  1. @Kad, Ah, so that's where you are going with that. Don't worry, I won't tell Perhaps the biggest problem with the theory to start with appeared to be the lack of any spren equivalent for the cognitive aspect. Kadrok's idea of the "fabrials" being haemalurgic spikes can fix this. As haemalurgic spikes can take part of someone's cognitive aspect as well as the part of their sDNA. So the people who were killed to make the spikes would take the place of the spren in Rosharian fabrials.
  2. I would guess that it varies, that some methods can bring others while some methods only allow you to hop yourself. Admittedly this is pretty baseless speculation but I think it would make sense
  3. Good point. Silly of me to forget about that But with that in mind I simply cannot see all (200ish?) bindpoints on a Scadrian human being universal to all people and creatures throughout the cosmere.
  4. It is entirely possible that I could be wrong. To tell for sure we would need to know notably more about things like: -What some more of the bindpoints actually are, do they all pierce specific vital organs that all people (and other spikable creatures) in the cosmere have? -We had confirmation a while back that you could grant abilities to animals through Haemalurgy, so it stands to reason that you could steal some. I don't think every animal in the cosmere has all the same bindpoints as, say, a Scadrian human. -Parshendi as an example. I expect they are eminently spikable just like everyone else, however I also think they have some very different physiology to your average human, so bindpoints may vary. Actually, 'humans' is a bit of a weird/in-specific term in the cosmere. I should have used 'people' in my last post.
  5. I concur with Kadrok and with Gloom here. I suspect that all of the current magic systems *could* have existed pre-shattering, but I also think that most or all of the single-shard based systems (allomancy/surgebinding etc) did not. I think Adonalsium was capable of creating them but would have had to specifically decide to do so. (If he had created them they would have had different focus's due to being on Yolen rather than their respective planets, buts that's a whole different can of worms.) (I too support the Yolen DNA theory It makes a lot of sense.)
  6. Just a point. I agree that the existence of bindpoints is universal to all humans. But I think that some specific bindpoints would vary between the different races as some of them have noticeably different physiology. I expect some bindpoints are universal, the heart for instance, but that there are some that are more race specific.
  7. I was just wondering if there were any other x-com eu players on the forums. I enjoy the multiplayer side of things as well as the single player but it can be hard to find a match. I have pc and 360 versions if there is anyone else who likes the mp who wants a game
  8. OOh I know. I just need to start compounding duralumin and constantly tap large amounts! Giving and gaining rep everywhere! (Um, just to check...would that count as cheating? ) Slightly more seriously, the fastest way to get rep is by far going to signings and posting q&a's... Australia *sigh* guess I'll stick with trying to make awesome stuff
  9. For the record I am actually of the opinion that it is most likely metal spikes cosmere wide. I was merely pointing out that that particular quote did not explicitly imply that it would always be a spike.
  10. Fair enough. We normally shorten it to alfoil so don't use the term tinfoil for it. Hence why to me tinfoil means literal tinfoil =)
  11. True, the wording does lend itself slightly towards actual metal spikes. It's just a non-definite. (Incidentally I will freely admit that your previous post modified my views a little. The point on the narrative complications was a good one.) Always nice when that happens
  12. One of the minor bonuses of running non-canon role-playing games. If you think they should be together? Put them together
  13. Dalinar did say he was going to give his own to him. So I think that's relatively certain, Dalinar doesn't back down on his word =)
  14. Regarding point 3b, Brandon did not use the word spike in that quote and there was some hesitance to th phrasing of his answer. Just saying I wouldn't take that for evidence of whether it would use a physical spike on other words. Now to clarify my viewpoint: I think it is most likely that a Scadrian allomancer on Roshar would still burn metals. But I am sitting squarely on the fence as to whether an allomancer born on Roshar, with both Rosharan and Scadrian heritage, would use metal or not. Should a piece of Preservations power somehow become invested in Roshar however, and someone gain allomancy through that. Then I strongly suspect they would use stormlight.
  15. *clears throat* here we are... [Hero of ages chapter 81 page 704 in the paperback I have] There's another quote earlier on, I'll edit it in when I find it. Edit: Found it! [Hero of ages chapter 80 page 686 in the paperback I have]
  16. Your idea is a possibility Kad, but it's too uncertain for me to back it. For everyone's information, Demoux's girlfriend was called Aslydin. I was one of the people who had theorized that she was a worldhopper beforehand and felt a degree of satisfaction at the news of their being a terriswoman worldhopper. Personally, though without much evidence, I had stuck with the theory that she was the one who introduced Demoux to worldhopping rather than the other way around as mentioned earlier in this thread =)
  17. Personally I think that is likely the case. That or that an allomancer born on scadrial would use metals but a Rosharian allomancer would use stormlight in some manner. Regardless, given how haemalurgy is more universal and doesn't require investiture from ruin, it could well be an exception to this. Although I get the feeling that Atium might well work on other planets even if normal metals did not. Just a quick clarification on that. I doubt that there had been mining towns in those places for a thousand years. Although we have no hard facts on this, from what TLR had written on the plates in the storage caverns I strongly suspect that they had been put there some time in the last couple of centuries of his reign.
  18. Using it just for that you can get the same bullet dodgy use as you can just with Bendalloy, as Wayne does in alloy of law. The big difference is the ven diagram usage, allowing you to slow down other near you without slowing yourself. In case someone hasn't read the alloy of law yet but is still reading this topic.
  19. ...That's what you got out of my post. For the record, I am bi-lingual: English, (read steel alphabet, totally counts), Java, C#, C++ ....
  20. What are you hoping it would do? Stop him from speaking into your mind (assuming you had a spike)? I doubt a tinfoil hat would do anything more than make your head glow a bit in his vision An aluminum hat on the other hand...that may have potential, similarly to blocking emotional allomancy. (I personally think that alluminium blocks any form of allomancy, but this is far from confirmed.)
  21. A friend told me a lot about how good mistborn was. So a bit later I got the trilogy from my birthday. I loved it, especially the final empire, but at the time I didn't really look at his other books. Some time later I read most of his other stuff and learned about the cosmere, thought it was cool, but I just didn't have time to really get into it. Finally when I found out about the MAG mid last year I really got invested in it all. Joined the crafty forums, started a 4-crew campaign. Then around July I got involved in steelministry.com running and playing there and finally stopped ghosting here and created an account =) No regrets since then. *Feels slightly embarrassed about how long it took me to really get involved with most people talking about how they were hooked instantly.*
  22. Thanks for uploading these. The WoR reading was particularly interesting. On a side note I find it entertaining that thanks to this thread your rep level is higher than your post count
  23. Yeah, would be rather tricky to remember them all. Here's the ones that I have copies of that I know where are: I've put slightly more than the last line in a couple of cases because they work much better that way. The Final Empire; The Hero of Ages Warbreaker The Way of Kings Steelheart
  24. Awww dang That sounded cool. Welcome to the forums Goatborn!
  25. Good job Argent. Definitely non-combat knights. He didn't say anything about non-combat orders.
