  1. The magic for each of the shardworlds did not occur until at least some portion of the power of creation (the power of Adonalsium and thus each Shard) was invested. There may have been some initial investment by Adonalsium (such as in the case of Roshar where WoB is that there are splinters of Adonalsium there from when Adonalsium left a portion of its power there), but in most cases the power that was invested came from the Shards.
  2. Hi, Crash. Welcome to 17S. Glad to count you among us.
  3. Welcome to 17S, Gyth. Glad to have you with us and hope you enjoy your cruise.
  4. Wow! I went from the Broken One back down to being an Elantrian. At least most people got to be something new. Now I got to work my way up to Wyrn so I can at least feel like I haven't gone back to square 1...err, whatever.
  5. Welcome, rererek! You have come to the right place. On to your questions: 1) The Azish looking fellow proclaims himself to be Nalan (one of the Heralds). You can also see him make an appearance in the Lift and Ym interludes as well as the final Szeth chapter in WoR (Words of Radiance; we like a lot of acronyms here). As to the Alethi looking fellow, we don't know. But some have speculated that this is Kelek (The Herald whose POV makes up the Prelude found in WoK). 2) There is an interesting parallel ther. I wonder if Navani will recognize it and give advice to Shallan. 3) There is a chance, but I'm pretty sure that we have WoB (Word of Brandon) indicating that historically there were no Parshendi KR (Knights Radiant). 4) You did not miss it. But Brandon has said that this is primarily a cultural feature and that there is no particular importance to the story of this practice (if I recall correctly). 5) Gavilar and his scholars misinterpretted the importance of the chasmfiends to the Parshendi. It appears that they would have been a food and/or gem source. WoR makes it pretty clear that they are not nor are they related to the Pashendi gods. 6) It seems that the storms play a significant role in the chasmfiend's pupation. Other than this we know little if anything else.
  6. Hi Crawly. Glad to see you step out from the shadows. Welcome to 17S.
  7. I'm pretty sure that the book indicates that Urithiru is in the mountains near the Emul border.
  8. If you go to the main forums page and look at the News and Guides subforum, you will see a link to the rules page. Look there for your answer.
  9. The overly bloated "Next one!" thread is chock full of questions and clues. Or you could simply post a request for help of your own at the end of that thread. We will almost certainly help out if you wish to continue the hunt.
  10. I see the numbers you are looking at now. The map you are looking at took the original map and put it in a larger frame. You are seeing some numbers and such which were not completely erased in the change. Check out this link for the original map. Here is my analysis of it from a much earlier post:
  11. Yeah, not 1, 2, 3, 4...etc. It is actually 10, 20, 30, 40...etc. More precisely 10, 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70. Also the center of the map is going to be near the top of the 'B' in Tu Bayla. As I said previously though, the most interesting thing to me about the latitude markings is the double hashmarks at 0, 23, 35, 47, and 68 degrees.
  12. WoR spoilers I think Delightful was just noting that the three worldhoppers are in the Ishikk interlude in WoK rather than alleging that Ishikk is a worldhopper.
  13. If this is the case, could you perhaps provide us with a hint that may give us a reasonable shot at it? Does the additional information come from one of Brandon's other works? The fact that we have mountain ranges but no significant plate tectonics? Some other geological or cartographical phenomenon or property? Edit: That is three consecutive posts now asking for a solid hint and even providing possible topics. Please, Peter?
  14. Here's a double post to provide to provide some new info courtesy of Luke.Spence. source So, it appears that there was indeed a communication error between Brandon and Talenelat. It seems very clear that Szeth did indeed have an Honorblade (again, almost certainly Jezrien's).
  15. Thanks, Luke. Now we know that it is the B&W Roshar map. It should be noted though that the map in the books does not exactly correspond to the image of the map on Brandon's website. Namely, the degrees are not on the map on Brandon's Site. But, fortunately, the hashmarks for the latitudes lines are there.
  16. Props on the sidenote. This may smack of some hemalurgy-esque practice. It is curious. Of course, assuming that he actually is Nalan (which I do), he has had a lot of time to collect some interesting and useful artifacts. I wonder how such a fabriel would be charged. Modern fabriels are charged simply with stormlight. But in Starfalls, the amber KR say she doesn't want to waste "regrowth" rather than stormlight. This suggests to me different operation possibly. That just leaves us wanting for clarity on the apparent conflict between the WoB saying no bond and Nalan saying bond (coupled with Szeth summoning and dismissing).
  17. All too correct, Kurk. My own preconceived notions about the practical value of Allomantic gold led me to discount this as a possibility. So I assumed the spikes would be Feruchemical gold being of much greater practical value.
  18. Spiking a bloodmaker would remove the bloodmaker's ability to draw on his/her feruchemical reserves and thus no healing could occur.
  19. I think we should call both the Dragon and the letter George!
  20. Welcome to 17S, PrinceCatel. The epic 36 volume (roughly) cosmere story arc is indeed correct. You are among friends.
  21. Welcome, Honorspren. Glad to see you in the physical realm. Wait...is the internet the physical realm?
  22. Kaladin: You know, I'm a rather brilliant surgeon. Perhaps I can help you with that missing arm. Lopen: What missing arm? Later... Kaladin: [pointing to lopen's missing arm] Didn't you, didn't you use to have that on the other side? Lopen: What? Kaladin: Your, uh, oh nevermind.
