"Long live the king." (Uses an obscure rule to give someone else kingship.) "I can forgive you .. but my kingdom cannot." (Kills his best friend, Jastes in cold blood.)

Vin &Elend vs. Legolas & Gimli
aeromancer replied to Titan Arum's topic in General Brandon Discussion
This was written in the venue of the Stormlight Archive parody on the respective board. LEGOLAS AND GIMLI VS VIN AND ELEND VENTURE (The ONLY plausible explanation) (The scene is set. Neither side has been informed of the other’s power. Considering this, the metal clad medieval fantasy duo are at a clear disadvantage.) SUVUDU: Except we stripped the Mistborn of their vials! Oh yeah! (Wait. That’s not fair.) SUVUDU: Oh, and metal manipulation is? (I’m not the idiot who set up the matchup. Besides, if you aren’t going to give them vials, at least give them armor. Good quality iron and steel armor.) SUVUDU: Oh, because I’m an idiot! They’ll just eat their armor and win! (I will quote you on that. “They’ll just eat their armor and win.”) SUVUDU: Fine, they can have metal vials. (Ahem.) (The Mistborn are armed with vials of metal and glass daggers as well, so the metal clad medieval fantasy duo are at a clear disadvantage.) SUVUDU: FIGHT! (LEGOLAS immediately draws, nocks, aims, and fire in under a heartbeat. Or, more correctly, one-tenth of the amount of time it takes for ELEND to swallow a vial of metals.) ELEND: AUGH! (LEGOLAS shoots him three more times. Then VIN starts deflecting his arrows.) VIN: YOU MONSTERS! (VIN lets out a massive STEELPUSH, blasting LEGOLAS and GIMLI across the arena. She hastily force feeds ELEND a vial. VIN burns BRONZE, and is relieved to hear him burning PEWTER. ELEND is alive. For now.) VIN: I am Empress Vin Venture, Heir to the Survivor and Hero of Ages- SAZED: Ahem, Mistress. VIN: Former Hero of Ages, and a MISTBORN! You don’t stand a chance! (LEGOLAS has realized that she pushed the metal on him, and drops his quiver, and slices off all his metal buckles with his knives. Depending on how he dressed that morning, this either has no effect on his look, or this fight has degenerated into fan service. GIMLI is in full armor.) DUNGEON MASTER: Sure you can take that full-plate armor off. It’ll take … let’s see … yeah, around 100 rounds of combat for you to doff it. Plus one more round for the shield. (VIN makes a DURALUMIN-fueled STEELPUSH ranged spell attack against GIMLI. VIN rolls a natural 20.) (GIMLI is now two-dimensional art adorning the walls of the arena.) LEGOLAS: (something in Elvish which sounds insulting and/or a curse) VIN: COME HERE AND SAY THAT TO MY FACE! (LEGOLAS complies. VIN burns PEWTER, TIN, and COPPER for GOOD LUCK and tries to punch him in the face. LEGOLAS dodges.) VIN: Dodge this! (VIN flares IRON, pulling LEGOLAS’s arrows towards them. LEGOLAS’s ELF EARS hear the whistle the arrows make in midair, and he expertly dodges all of them.) VIN (jaw drop): You on atium? LEGOLAS: What? That’s perfectly normal for an elf! (VIN reaches for her COIN POUCH. It’s not there.) SUVUDU: Heh, heh. (Ahem. SUVUDU dies horrifically. VIN reaches for her COIN POUCH, and uses a coin to LAUNCH herself in the air. LEGOLAS, mainly because he’s not BLIND, kicks the coin, and she falls to the ground.) VIN: Think you’re clever? (VIN raises her hand, and IRONPULLS the arrows towards her. She then STEELPUSHES them into the ground, embedding them. VIN launches herself on them.) VIN: NOW WHAT, POINTY EARS? (VIN raises her hand, and sends a STREAM OF COINS flying at LEGOLAS.) LEGOLAS: I will protect those who cannot protect themselves! (LEGOLAS flat-out RUNS UP the STREAM OF COINS, while blowing a RASPBERRY at PHYSICS) KALADIN (jaw drop): He just stole Sylphrena from me! I knew the lighteyes would! I knew it! (An ORC shows up, and KILLS Kaladin. This is UNCALLED FOR, so it will be RETCONNED.) (Meanwhile, LEGOLAS flips over VIN in midair and starts flying around her, COMPLETELY IGNORING PHYSICS. A SINGLE BLACK WING sprouts from his back.) CHORUS (One-Winged Angel): SEPHIROTH! SEPHIROTH! VIN (realization): That’s why you both look like girls! LEGOLAS/SEPHIROTH: THAT’S NOT TRUE! TELL ME WHAT YOU CHERISH MOST SO I CAN TAKE IT AWAY! VIN: DO YOU ACTUALLY THINK YOU CAN DEFEAT ME?! (VIN burns ATIUM. A short scene of GRAPHIC VIOLENCE later, LEGOLAS/SEPHIROTH is DEAD. Suddenly a PHOENIX DOWN falls on HIM/IT.) LEGOLAS/SEPHIROTH (resurrected): YOU’VE MADE ONE OF THE CLASSIC BLUNDERS! THE MOST FAMOUS IS TO AVOID BEING WRITTEN BY GEORGE R. R. MARTIN, BUT ONLY SLIGHTLY LESS IS NEVER BE WRITTEN BY BRANDON SANDERSON! YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO OBEY RULES! UNLIKE THE REST OF US! MWAHAHAHAHA! (LEGOLAS/SEPHIROTH summons the TWO-STORY MASAMUNE from literally NOWHERE and LIMIT BREAKS into OCTOSLASH! VIN takes 9999 damage. Eight times. VIN dies.) SUVUDU: END! Final Tally: KALADIN: -1 GIMLI: 0 ELEND: 0 VIN: 1 LEGOLAS/SEPHIROTH: 2 THE LAWS OF PHYSICS: NEGATIVE INFINITY- 16 replies

