  1. Apparently ABBA's still at it. Halfway through their new album; it's not bad!
  2. Just finished reading Nisekoi. It was really really good!

I've come to the conclusion that romance manga, like cheeseburgers, are bad for my heart.

...but, like cheeseburgers, I'm going to continue consuming them anyways. :D

  3. Hey, you're really good! I've always liked the sketchy style that come from...well, sketching. Look forward to seeing more!
  4. The Ti nib is a little stickier, I think would say. It's plenty smooth, but it doesn't skate across the page quite like the steel or gold ones would. It's very tactile, but without feedback. Mine seems decently wet, but not a gusher. Decent line variation with a little pressure. All in all, a solid writer! (I've heard others' experiences vary. Some say they're very flexy, some say they sing, and some say they're very wet indeed. Whatever the case, in my considered opinion, titanium is much more that just a gimmick: it's well worth trying one if you can!) This may also be a factor in the improved experience with my Ti nib. Hard to say for sure, but it's entirely possible I just finally broke it in. (I say I'm unsure, because I did clean it a few times before swapping it and it still was skippy. Or maybe it was changing inks that did it...) In any case I wish @Cyclops much happy writing with his Conklin! I want to like them so much, because their barrel design is on point, but those nibs, man...
  5. This was my sister last month. It really sucks, doesn't it? Hope you feel better soon!
  6. The Wikipedia entry for Gudetama is one of the most delightful things I've read today.

Also, TED talks are actually pretty good.

    Happy almost-Halloween, everyone!

  7. I'm glad it's working for you! Conklin's famous for having nib QQ issues. Looks like you got a good one!
  8. Welcome to the hobby! (A month later...sorry.) That's a very nice desk you have there! I too have noticed my handwriting has improved (marginally) simply by using pens more. Happy writing! @Kasimir I'll have to check that out. I've got a nib or two that needs shimming, but 1) I don't have a brass shim and 2) I too am worried about taking a large piece of metal to another very delicate one. And now...I have a gorgeous pen of my own to share! This thing is, as you can see, absolutely stunning. It’s very comfortable, too! Sure don’t regret this one, boys. Also of note: I got it with the titanium nib, which originally gave me a bit of trouble. I loved the way it felt on the page, but it was hard starting waaay too much--I suspect the cap isn’t totally airtight. I switched it into another pen, and now it’s working perfectly, while the nice wet steel nib from the other pen doesn’t give a fig about the seal on the Vertex’s cap. Overall I'm very happy!
  9. Much as I like (and could, at one point, relate) to Komi, I'm not sure I'm an anime icon type of guy.

    Back to the owl!

(The first episode was great, by the way.)

      This aged well.

  10. Got on a swing for the first time in the Stormfather knows how long!

...those things have no right to be as fun as they are.

  11. I must say, I quite like small-town Oregon. Sure, we passed a sign that I'm pretty sure said Murderer's Point and one town's mortuary was named Sweeney's, but it's absolutely beautiful and the people are quite friendly!

Small-town Oregon is pretty much exactly the way Gravity Falls portrays it. Even the sinister plot from a charismatic triangle demon.

Especially the sinister plot from a charismatic triangle demon.

  12. I have found myself unable to supply sufficient words for the situation so will instead leave you with a .GIF file that I hope adequately represents my thoughts and feelings: Congrats, man, happy for ya!
  13. @Cyclops Well, that's gorgeous. Hopefully more from me soon! I've been using the Karas Vertex for a while now, just need to put thoughts to paper.
  14. Whoo! Good job, man. Loved hearing y'all.
  15. Fair point! I read somewhere that President Nelson has personally announced like 83 temples or something. It's insane.
  16. Just. Brad Wilcox, man. (I guess that's Elder Wilcox now?) He is such a good speaker, and more than that, he clearly speaks with the Spirit. They all do--I also especially enjoyed Elder Nielsen's talk. And Sister Eubank is just awesome. And I could keep going... Can't wait for tomorrow, too. @Chinkoln I'd hardly say they're the least important! Actually I'd argue that it's one of the most important announcements each year. @Tani Same! I've made a few notes that basically amount to "Just rewatch this one. It's awesome." Also, was that @Steeldancer I spotted in the choir again?
  17. Well, we're off to a great start with the first session. That was amazing.

Squaw Peak in Provo, and yes, it's extremely pretty. :D

(ETA: It's since been renamed Kyhv Peak.)

  19. Apropos to Twi's reply to my last update:

      True, that. :P

  21. Not necessarily! Though you are reminding me of someone...
  22. So...this is a thing. A very good thing. I'm digging this synth-pop style Coldplay's been going with lately. Can't wait for the rest of the album!
  23. Couple days late, but happy birthday! Hope you had a good one.
