  1. Hello, Hmmm! I'll bombard you with some random information! This is a fansite of Brandon Sanderson's works, as you should hopefully know. Most of the forums' purposes can be determined by exploring, and most are self-explanatory. However, if you haven't read all the Cosmere works yet (adult fiction like Mistborn, Way of Kings, Elantris, etc.) I'd stay away from the Cosmere Theories section. Major spoilers there. There's a reputation system that works on upvotes/downvotes on posts. Those are the red and green arrows on the corners of every post. Upvotes for if a post was funny/awesome/helpful/whatever, downvotes if it was offensive or very, very bad in some way. Your total reputation is the number underneath your picture on the side in the box. (That wasn't confusing at all.) If you're at zero rep, like you are now, you're a "Spren." The names don't really do anything except provide amusement. Rep doesn't mean anything, but it makes you feel accomplished. Try not to double post, as a general warning. If you've read Mistborn, you probably understand what I mean when I say that if anyone offers you a cookie it's spiked. If you don't, just know that it's not alcohol. It's literal spikes. Explore! Have fun! I'd give you an introductory upvote, but I've hit my upvote quota for today. Anyway, go thee forth and do stuff!
  2. Ah, the fabled Sultan of the NaNo cabin! Hello! *waves fingers* So Slowswift got you to join? That's awesome. I have yet to convince any real-life friends to join, though a lot of my social life seems to be centered around this website. For the first time in my life I'm relatively popular sort of! Hurrahs and cheers all around! Anyway. Welcome to the forums! Don't be deterred by the DA; they're really quite sweet(ish) once they stop attempting to give you spiked cookies. They're quite high in iron. ...are you interested in joining the Knights Awkward? It's where awkward people of all ages can sit around a couple of warm fluorescent light bulbs and attempt to read the entire Stormlight Archives in one sitting. We're also shameless enough to give plugs in introduction threads. Mint that's not too sharp. Cool mint, probably? I'm not even sure if that's a toothpaste flavor; it's the name of a flavor of gum I like, so maybe... Welcome, welcome, and keep an eye on Slowswift. He's probably up to something.
  3. Most just found Fable and Ven. You can chase her off, if you want. Also, she's got a substantial amount of metal on her.
  4. OOC (not sure how to change color on this device): Cosmere City's back? Storms yes! Mist, my only character
  5. More Shakespeare! "Goat delighteth not me." "Double, double, goats and trouble..." "'What dost thou read, young Hamlet?' 'Goats.'" "Soft! The fair goat! Nymph, in all thy orisons be all my sins remembered." "...to bear the goats and slings of time..."
  6. So... much... stuff I need to do... And all I want to do is rewatch the RSC's version of Hamlet and maybe some Doctor Who.

Um. I'm afraid I can't really advise you on this, as I do the same. As I'm doing now... I should be writing, but instead I'm Sharding. :P

      Yep... Same...