Request to submit on April 11th. I'd like to submit two chapters of a work I've been thinking about expanding. EDIT: I noticed this received an upvote. Thank you, I guess.

Sherlock Holmes and the Dancing Men?

The Code Book. Okay, it's not actually a novel, but there is the 10k$ Code Challenge at the end of it (which has already been won).

Sorry Voidus, but ... yeah. He lost. Also the writers are ignoring the fact that Jair can turn into Jax using wishsong. So, therefore I (reluctantly) agree with Landis963. This isn't a true fan competition. This is a joke. Any one of us could one better write ups than this.

Force = mass x acceleration. Steel is not that useful for an unarmed Sazed in a fistfight, more then either strength or iron for that matter. Also, superfast mortal fist = broken bones, something that Sazed bashing people with books using pewter doesn't worry about. I'd rather pewter in a fight over steel, actually.

This is very well written, but I think I have a moral issue with what happens in the end. If you're going to have a Hell, then shouldn't pre-marital relations be a taboo, or at least something to try to avoid? Every religion that I know of (which has a Hell) would agree with this. Excellent aside from that though.

Quick question: What's the general consensus of killing off main characters? In other words (to be more specific) I have a character that Heroically Sacrificed. Now, I set up a system to resurrect this character, but (because of unexpected character development) this character has gone from "vital to resurrect" to "Hmm..." In case you are wondering, I've already got two hero corpses and two villain corpses.

Venting about what happened to Sabriel & Mogget. Already done. Venting about what happened to Garet Jax! Do people realized how good Garet Jax is? He killed a monster which literally was magically created to be impossible to kill out of his sheer awesomeness. If he fought a four on one shardfight, he'd need to disarm himself to make the fight fair. Are you kidding me? You have him losing swordfights? Evidently someone doesn't know Shannara. Venting about the Gimli Legolas / Vin Elend write up. How does Elend stay back when his wife is about to get axed? And why does Vin get involved in a pushing contest with his ax, when she could easily dodge the blade and Steelpush his helm! (Also, only Zane can vary push and pull to that degree. It's like they haven't read the book). Done venting. For now.

The following you about to read is true. This is a theory I came up with three years back on the actual power of Lerasium, using logic and conjecture. Remember in the end of WoA when Preservation (in Mist Spirit Mode [MSM]) mortally wounded Elend in an effort to get Vin to take the power of the Well of Ascension for herself? Theory #1: Preservation knew that in the event Vin gave up the power of the Well of Ages, she would give Elend the Lerasium Preservation can see the future, so this is still in the realm of possibility. Which may seem insignificant by itself, That is why I have theory two, which makes sense given Preservation's desire to preserve, and Elend's "innate goodness" Theory #2: Under no circumstances (save ones with world changing consequences) would Preservation want Elend to die Which, again is also not that important. But now we bring in the facts: Fact #1: Elend was mortally wounded by the Mist Spirit Therefore, Preservation only mortally wounded Elend because he knew that Elend would survive, and Elend would imbibe Lerasium. Theory #3: When burning Lerasium, by default one triggers the intended purpose, as one will become a Mistborn by burning the smallest amount, so the rest of the burn must have the actual power of Lerasium used. Therefore: Theory #4: Lerasium allows one to survive Near Death Experiences. And it makes sense! Preservation's power preserves you! ...And it's all so very wrong. Even the fact is wrong. Well, that's one Lerasium theory down the drain. Moral of the story - never never never assume anything about Kelsier.

Just pointing out that the swear filter does not apply to email updates if you follow a topic. Admins, you may wish to take note of that. Also, the fact that people want to able to apply a filter to their profanity instead of simply typing "sparks" bothers me for some odd reason I can't quite put my finger on. You dagblats.

