Writing is not the place to skimp on your budget. Seduce me, entice me, entertain me with words. Don't be cryptic, don't be stupid, and please don't be dull.
(Source) Originally about corporate writing and branding, I think the above quote is suitable to writing as a whole. See also Occam's Razor.

Turns out Vocal Point are still amazing even if only one of your ears is working. Ain't nobody need hearing when you can feel those voices in your bones my word
Also, shoutout to the dude in the group sitting across from us on the train who spent the whole ride back spouting puns! Thank you, kind sir, you made the return trip much less boring.

Happy Independence Day!
I'm really thankful, actually, for the United States of America. Please, let's not let the bad apples take away from what this country fundamentally is: a nation with limitless potential, designed to live and grow with its people to protect their liberty.
Might I share a couple songs I've been listening to today? I know they're not your typical patriotic songs, but good music knows no bounds.

Please tell me someone else finds this as funny as I do. I need to know I'm not insane.

Sometimes you can and should suspend disbelief, and sometimes you need a slightly deranged-sounding YouTuber to say "...we sure about this, guys?"
Myself, I saw the video before ever seeing a second of RWBY, and I about cried from laughing so hard. I'd never cared enough about the show to seek it out, but since the new series released and some friends from work invited me to watch it with them, I've been giving it a shot. And you know what? I'm enjoying it! Sure, it may eventually go the way of the drain like the parody indicates, but that's the magic of going in with (mostly) no preconceptions: I don't care!

Yeah, if you're watching the original series, I suggest that you stop at the end of Volume 3, because if you think that it can get better than what that finale did, you're wrong –– I still think that it's a beautiful finale to this day, despite not caring for the series anymore.. well, maybe in the future I'll do some rewriting, but that's another topic.
I can't say much about the new series, since haven't watched it yet, but I've been meaning to. From what I can tell, it appears to be a step up from the original series. I have to actually devote time to it instead of sitting in my room and basically doing nothing lol.

Quick question: which euphemism do you prefer, "shake a tower" or "rinse the flesh prison"?
Well, maybe that last one's a dysphemism. Either way.

Nocturne by Sadakichi Hartmann is one of my favorite poems of all time--it actually gave me goosebumps when I first read it. The composition is just *chef's kiss*
Simply copy-pasted this time so I don't butcher it with my...interesting handwriting.
SpoilerUpon the silent sea-swept land
The dreams of night fall soft and gray,
The waves fade on the jeweled sand
Like some lost hope of yesterday. The dreams of night fall soft and gray
Upon the summer-colored seas,
Like some lost hope of yesterday,
The sea-mew’s song is on the breeze.Upon the summer-colored seas
Sails gleam and glimmer ghostly white,
The sea-mew’s song is on the breeze
Lost in the monotone of night.Sails gleam and glimmer ghostly white,
They come and slowly drift away,
Lost in the monotone of night,
Like visions of a summer-day.They shift and slowly drift away
Like lovers’ lays that wax and wane,
The visions of a summer-day
Whose dreams we ne’er will dream again.Like lovers’ lays wax and wane
The star dawn shifts from sail to sail,
Like dreams we ne’er will dream again;
The sea-mews follow on their trail. The star dawn shifts from sail to sail,
As they drift to the dim unknown,
The sea-mews follow on their trail
In quest of some dreamland zone.In quest of some far dreamland zone,
Of some far silent sea-swept land,
They are lost in the dim unknown,
Where waves fade on jeweled sand
And dreams of night fall soft and gray,
Like some lost hope of yesterday. -
Three things:
- If you haven't heard Tim Foust or Geoff Castellucci's voices yet...you should fix that.
- We watched the best version of Pirates of Penzance last night (Smith, Ronstadt, Kline, Lansbury). Everyone in that show is an idiot and I love it.
- Reese's Puffs.
...okay fine, I'll elaborate: I about died of laughter last night after my mom asked why I was carrying around a box of said cereal. I was just going to ask my sister if she wanted any before I finished them off, but I'd just watched that stupid meme and something about her tone of voice did me in. I couldn't breathe.
