So quick to avoid blame... Interesting. Very interesting.

Ham would be the best. I could have philosophical discussions with him for hours and hours on end, and he's such a nice guy. And I'll have to jump on the "Lin Davar would be the worst dad ever" bandwagon.

This. And not to be that guy, but there are actually typographical errors in the descriptions of both the Rithmatist and the Alcatraz subfora.

Long Game 6: Daes Dae'Mar, The Great Game
GreyPilgrim replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm really excited for this game to start! It looks to be one of the most fun models we've seen yet. I will definitely be hard for the Villagers, which isn't a bad thing. I promise to not totally ignore this game like I may or may not have the Quick Fix Game... Happy birthday Awesomeness, by the way! Missed it.- 503 replies

GreyPilgrim replied to Argent's topic in Creator's Corner
That is amazing. I have been avoiding Reddit like the plague, but with the things Argent has been posting from it, I may have to give in. -
I like it. Much easier to navigate the Non-Cosmere works, and the changes give them more of the credit they deserve. Also, since I'm betting we will begin to see more and more Cosmere Short Stories, it is good to give them their own section on the front page. Just out of curiosity, will the White Sand graphic novels get their own full board when they come out?

Long Game 6: Daes Dae'Mar, The Great Game
GreyPilgrim replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Grimlar was worried. There was a definite air of anticipation wreathing its way through Drell's Crossing. Mayor Cabalen's town meeting was expected today, and it was clear that no one was quite ready for what awaited them. Grimlar was worried that staying in the town would prove a death sentence. He had been considering making a run for it before this meeting. But that was what everyone suspected of him, he supposed. Of course the drunk would flee before the fight. How could one as despicable as he have the honor to stay and fight the Trollocs? Light, but he would show them, if it were the last thing he did. He was not happy with who he was. Staying to defend and protect was in many ways Grimlar's last chance for redemption. As he strode through the town, all eyes cast down upon him, judging him, hating him, Grimlar made a decision. No drink for the entirety of this nightmare. It would only cloud his mind more than it already was. He would have to donate his precious stores of ale to Gade, the innkeeper. That way, he wouldn't be tempted. No drink... At least, starting tomorrow. He begged to the Creator this would be easier than he thought it would be. So will the game definitely be starting tonight at 8 PM EDT, or are we going to wait for the one final player if he/she doesn't pop up before then?- 503 replies

Definitely one of the best YA series of recent years. The earlier ones (first 3) are definitely better, but the last one is excellent as well. It got a little hard to believe that all that character development could occur over the course of a week, but it was still very enjoyable. I am currently reading Reaper's Gale (Malazan 7), having finished Red Seas Under Red Skies several weeks ago. It is quite good so far.

Fun idea, though I feel like this should be RP'ed if one so wishes, but not part of the rules.- 503 replies

I personally don't think that there is too much of an issue with this thread as it is. I was merely posting an alternate option for those who did believe there to be an issue. As time goes on, and people want to go back through previous ideas when thinking about making a game or using one they had posted here before, it might be nice to have a filing system, but it is by no means required. I agree that editing previous posts if one wishes it to he listed would certainly be a good way to go about this.
-
An idea to make this thread easier to navigate: Meta can create a sort of table of contents linking to each individual game model that is posted for discussion in this thread. That way, to get to whichever one you want, you need only go to the first post and click a link. Simple, and it won't create the clutter of an additional subforum. Yes, it may be more difficult for Meta to have to keep track of every time someone posts a new idea, but the other mods could edit the list as well, could they not?

Long Game 6: Daes Dae'Mar, The Great Game
GreyPilgrim replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Grimlar saw Jim Bob Dirt stationed on the side of the street, trying (and failing) as usual to sell some dirt. Grimlar felt bad for the strange man. You know what, I'll buy some dirt from him, he thought. He made his way over to the edge of the street. "How much for one bag?" he asked gruffly. Jim looked stunned. "Err... One silver mark, I guess." Clearly, the man had never sold a bag in his life. Grimlar went digging in his pocket, and managed to find a mark among the trash in his pocket. Was that an apple core? Handing the mark to Jim, he grabbed a hefty bag of dirt, which he promptly slung over his shoulder. Jim had a look of wonder oh his fact as he studied the coin. See, I can do good deeds once in a while. Grimlar deposited the bag next to the nearest building he could find. Take that, Joe!- 503 replies

I kind of agree. I liked the relative simplicity of Tempus's Quick Fix game. Something like that, with maybe a couple more roles, would be more ideal for a Quick Fix, IMHO. Not to rain on anyone's parade, or course. The models being thrown out all look fun nonetheless.

Welcome shortycake! If I could date anyone in the cosmere it would be Marasi, my biggest cosmere crush. Best comic strip ever!

