up logs and use them like some people use daggers, with a natural gift for archery.
  18. On Discworld: Forget the first few, and start with a later one. Most of them can be read out of order, but if you need to, check the wikipedia page for the character arcs. It stays silly, but the frame of reference evolves considerably, to the point where it's dealing with everything from racism to abused fantasy tropes magnificently, and making you laugh every other sentence. My favourite book might be Monstrous Regiment for the masterful twist, but it's not the best written in the series despite being excellent.
  19. Never
  20. Lents has any and all mechanic, ceramic, decorative or functional pieces. If it exists, he'll make one, and if it doesn't, he'll invent one.
  21. Welcome back!
  22. Whoops! Misunderstanding! Sorry!Edit: and he wasn't Thrilled, hmm... OK that would just be a ridiculous leap.
  23. Feather, you would be a minor character stepping into the middle of an epic fantasy plot, wanting to get attached to major one. That's just about BEGGING to get killed.
  24. It is new. It means that a full Feruchemist or a Hemalurgic any metal + aluminum Ferring could give any allomancer Compounding - though they couldn't store it in metalminds obviously.
  25. Despite the cliché, Gaz becoming a bridge man would have been perfect, especially if events put him back into his old sergeant-without-a-hope position under Kaladin's former bridgeman force.
