  1. @Shardlet/Weiry it is possible that that was MAG only. I thought that point was in general canon though I could be incorrect. However, if it is correct that still fits perfectly with haemalurgy being end-negative as the spike can still only take one power or attribute. The result is already end-negative before the power in the spike decays at all so I don't think that's at all conclusive evidence for atium spikes decaying.
  2. Using electrum effectively like that would be hard. But definately achievable to some degree with a lot of practice, and if you had Feruchemical zinc.......I still consider that almost on par with atium, not *quite* as powerful but much much cheaper.
  3. A couple of points. Atium spikes don't decay, so the power levels would be the same. The spikes are a potential weakness though. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe there are over 200 bind points on the human body and the spikes don't have to be anywhere near as large as the inquisitors. So they could certainly have all combat useful spikes and really, enough spikes to have every power at an equal to degree to the fullborn. Fairly certain they could actually have them enhanced beyond that actually =)
  4. I hope so. I certainly don't want to trade my awesome mistborn powers for a silly shardblade. Disclaimer: shardblades are cool, mistborn are just much cooler
  5. Honestly I had just been thinking that entering the cognitive realm required some shard power, or at least some power in general (given there is magic that wasn't part of Adonalsium). By that, people on any minor world which didn't have a shard wouldn't be able to worldhop.

    Hey!

I get the feeling that stormlight archive as a whole may surpass the mistborn series as a whole. But I also feel that for me the final empire might stay my favourite Brandon book for a long long time. =)
  7. Honestly I thought there was a *soft* limit a bit before that though I could have been mistaken. Not trying to use the MAG as a reference here.*I really need to reread alloy of law*. I get the feeling that storing nearly 100% identity could have severe lasting mental consequences at any rate.
  8. 10% Is an arbitrary quantity true. But the amount you can store isn't *that* much closer to 100% for some metals. I cannot see storing over 90% of strength or health ending well for the feruchemist.

    Hey!

Mistborn. I love most of his work, but definitely mistborn. (It was my first too.)

    Hey!

Welcome to the forums! I still have my original copy of the final empire, but its had to go through multiple repairs =) It's just been loved too much. Was mistborn the first of his work you read?
  11. That it does. Thing is, you can only store 90% of any attribute normally and is 10% of an identity little enough to allow others to tap any other metalminds you make during that time? I think there's an extra step needed here though I'm not sure what it is.
  12. I know I'm not the only one who thinks it is Aslydin. She and Demoux were together at the end of well of ascension and as they both survived and Demoux is a worldhopper its been theorized that she is a member of the 17th shard as well. Possibly was a member before as well though that is pure speculation. This quote is the first real evidence we have had for the theory =)
  13. Thankyou Satsuoni. That answered the basic question and just made things more interesting.
  14. XD....wait. If someone has allomancy or feruchemy through haemalurgy do those genes get passed down to their descendants the same as someone who had them naturally? (Because that could be very very interesting to know.)
  15. I would say that at the least he saw versions of himself on both sides of the law and I would hazard a guess that what he saw had a big impact on his decision to go rogue. Hard to tell exactly what he saw as we still only know a part of his motivations :/ I'm pretty certain he wasn't a savant though. He burns gold at one point in the book in a chapter from his perspective and it is strongly implied in that chapter that he burns gold somewhat frequently perhaps, but nowhere near often enough for it to cause the physiological changes that come with being a savant. I think he tended to burn relatively large metalminds to compound a lot at once rather than burning a lot of the time.
  16. Given that we know that Kelsier is aware of Hoid and doesn't like him. I would venture that Sazed knows Hoid at least equally well. How well they get along is a more interesting question
  17. Yay! My first RAFO I think I'll keep with the theory of inquisitors not being able to see pure aluminium for now. They could probably see it if it had any impurities though.
  18. Ooh. I'll buy =) In Nightblood:
  19. For the fun of it (and for the purpose of actually doing something with the font), I've transcribed the message that the lord Ruler left in the final storage cavern into the steel alphabet and put it on a metallic background. (I wasn't able to upload it here, possibly due to file size or something, it is fairly large, so I've posted it at the same spot as the font: http://steelministry.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=501&p=7542#p7542)
  20. It could have been more to do with piercing different parts of the heart. But it could be something I dreamt altogether (I can't even think what to search to try to find it if a quote related to that *does* exist.)
  21. That has bugged me too. I think there might have been some mention somewhere that haemalurgy was more precise than just "through the heart" and that the actual angle the spike was driven in affected the outcome and/or whether it was successful. (I could be wrong on this.)
  22. I've been assuming that spook wrote it. It doesn't feel like Marsh to me but the style of the writing feels a bit like Spook's chapters from HoA. More on topic. The thing that bugs me about Haemalurgy's transferablness is the use of metal. Metals important on scadrial as the focus for the planet and I know we don't know much regarding foci yet but metal still being used for haemalurgy on other shard worlds feels weird. But then I imagine spiking someone with a gemstone on Roshar and that makes less sense, or at least "spiking" someone with a symbol on Sel makes less sense. It just doesn't seem to fit well with current focus theory.
  23. Nobody is denying that. I think we all already know that The point of the thread was just to have fun pointing out his more villainous features.
  24. Why not: Exhibit F: Wanton slaughter of nobles and any who serve them. (Slaughtering anyone/everyone who represents what you oppose *is* a fairly villainous thing to do )
  25. I've made a font for the steel alphabet as it was in the final empire period (because I think they look the best ). The letter assignments are based on our best knowledge of what they are. However it is possible that one or two symbols could be incorrect. If we do discover that I'll adjust it. You can find the names of the metals on Isaac's site here: http://www.isaacstewart.com/mistborn-series/ The website is being somewhat painful and not letting me upload any more attachments. So I have uploaded it at steelministry.com here http://steelministry.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=501 There's an example of the font in action and a key there as well as the main zip file. The zip file contains: -The font file -A readme with installation instructions and a bit about the steel alphabet/how it differs from english -A key showing the symbols to the letters (modified from the mistborn 1 key on Isaac's site). -A pdf of the shadows of self reading, converted into steel alphabet with all appropriate changes. A couple of things to note about the steel alphabet: -All double characters are represented with a single character (including things like "ie" and "ou") -The numbers 0-9 are included in the font using the numbering from the chapter headers. If you find any problems, or have any thoughts or comments please let me know =) Edit: the website has now decided that I *can* upload images and pdf's so here's the transcribed reading, key and quick sample image. I still cannot upload the font file or a compressed folder with it :/ shadows of self reading in steel alphabet.pdf Edit2: If any mods/admins have an idea how to fix the uploading problem I'll upload it here
