  1. I know I'm horrendously late, but thank you for sharing this. I've had similar experiences, and hearing others share theirs really buoys my spirit.
  2. Well, that bites. Conklin is one of the most frustrating companies out there right now--they've nailed the pen itself, but the writing experience, the one part that actually matters, seems to be consistently terrible. It's really disappointing.
  3. I don't exactly have any room to talk. But thanks for the advice; noted! My sister's the artist, and the couple times she's gotten into my ink the results have been impressive, to say the least. I use 'em for journaling, myself. One of these days I'd like to try a longer-form project with them, like drafting a novel or copying a text I like. @Cyclops Platinum nibs are amazing, no matter the price point. That set is delightful, glad you're enjoying them, and I'm happy to hear your Conklin's doing better, too!
  4. "Two words: Bonsai ents." - my sister

"Isn't that just Baby Groot?" - my mother

  6. Quote

Adam Grant on Procrastination: “Many people procrastinate because they’re waiting for their motivation to rise. They forget that getting started is what leads their motivation to rise. Passion is not a prerequisite for progress. It’s often the result of progress.”

Found this gem in an email newsletter.

That's really inspiring. I think I need to hang that up on my mirror.

Isn't it? I love coming across these little "wisdom bombs" that help me rethink the way I was approaching something.

  7. So you know that update I posted a while back about "one of my favorite videos on the internet"? Well, I've officially discovered the slowed + reverb genre, and it carries a lot of the same vibes. Just, do yourself a favor, maybe, and find a slowed version of a song you like. You might feel like you've transcended reality for just a few minutes too.

(Also, the comments sections are often really chill. It's nice to see.)

  8. Saw the Lower Lights in concert tonight! A wonderful experience. They played a fun set, a mix of rowdy folk songs and quiet hymns. As an encore, they did Spirit in the Sky--which apparently their drummer had been bugging them to play for years--and God Be With You 'til We Meet Again. A bit of an odd combo, but it worked.

  9. The New World Symphony is amazing! Dvořák also wrote my personal favorite piece, his Serenade for Strings. I recommend checking that out too, if you're interested--the second movement especially.
  10. Unsubscribing from email lists sometimes feels like that scene from The Princess Bride...

"Give us the gate key." (Let me unsubscribe.)
"What gate key?" (Technically you can, but good luck navigating the labyrinthine settings.)
"Fezzik, rip his arms off." (Fine, then I'll just close my account.)
"Oh, you mean this gate key?" (Oh, you mean these settings right here?)

  11. Simple, direct, solid advice. 10/10.
  12. This is one of my favorite videos on the internet. I don't know why. It feels...forbidden, somehow. Surreal. Like I'm in a liminal dimension, temporarily separated from normal spacetime.

  13. Aw, you just missed me. I feel like, as a lerasium mistborn, I would immediately fling myself into the nearest wall. While trying to use brass.
  14. Ward temple trip tonight! Was super duper amazing. There's really no place else on earth like the temples.
  15. Happy birthday!

  16. I don't doubt it. This pen is practically perfect in every other way; I can only image what it's like at full power. I'm thinking of inquiring with Mike Masuyama, as he's had a lot of experience with Sailor specifically--unless anyone has had a good experience with another nibmeister they'd like to recommend? And thank you! I look forward to it.
  17. Mm. Got it. So, it does do that, but with added scratchiness that shouldn't be there. Thanks everyone! I'll look into options for getting it fixed now that I definitely know something's wrong.
  18. Given that I've had it for three years, unlikely. The reason I didn't immediately return it is that it writes fine...kind of? On the right paper, at the right angle, with the right pressure, it's magic. But then I go a little too fast, or turn it too far one way, or use a different paper, and I'm like "...huh." The fact that Sailor nibs are famed for their unique feedback added to the uncertainty. That looks like it, yeah. I don't know if I can make it to a show, though I'd dearly love to. I know there are a few mail-order nibmeisters, though.
  19. I am so sorry it's taken me so long to get back about this. Did you know nibs are a pain to take pictures of if you don't have a macro lens? These are the best pictures I was able to get. That being the case, I'll describe it too: the problem seems to be that the tip of the nib looks like a B instead of a D. Basically there's a little tiny gap at the tip of the tines which are otherwise aligned.
  20. In some ways. I'd do everything in my power to not be obnoxious...but I've been known to forget to do the dishes from time to time. TPBM hates seafood.
  21. I'm almost done with the show, I say. That character's arc is over, I say. What kind of spoilers could you possible offer me? I say.

I forgot there was a movie, I say.

Storm it all to Braize, I say.

  22. I actually haven't read beyond the main series and the first two prequels, but I've heard good things. I look forward to reading the rest!
  23. There are too many hymns I love that I'd love to share, so I'll just say that if that's your jam take a look through the nearest hymnal and see if you can't find something to cheer you up. I bet you will! Also, go listen to "It's Alright" by Mother Mother.
  24. Never thought I'd see Owl City and Gareth Emery in the same place at the same time, but boy howdy am I happy about it! And this Armin van Buuren guy, too. I guess he's a big deal or something? (yes, I do actually know who he is, don't worry)