Long Game 6: Daes Dae'Mar, The Great Game
GreyPilgrim replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Grimlar al'Pil stepped out into the fresh morning air of Drell's Crossing. His home for all his life, he loved this place like no other. He had once taken a trip to Illian, land of his ancestors, but had not found the country satisfying. Born and raised in Drell's Crossing, he couldn't imagine living anywhere else. As he walked through the streets, people's eyes stuck to him for the briefest of moments, a little longer than they would anyone else. Despite being the town drunk, the residents of Drell's Crossing were fond of Grimlar. At least, so he thought. Hoped. Wished... But he was happy as he was. Everyone dealt with the world in different ways. It was just that his way occasionally ended up with him vomiting in the streets. He was an honest man, with an honest job. Keeping stock of the liquor and tabac for merchants to buy as they passed through was important. If only he didn't smoke and drink it all the time. But no. Beneath all of his personal problems, Grimlar was a good man. He knew it. Whether other people saw it was another issue entirely. Stroking his Illianer mustache, he made his way to the center of town, where a commotion seemed to have picked up.- 503 replies

What has even happened to this thread? I take a semi forum hiatus for a couple weeks and I miss about 500 posts? I have failed M'Lady, and am torn in my allegiances. Do I follow the Lady, or do I follow my older leader, Him of Chaos?

"The lions sing and the hills take flight. The moon by day and the sun by night. Blind woman, deaf man, jackdaw fool. Let the Lords of Chaos rule." Someone had to do it.

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
GreyPilgrim replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Greyeh didn't know how she had ended up here, slumped at the end of an alley, searching desperately for breath, the bodies of two men lying motionless next to her. The events of the last day had all blurred into one. Running desperately from her pursuers, fighting occasionally, running more... Until she had ended up here, all alone. She tried not to think of the atrocities she had committed since the riots had begun. Doing so would help nothing. Yet she found the more she avoided them, the more they haunted her. Visions of corpses, of blood and gore and swords and knives and spears... But none of these visions plagued her mind as much as those of her family. Greyeh could still see the five men and women as they broke the door down, could remember watching her husband as he launched himself toward them with only a dagger as she huddled in the corner with their two children. She could remember the screams of the two men her husband had killed. And above theirs, she still in every moment heard his scream, and with it felt her heart ripped out of her body. The feeling had not left her yet. She could remember Karn's voice as he in his little, squeaky voice had whispered into her ear, "Daddy's gonna get 'em, right Mama?" Greyeh recalled the feeling as the tears left her eyes, the drops falling on her and her children, their own personal highstorm. She still felt the tears dig into her skin, setting it alight, the deepest wounds she had ever experienced. The remaining man and two women had come into the corner, and Greyeh had clawed desperately at Karn as he wrenched himself away from her, playing the hero as their assailants cut him down without a second thought. She could see as his head rolled toward her, blood everywhere. She remembered standing up to make a run for it, being slashed in the arm, causing her to drop her baby, her head jerking as it impacted the ground and as the last man stomped on it. Greyeh had screamed, the sound tearing at her throat. She had made her way around the remaining assailants, to her husband's body, had grabbed his dagger, and had launched herself back at the killers, and had worked through them. Greyeh had lived that event every moment since it had occurred days ago. Her life since then had consisted almost entirely of those two minutes. She could let it hold her down no more. Stretching, she stood up and made her way out of the alley, in search of somewhere possibly safe. Sorry, that was a bit brutal. I didn't intend it to go that direction, but hey, let the characters drive the narrative. I've been pretty busy the last couple days, but I will do me best to be more active from here on out.- 384 replies

I must say, good game everyone, and also thanks to Maill for putting it together. I think this model has the potential to be a fun one to play many times without feeling repetitive. The fact that almost everyone had at least one item made it difficult but fun to puzzle through everyone's actions, and I think it worked out very well in the end. Very well done to the Ghostbloods, even though it didn't all work out in the end. Hiding your spanreed was genius, and did a good job of preventing suspicion from falling on you. I must say, having a spanreed became kind of a death sentence after we decided that one of the Ghostbloods must have a spanreed. The limiting of PMs was overall a cool part of the game, forcing us to work in the main thread a bit more than usual.

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
GreyPilgrim replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Stepping around of the corner of the street, Greyeh heaved a sigh of relief. There was no one waiting to jump out at her. These riots were terrifying. Groups forming here and there, growing, running, storming buildings, only to fall apart, the members moving on to something else... All for what? The crem filled the streets, left by the highstorm only to be thrown around by the feet of the rioters. Greyeh glanced down at her own feet. They were covered in their own thin layer of the clay-like substance, now beginning to dry. She heard a shuffle behind her. Glancing around, she found it was only an ardent, the man looking like he had had a rough go of it. Part of her wanted to help him, but she had to hold to her self-imposed rule: Stick to herself, drag herself through this mess alone. A quick glance at her hand revealed that her safe hand glove had been ripped. Despite having been raised to keep it covered, she decided that the glove was useless now. It would soon fall of. Steeling herself, she ripped the glove off and threw it to the ground. It landed in the crem with not a sound, yet Greyeh felt its landing like a blow to the chest. Despite not caring for it too much, Greyeh had never been out in public before without her safehand covered. She felt oddly vulnerable now. But no, she would be strong. She came to another turn, but before making it, she looked back at that glove, bright blue in the dull crem, sinking in and being obscured. A symbol of her old life. Greyeh had lost it all in these riots. Her family, her home. Her place in the world, left behind in the crem, obscured just like that glove. Turning the corner, Greyeh unsheathed her knife and began to run. The day was yet young.- 384 replies

Obviously, to get rid of them, use Nightblood to suck all of their Black Investiture away.

I agree that this would be a pretty good idea. Those things are really annoying, and tend to pop up between about 3 AM to 6 AM EDT (my time), when most of the mods are not active. I second this idea, though of course if the admins don't want to add more mods now there's no reason to do it.
