  1. Well, seeing as this site normally gives me my Sanderson fix, and WoR will have more of that than I can handle... I think I won't really be on, mostly because I won't need to be on.
  2. I bet you're right. Great timing, Shardlet, especially since we know you'll be vindicated within a few days.
  3. Oh, wow. Mine is supposed to get here right on time. I'm still going with the kindle first, though; if all goes according to plan, then I'll get it at nine tomorrow.
  4. I like this idea a lot more. It just feels like more of a gift, if you feel. So, how would that effect me from the San Francisco signing?
  5. I've always believed that the lunar cycle affects Highstorms, and maybe Desolations. In fact, I plan on asking Brandon at the San Francisco signing.
  6. Yeah, after shooting yourself in the head with a shotgun half a dozen times. You don't get to "not feeling pain" until you've gone through enough hell to make the Heralds feel blessed.
  7. I suspect that 1 main cosmere book a year is about right, and seeing as there's about 30 left, I'd say that there will be about thirty more years of cosmere goodness. Other books, like AoL or Steelheart, don't factor into this.
  8. Yeah, he did.
  9. I have a few questions that for sure I will try and ask: 1.In hemalurgy, when the Spike is pounded through Marsh's eyes, what immediately happens to ensure his survival? 2. Allomancers are Allomancers because, among other things, they have more Innate Preservation than other Scadrians. By this token, why are Feruchemists Feruchemists? 3.Does aluminum have an atium shadow? Does anything not have an atium shadow? 4. If you make an aluminum box, and put a steel bar in said box, can you push on the steel? 5. Does aluminum react differently to time bubbles? 6. Is the bubble of deadened air created by a smoker similar to the one created by a bendalloy or cadmium misting? How does the range for a Seeker work? 7. In the Alloy of Law era, is the extra Ruinous energy that Sazed has given to the koloss to grant them sentience? 8. If you gathered enough investiture in a Spike, could you create a metal with similar effects to Lerasium? 9. How much Investiture does Nalthis have compared to Scadrial and Roshar? 10. Could Shardplate function as a space suit? 11. Are the moons of Roshar significant in the story of the SA? 12. If you take a Scadrian mistwraith, give him his blessings that were created from some Arelish people, could he become an Elantrian? 13. If you make a mistwraith born in Arelon, could he become an Elantrian? 14. If Kelsier's force ghost went to the Forests of Hell, would he manifest as a shade? 15. If a Seon went to the Forests of Hell, would he manifest as a shade? 16. Could a spren be formed from a mass-delusion? 17. Are there "mobspren"? 18. Who's your favorite original Shardholder? 19. Are the frequencies and/or intensities of Highstorms affected by the lunar cycle? 20. How did Kelsier know it would take 300 years for the atium to reform? That's all for right now. Whew, that's a lot.
  10. Heh, I know nothing, other than the speculation I've seen in the other threads that touch on this. -Peter This should impact things significantly, I think. It was in a fairly recent thread. Great job, Leiyan, he who knows more about moons than I do.
  11. This is awesome. Just one piece of info to add to your brilliant coalition of information: I'm pretty sure that Peter said that they do not have perfect orbits (can't remember exact terminology, but sometimes they are really close to Roshar, and other times really far. An eliptical orbit, I think). But anyways, this is cool. I think I'm going to ask Brandon about this at the signing.
  12. Whoot! Another Californian! And every one else is Australian or Canadian. Go figure.
  13. United-Statsian, California. Bay area, I guess, if you need specifics.
  14. Yeah, that's what I was getting. We had to learn that song for Valentine's day in school, and on the day of the actual performance, I must've sang it two dozen times. I love the song from both a musical and artistic reason for many of the reason's you outlined, and how well it works within the movie. It is my favorite Frozen song.
  15. The real question is, could you survive on the moons? If you can't, then the question's mostly moot (because our characters die soon after reaching the destination. Life before destination, in this case ).
  16. Barely any, but yes, in chapter 16 of the first book.
  17. When it implies Shallan has a shardblade in such an offhand matter. It took two rereads OF THE BOOK for me to come to terms with that. And Kaladin's Shardblade arch is as breathtaking as Dalinar's is.
  18. Yeah, I'm kind of worried about looking like a weirdo groupie, especially since I'm going to be helping with the WoR scrapbook. And worse yet, I'm a highschooler. It'll be all sorts of socially strange, but (hopefully) fun.
  19. Whadya mean, Jasnah dying? Noeesssss! But in accordance with the topic, I definitely believe that Sazed's reaction was definitely relatable and plausible, but only if you do not look at it in a vacuum. Throughout the book, nothing happens other than build him up. He triumphs over everything, gets the girl, beats down Marsh. Then Twyndl dies, Dockson bids adieu, and Luthadel is all but destroyed. He learns that a dark, malicious "god" (A Satanic devil like being, if you will) that is in none of his religions, has been released upon the world. It's his fault, and Sazed has failed. If I learned that somehow, I had orchestrated the release of the devil upon the world, and I could literally see it fall into hell around me, my faith would be shattered at least, if not down right incinerated. I think the fact that Sazed was able to hold on for as long as he did only further validates the strength of his character. My two cents.
  20. I've met him once, at a Steelheart signing, but I'm going to see him again on Thursday. So excited, especially because the Steelheart was before I had become actively a Sharder. I had done my own share of Cosmere theorizing, and had lurked about a bunch, but I was still unSpiked and uninitiated.
  21. White Sand world. I know a bit (I've read it), but still, no other world offers as much room for exploration.
  22. I've read them all so many times, I can read them really really fast. Also, anticipationspren for WoR. 'Nuff said. This week I don't have much homework, so I should be good.
  23. Bartson is the rival tavern owner, keeping a friendly competition with his presumed neighbor, Dyring. I'd love to play, but once again, if space is an issue, I'm fine with letting someone else go this round. (Hey Meta, what would I have to do to be the next GM? I'm a little jealous of Ping ).
  24. Be warned: this challenge is not for the faint of heart. Seventeenth Sharders, welcome to my humble abode of challenge and book loving. I find that this is the eve of the last week before we are blessed with the release of Words of Radiance. Indeed, I must say that the warm fire of Brandonium burns comfortably in my stomach, Heightening my anticipation. However, this challenge, as I said, is not for the faint of heart; it goes beyond Skimming, involving fully Reoding the complete works of Brandon Sanderson's cosmere, in order to reAwaken our knowledge of his universe. I want to Lash out at the people who have already read it, and my impatience will make me snap. Fear not, for I have a plan. Every day, I intend on reading at least one of his books (Alloy of Law and Emperor's Soul are put on the same day). Then, on Tuesday, I will finish by devouring Words of Radiance. Here is my schedule, for those of you who are brave enough to join me: Tuesday: Mistborn, the Final Empire. Wednesday: Mistborn, the Well of Ascension Thursday: Mistborn, the Hero of Ages Friday: Alloy of Law, Emperor's Soul Saturday: Elantris Sunday: Warbreaker And finally: Monday: The Way of Kings. As I go through this Olympian endeavor, I will post my thoughts about the challenge and the books themselves. I encourage you all: Join me! Happy Reading, Sharders.
