The pen is a Nahvalur (Narwhal) Nautilus; the ink is Iroshizuku Ku-jaku.

  2. Quote

Try to avoid saying that you're going to "make yourself" do something. Instead, take a breath, and describe what you hope to find yourself doing. Inhabit your intentionality, and quit trying to knock down a fully unlocked door.

(source) Good advice. I've been really into the concept of "intentionality" for a while, particularly since Elder Uchtdorf's excellent talk that touched on the subject (and also hobbits!).

  3. Drawing? Sculpture? Either way, it's excellent. 10/11.
  4. All right, I've decided. My favorite track is Undone, with All Our Pieces and Just Looking Around coming in just after it. Hnggghhh I love this album
  5. Favorite band just dropped their new album! Favorites after the first listen are Cut the Cord, Reason, and All Our Pieces. We'll see if anything changes once the album settles a bit more. But ahhhh! I'm so happy. It's been three years since their last--which was supposed to be a double album, but that got axed somewhere along the way. I'm glad it's finally here!
  6. The music from Cinderella (2015) absolutely slaps. My boy Patty D at it again. What a madlad

Also I ship the "grand" duke and the stepmother. They can go be terrible together, somewhere else

  7. I...daydream a lot. Someone once said that a writer is just somebody who forces the voices in their head to pay rent, and yeah, that's accurate. Songs play a huge part in this. This particular option happens most with regard to fanfiction--when I hear a song that reminds me of a character, it can spin into its own scenario pretty easily. Idea fusion, as mentioned before, also happens. For example, a short story I'm working on right now came about after a daydream scenario interacted with a silly response to a writing prompt. Neither on their own was enough to inspire me, but together they provided an idea intriguing enough to write about. And sometimes you're just bored at work.
  8. Oh, that's a good one! Dan Wells' writing is some of my favorite, even if it does often put me off my lunch (or my faith in humanity) sometimes. May I recommend the movie as well?
  9. Today's Wikipedia rabbit hole: The name Ffrench can legitimately be spelled ffrench, without the leading capital, because "ff" was the capital F in handwriting--that is, the capital F, instead of looking like an "F", was written as a doubled-up "f". Reminds me a little of the long s (this thingy: ſ).

Did that make sense? Probably not, but linguistics (and me being tired) will do that sometimes. Great fun, isn't it?

is Ffrench even a name? never heard of it.

could you do fffrench then? two for the capital and one for the lowercase.

Indeed! It's pretty rare, but it exists. (And, fun fact, does not mean "French". It means "ash tree".) One of my and my mother's favorite pianists is Alexis Ffrench, for example.

Er, I don't think so. I mean you could, because English has no rules, but it would be the height of redundancy. A detail I should've included in the original post is that unlike the ſ, it's an incorrect transcription that stuck around--it was never intended to literally be two Fs.

You know what? Here's the original articles, as I've ended up basically just rewriting them anyways. :P

  10. What's better than coming home after a family reunion? Coming home to a house with working air conditioning.

Also, Idaho is beautiful and it was positively lovely to see my family again.

Well, color me in awe. That's indeed a very pretty song! Gives me similar vibes to "Leave Her, Johnny", which is another favorite shanty of mine.

  13. The only limit is your determination. It's cans all the way down, baby.
  14. Oh the Carnelian! Yeah, that one was super pretty. Thought it was red, though?
  15. Is it the Apricot translucent one? That's the only one a search revealed. I will try to take a picture--it might take two people and thus a while, though.
  16. Looking at them again, it appears that there's a gap in the tipping. The tines themselves look like they're in line, though, so idk what's up. ETA: Arrrgh Platinum why do you do this to me
  17. Happy Shardiversary! I've enjoyed seeing you around the forums and conversing with you here and there. Here's to many more!
  18. That new Storm Over the Ocean and the matchy-matchy Manyo Pro Gears really got me thinking hard about my self-imposed pen embargo... I've got a 1911 Large, MF, in Stormy Sea that I don't quite don't know what to do with. I love it, but then I also can't tell if the nib is exhibiting normal Sailor behavior or if I got a genuinely scratchy one. I'm thinking I might send it off to Mr. Masuyama, if I can't diagnose the problem on my own.
  19. Happy Pioneer Day to all my Utah peeps!

In what regard? Pioneer Day celebrations, or the summer? If summer, I know it's even worse farther south. That's why I don't live farther south. :P I am a wimp when it comes to heat. The only thing that gets me through August is the knowledge that September comes next.

      Ah, gotcha.

  20. Glad you found us! It's nice to see more than just the same three people talking in a circle around here.
  21. Ooh, them's good questions. For favorite pen, I'd have to say it's a tie between my Lamy 2000 and Pilot 823. As for ink, I don't know if I have a favorite single ink, but I tend to like blues and purples. And I'm a total convert to Tomoe River; it handles ink like none other and the texture is marvelous. I don't yet know how the new stuff'll stack up, but I'm optimistic. Either way, there's plenty of paper out there, and I look forward to trying more of it.
  22. Not me listening to "Year 3000" as recorded by the Jonas Brothers, on repeat, after having spent all my mental capacity laughing at niche humor on Pinterest

Honey, the other night, I was watching YouTube vids in my bed and was trying not to laugh too hard at the okay jokes that were told. I can relate.

I also eventually fell asleep to those vids, but whatever.

  23. If priming the feed--that's twisting the piston or converter, or gently shaking the pen or squeezing the cartridge, until the feed saturates again--doesn't work, try running it under water for a bit and then drying with a paper towel. If that still doesn't work, you may have to flush and clean the pen (if you have a viable container handy, you might even be able to save the ink.)