  7. Anyone else completely geeking out about New Horizons? Pluto! Charon! Hydra! Nix! We have PICTURES! And they're awesome! We're getting images of Kerberos and Styx in mid-October, though. So... long... Pluto likely has geologic activity! It has new mountains and plains... and it has a heart on it. (I think the first thing goes for Charon, too. Charon also has a canyon that's miles deep.)
  8. What about someone newer? I vote Kaymyth for her unyielding enthusiasm and contributions to the site, willingness to talk about the Egyptian religion she follows (which is extremely interesting, by the way) and her awesomeness in the form of MAKING CHAINMAIL. If that isn't awesomeness in the form of metal, I don't know what is.
  9. Ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin' a goat! Stayin' a goat! "I don't want to goat." (I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.) The Emperor's New Goat Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamgoat "He will goat four times." "I looked into the goat... and the goat looked into me." "Clara, be my pal. Tell me... am I a good goat?" "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled goats yearning to breathe free..." "To goat or not to goat, that is the question." And for a more obscure reference (yet my personal favorite scene) from Hamlet- "Slander, sir! For it says here that old goats have gray beards, and their faces are wrinkled..." (If you haven't read/seen that scene, go do it now. It's Act 2 Scene 2. It's awesome.) From the same scene from Hamlet: "These tedious old goats!" Also same scene: "You cannot, sir, take from me anything that I will more willingly part withal- except my goat, except my goat, except my goat." "Out, darned goat! Out I say!" Maybe I should stop here.
  10. That... was... beautiful... *ahem* *storyteller face*
  11. I only know quark as the theoretical thing in string theory. So yogurt. Blueberry yogurt. With great skill. You have to sever the soup's soul before you can scoop up a spoonful of broth, so it's quite difficult, not to mention unwieldy because of its size. It is very useful if you forget utensils on a camping trip, though. Um. I rather like the trumpet, really. Maybe the fluglehorn, because of its epic name.
  12. Paradox is named Most Paradoxical of the Knights Awkward. Serve honorably and well.
  13. IT'S BEAUTIFUL. I WANT. Excuse me while I find a bowl my mother doesn't necessarily care about.
  14. I'm descended from a lot of European royalty, though to be honest a lot of people are. I'm very proud of the fact that I am descended from King Louie the Fat, who had to have a specially reinforced carriage so it wouldn't break under his weight. I'm also descended (a long, long ways back) from some Egyptian person, so I'm technically kind of African. I do not look like it at all. Please don't laugh at us white people who think we're tan, Hispanics, let us continue dreaming.
  15. Strange things about myself? I've got plenty. Though maybe I should keep some to tell a psychiatrist. I, like Wilson and Maxal, am left handed. I am OCD. Very OCD. This applies to hand motions. If I pretend to unscrew the lid of a jar, I have to screw it back on and set it on an imaginary table. Then I have to avoid knocking into the table. If I just drop the jar, then that means there's glass all over the ground and... I think you get my point. I also ascribe human emotions to inanimate objects. Like if someone says "Stupid ottoman!" I think they should apologize because its feelings were hurt. I randomly burst into song all the time. All. The. Time. And it's anything from Les Mis to "three chartreuse buzzards." I also finished WOR in two days. They were beautiful days, devoid of all human interaction. I have five siblings. My nicknames range from Southeast to Estroid. I can do Tae Kwon Do?
  16. Off to another camp. See you all on Saturday!

  17. Hello and welcome to the craziness that is 17th Shard! Have an introductory upvote. Also, if someone around here offers you a cookie, there are metal spikes in them. Hemalurgic spikes, which you'll understand once you read the Mistborn trilogy. Anyway. Welcome and have fun catching up on all the theories!
  18. Storms yes.[Musing] Yes, several different recipes for chouta... One or two for baywraps... Maybe something about rutabaga... Men's food, women's food... [/Musing]
  19. ...Only normal, flour-butter-cocoa-sugar brownies from me. I don't do spikes. Though I don't really have a choice, not having allomantically pure invested spikes lying around the house. It's quite the tragedy.
  20. That would be awesome!
  21. They're so beautiful... Seriously though, your drawings are amazing. Even your rough sketches are fabulous. Try as I might, what I draw always seems to turn out like Ghost Kelsier #1... When I try to draw a horse. Though I can draw a passable foot. I'm good at feet. ...don't ask.
  22. "Um... You are accepted?" Mistrunner frowns and tries to think up a way to keep Quiver from stealing all the guilds' magical powers, then promptly gives up and goes to grab a snack instead.
  23. In response to my response to kaellok's post, see my edit to said post. I misunderstood and took offense where there was none to take, and I apologize. On another note, this discussion has given me a lot of respect for different religions/beliefs! I would've been afraid to ask some of the questions I've had about different religions other places on the internet, but I've had them answered here very understandably (I am definitely no theologian; I don't get the fancy jargon a lot of religious stuff comes packaged in) and without any heated debates, though there have been some thoughtful and respectful ones (more of discussion, really). You're all amazing, and whatever you believe, I wish you happiness with it! Have a brownie.
  24. Ah, downvotes. If you're going to downvote a post, please tell me why! I can't do better without knowing what I did wrong.

    1. Sarcasm

      Sarcasm

Accidental downvotes do happen, but I totally see what you mean.

  25. Sorry... Should've made that more clear.I follow church leaders, and he(?) said that they could only tell him "who to hate." So, if I follow their teachings, by this logic I'm hateful as well. Doesn't make me feel nice. Besides, I sustain our leaders, and if they are terrible bigots that means I support that. Does that make sense?
