MR74: The Politics of Gods
Araris Valerian replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Aman, TOW, and Penguin are alive and didn't vote last cycle. I adjusted the numbers in the doc; I didn't account for myself. Penguin didn't vote deliberately, it's hard to say for the other two. If I had to exe one of them it would be in the order Aman, Peng, TOW. As promised, BBB. I find your voting patterns suspicious given the flips we've had, at least if we assume that the elims have been voting each cycle. I'm actually a bit more suspicious of Doc but he's going to be away for a while and if I'm right the two of you are on a team together anyway. -

Alright. All y'all that said exeing TS would give us lots of info, let's hear it. Also thank you elims for NKing an inactive. I still want to kill you all, but maybe a bit less now. Edit: I'm gonna vote for Doc as soon as someone else posts. Edit 2: Or maybe BBB, since Doc won't really be able to respond -

Bondsmith is gonna vote BBB, but that still leaves 4 votes on TS and 3 on BBB, right? -

Well, my vote doesn’t really matter, but I do think I prefer TS over BBB. I’ll move to KSauce. Guess everyone else has 15 minutes extra to react. Edit for clarity: Penguin -

Y'all realize that there aren't actually ties in this game, right? Or at least, there is no randomization to the exe. In case of a tie, whichever train has the highest seniority voter on it goes through. -

I misunderstood you. I thought you were saying I should be more suspicious of Doc. Also, to everyone who is saying TS gives us the most information, please elaborate as to what we learn from a v!TS flip. Because I’m fairly sure it’s less than we would learn from considering a wider pool of exe candidates today. And like I said, there doesn’t seem to be a secondary case for TS other than info. -

This was a typo. I kept confusing Polly and TS when writing that post for some reason. -

But that's on her, not us. The only folks with an in-game reason to not try and find elims are the elims themselves. So quiet folks should always be on our radar for exeing, unless they give an IRL reason for their behavior. Exeing some that has been quiet doesn't generate a ton of information, but here we have some alternative options so that's not as big of a deal. -

Araris Valerian replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Anyone who is being quiet is suspicious. Why do you say it's relevant that Doc placed the first vote? In general I'd say the first vote on a player is insignificant compare to the later ones, at least during C1 when it's all pretty much random anyways. I don't think we should all just hop on the TwinStorm train. For one thing, the only real reason to exe Polly is that an elim flip would reveal something about the vote changes C1. But TwinStorm hasn't been been suspicious in and of themselves (or if someone disagrees, feel free to elaborate). TOW I have a mild village read on but would like to hear from. Especially if Polly is village, we don't want to let the elims rest on a free exe Twinstorm is interesting. I'm getting slight village vibes from the vote on BBB but would like to hear a broader range of exe candidates, especially since a bunch of folks see you as the default option for today Polly has been quiet, and so I'd say she's a reasonable alternative to TS I'd exe Peng in a heartbeat, he's been around but not participating much. At the very least I'm curious whether you think exeing TS is a good option today, or who you would offer as an alternative otherwise Doc I have a base reluctance to exe because of how much fun it was chatting with him last game. While he sat on the same vote all game, which could be complacent elim behavior, he did justify that vote. Hasn't spoken up today. Would you join me on Penguin? Aman is like Doc, I have a base reluctance to exe him. As has been mentioned, he could be e/e with TS but otherwise I'd like to hear more. I am a cuddly stuffed bear KSauce is similar to Polly/Peng. Low activity and not a lot to go off of. I'd be happy with a CD exe, mostly on gut. I'm not sure about Hoid, but he's putting out enough content I'm happy to wait a while and see how my read of him develops I've got a light village read on BBB from D1, and probably from today, because tunneling is kinda villagery. But nothing I'm completely sold on So I guess I'm fine exeing Polly, Peng, CD, KSause, and TS. Curious if anyone is opposed or in favor to any of those options in particular. -

This reads like elim foreknowledge to me. I don't have strong feelings on TwinStorm one way or another, but that's a far cry from thinking that exeing them is a waste. -

Suppose TwinStorm flips village. Who would you go for next? -
MR74: The Politics of Gods
Araris Valerian replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
As BBB said, Aman and Hoid were the last 2 votes on TUH. Certainly an e!TwinStorm flip would implicate one or both of them, and that’s worth keeping in mind as we decide who to exe today. -

I'm curious if Penguin can muster anything other than a retaliatory vote this cycle. My other initial vote thoughts would be CD, Doc, and Polly. The former 2 (along with BBB, who I have a light village read on) voted on TwinStorm, and that train seems like a decent place for an elim to hide. And Polly is pretty self-explanatory I think. -
MR74: The Politics of Gods
Araris Valerian replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Nah, villagers want everyone dead also. The village wins if there is only a single villager alive, which means a win-condition for every villager is to eliminate all other players. We may be quibbling over definitions here. I consider a poke vote to be a vote you place on someone where the implied condition of the vote's removal is a post of any kind. Anything more sticky than that I would say is just a regular vote. If the person knows you don't actually want to exe them, then there's no threat of exe. Maybe you realize this, but that's why I'm emphasizing the primary purpose of votes as a killing tool. -

@Amanuensis If the previous VC was correct: Then this should be the new one: Doc12/Evi: (1) ThatOneWorldHopper Araris Valerian/Arlun: (2) IcedOutPenguin, TUH TwinStorm/Matrim: (4) Hoid, Aman, Doc12, BBB TheUnknownHammerer/D'delaier: (2) xxGaea, Araris BBB: (2) Twinstorm, CD No guarantees on the accuracy though. Why is the risk of getting your target exed a bad thing? Isn't the primary point of voting to kill folks? -

Neither. At the time of this post there are just over 2.5 hours left. Maybe not what you said word-for-word, but it sounded to me like you would chill until you were forced to do otherwise. Seems like a reasonable person would want to force you to do otherwise sooner rather than later. I’m opposed to the votes on BBB. While I may not 100% agree with all his votes/posts, his reaction to my prodding seemed genuine and from more of a village perspective. -

Honestly, I was just pushing at you (somewhat tongue-in-cheek) to see how you’d respond. It’s totally fine to agree with someone’s reasoning and follow their vote. I was trying to see if you thought the circumstances around your vote matched Twinstorm’s, or if you see a relevant difference. You still haven’t really addressed that point. I voted on TUH because he said he wouldn’t engage if there was no pressure on him, and I would hope that would be clear given the context of the post. Given that’s his stance, voting on him is pretty much pro-village regardless of his alignment. -
Yeah, we’ll have simultaneous extended and regular LG signups.

As the person you’re voting on. It looks to me like you are tagging on someone who is already facing pressure - and Hoid doesn’t like it, even if it’s a bit blatant for an elim. -

I think you missed my point, since I way trying to communicate the value in taking the initiative with your own votes instead of blindly picking others to follow. Not to mention that if everyone sits around waiting for someone else to place the first vote, we'd end up with no votes. Could you elaborate a bit more on why you this this is (potentially blatant) elim behavior? Spoilered because it's mostly meta discussion that doesn't really help the game: -

I said it was pointless (roughly equal to a non-committal poke vote), which is different from bad. Part of the problem comes from the statement that the vote is retaliatory. I’m also skeptical of your claim that elims would back down in response. Do you have examples of this? As I said, there isn’t actually any pressure. -
MR74: The Politics of Gods
Araris Valerian replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Generally agree on Penguin and new players but as you say, not a whole lot else to go on. My other thought is related to TOW’s response to my vote. “I would vote for X except for Y” is odd when no reason for voting is given to begin with. So maybe I’ll build a second mini-porch on that hill in case the other one burns down.