If you read Mistborn Secret Histories, some of your questions might be answered... Hoid doesn't have anywhere near that kind of power, though. He can only see where he needs to be. Nor does he care that Sazed takes the power of the Well. EDiT: Wait, 1024 years? As in, 2^10 years?

Call to action? That's my go to, although I do need to figure out something else. Slaughtering a village of faceless villagers will both motivate the heroes and demonstrate how evil the villain is. Or,make a pet go missing, or a disappearance. Essentially, start a large quest with a smaller quest.

He gets gassed and sent into deep space by Mr. Fantastic, and his ships then gets towed into a naked singularity, transporting him to an alternate dimension where he conquers the world and launches all out war against Earth and... Wait. The movies? Not Planet Hulk and World War Hulk? Oh, um ... he's hiding? Thor ... yeah, well is the comics there was Ragnarok going on (times two!), but considering that Ragnarok (the movie) looks like it will be based off of Fear Itself ... It hurts to be a comic book fan now.

I just recently joined, and I'm finishing up a story I'm working on now. I am not going to be submitting it for a while though, because I'm going to do a round of edits after waiting thirty days. That said, I do write short stories occasionally, so keep an eye out. Personally, I'm an avid sci-fi reader. My picture profile is not a picture of me, it's of Kane from C&C. I enjoy discussing needlessly complex topics, especially if it's a discussion of pure logic. Looking forward to be a part of this!

"History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it." - Winston Churchill (Also, anything Kane says.) And as long as I'm making video game references: "Kane lives!" - Kane "Princess, I do hope you haven't forgotten my role in this story. I'm the leading man." - Balthier, FFXXII "So what if it looks hopeless?" - Zack Fair, Advent Children "Hope will never die!" - Lucina, FE:A "Yah!" - Link, Legend of Zelda And for my favorite quotable video game character: "Honor can be quite a burden at times." "Embrace your dreams and protect your honor." "You're a little more important than my sword ... but just a little." "No story is not worth hearing."

I support the Brotherhood, of course. No, not the Brotherhood of Mutants! The Brotherhood of Nod! ... You don't know what that is either? *sigh* All kidding aside, in retrospect I will support Iron Man, for now I support Cap. Why will I support Iron Man in retrospect? Because I read the comics, that's why. Rest assured, without going into spoilers that can be easily found on the Marvel wiki, there's a lot more than just the Superhuman Registration Act going on. I don't know how the movie will handle that though.

A true author? A true author can take ideas and concept which are not his, combine then and retell them so that they are his.

Wayne Disapproval Thread (Potential Wayne-related spoilers)
aeromancer replied to aeromancer's topic in Mistborn
You are a failure, you do realize that, right? "He's funny" is in the same quotes as "ooh shiny". I am mocking Wayne for his attention deficit - hey! donuts! If you're going to mock me mocking Wayne, at least have the decency to do it properly. In case you haven't realized, while you may have named yourself after Wayne, my picture is KANE. As in Brotherhood of Nod Kane. You want to destroy the insurgents? Heh. Peace. Through. Power. Release the REDEEMER! (http://cnc.wikia.com/wiki/Redeemer) EDIT: That's ... weird. I thought I accidentally double posted, but it looks like I didn't. -

Still doesn't make it right. I do not believe that the ends justify the means. -
Wayne Disapproval Thread (Potential Wayne-related spoilers)
aeromancer replied to aeromancer's topic in Mistborn
*sigh* The pair of you. Do you not get what this thread is? I am not hating on Wayne. That is not what I'm doing, this is the Wayne Disapproval Thread, not the Wayne Hatred Thread. I have no objective problem with Wayne as a character - if he was the antagonist or the recurring gag character. @ Mr. Staccato: I respect all opinions and will never down vote someone for a frank expression of opinion, but as a tree themed professor once said, there's a time and place for everything. While I do respect opinions, saying that "Wayne will be Wayne"... ... Yeah that's the very reason I disapprove of him. I'll have to agree to disagree with you. -
Well ... yes. But the Anglicized version usually isn't spelled that was. It's somewhat unpronounceable for an American tongue, as the syllables don't usually come up. I'd spell it as tzephas. Don't try pronouncing that, please.

What are you playing right now?
aeromancer replied to Link Von Kelsier Harvey's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Boots are cheating. Stat items in general are cheating. Real men watch Ike level up, gain no stat points whatsoever, and resign themselves to a horrible game, and Ena. That's Fire Emblem. Taking what RNG gives you and laughing at it as all your characters are crit'd and die. Okay, I went a bit overboard. I'm just an indecisive item hogger who will go into the final level with all my speedwings and energy drops untouched. Sometimes, I leave the S rank weapons too, because I can't bear the though of that 24/25 uses remaining. You may have guessed that I have yet to use the Hammerne as well, but's that because i don't forge powerful enough weapons to justify using it.
