  1. Herdazians are humans with weird nails. Aimian seem to be shapeshifting and have shadows pointing the wrong way, as well as possibly being immortal.Easy to mix up though.
  2. Good luck with getting the beta then
  3. Yeah, it would. Once we've seen more Rithmatic marks that are good for more than just dueling, maybe that.
  4. My problem is that at 500 wpm, I can't blink or I miss things. Besides, my wpm is already above that.
  5. The tinker sits inside his shop, clockwork faces moving slowly on the walls - the metal plates are arranged to slide over each other, create slow expressions. There is a table in front of him, covered in a fine blue tablecloth. Gears, springs, cogs and other minutae are arranged in boxes to his left, while tools and and the creation he labours over sit to his left. His work is nearly done, a small project. Though Blackwater has seen peace - that rare commodity - recently, there's a scent in the air. Lents places a fingernail-sized gear onto an axle, presses a drop of solder in. The design should function under normal circumstances, now. The reinforcing and plating can come later. He pulls up his jeweller's lens, examines his creation in the dim light. A thing of metal, susceptible to Allomancy itself, yet deadly should it be allowed to fire. The clockwork cannon can fit in a pocket, and it will fire shards of pottery, the chamber adjusting for any size. Lents puts it aside for now. He will mount it among the masks later, so it is indistinguishable from the mechanics already adorning the walls. The trigger will be a thread, and there will be dozens - enough to cover the entire shop, if necessary. The jeweller's glass slides down again. There is work to be done.
  6. My chinese isn't great, but did you just say "7 arrow"?
  7. ...Chaos, I'd say you're preaching to the choir, but it's more like dangling a fat, juicy, roast pig just out of reach of a mosh pit of starving hyenas, then eating that pig. And dropping in the TOENAILS for us to fight over. Did I say us? I meant the hyenas.
  8. Still, it basically means that the upper crust of society (and probably a lot more once Surgebinders start popping up in the next few years) have access to something that could inhibit cancer, do a full-body blood transfusion, even Soulcast drugs into your blood directly. Imagine a Soulcaster who specialises in boosting people's blood with a cocktail of supersoldier drugs.
  9. The pain thresholds of some people in that series... The Greatjon, for example. He makes a joke after his fingers are cut off. That's not very realistic, because he clearly isn't going into shock either.
  10. You know, despite Jasnah saving Shallan, I'd never though about the possibilities of Soul casting for those with blood conditions.
  11. Yes. He said "Everything Hoid says is important," or something to that effect.
  12. If every character was mundane, realistic, and unfunny, it wouldn't be much of a fantasy, would it?
  13. I'm thinking Pattern's Cognitive blockage is lasting a little long...
  14. Szeth lashed that rock to a point in the sky, and you could just use Lashings to reduce your arrival speed as well, though that would lengthen the trip...
  15. The Silence Divine, an unpublished story we're inferring from WoB.
  16. Lents the tinker. If you have it, he'll fix it, for a price. He'll take whatever junk he can get and work them in his tinker's shop. If you visit, sometimes it feels like those metal statues...watch, somehow. Lents tends to wear his prized possession, a jeweler's lens, quite carelessly. Miraculously, it hasn't broken.
  17. Yeah, the boxes are kind of covered with "don't open until" signs. Someone made a shelving error, I'm thinking.
  18. Why is that a problem? If a clearchip buys a loaf of bread, and a loaf of bread seems to give her several minutes of slickings plus regrowing a slit throat, then she may actually be at an advantage in terms of value. I suppose food isn't rechargeable like gems, but if you can't get food anyway, you're in trouble. The weepings especially might give her an advantage, if infused spheres start to run out by the end. I'm just really hoping to see more of our favourite Awesome Edgedancer.
  19. That's cause they're all links
  20. Yeah, I swear that dude would get mobbed by adoring Cryptics if he ever went to Roshar.
  21. If you get WoR, can you post a picture of it on top of the book?
  22. Buy, for the sheer hilarity of a sentient fractal and a glowy blue wind spirit duking it out. Especially as a background fight: "Good day, brightlady," Kaladin said, meeting the strange girl's eyes. "May I ask your business at the Kholin residence?" In the background, Syl was eyeing the ground, lips moving as if she was saying something. Whatever it was, Kaladin heard not a word. Suddenly, she gasped - that was audible. "Oh no you didn't," Syl hissed, and dove at the ground, dress warping into a set of spearman's armour. She swung fists at a seemingly blank patch of rock, then recoiled as if stung. Kaladin forced himself not to look at the spectacle. The lighteyed girl was blushing a little, and her eyes seemed to dart towards the rock Syl attacked. "I'm here to see Brightlord Adolin Kholin, spearman. Perhaps you'd like to search my satchel and safepouch while you interrogate me?" The was a crack of thunder, and Kaladin saw that Syl was little more than an incandescent blue whirlwind now, battering back and forth as if sparring.I wonder... "I'm certain that won't be necessary, Brightlady. Please, this way..." Shen is going to save Kaladin's life.
  23. Why The Pinball Jumps?
  24. Well, she doesn't really need spheres, does she? It's even possible that her unique abilities inhibit her ability to take Stormlight from spheres.
