  1. Sunwatcher/Vane has been approved now and meeting Fenna and Leon sounds like a great idea. Vane is morally grey enough that he wouldn't be all that opposed to forming a temporary partnership. Also if Leon is on the hunt for some anti-light Vane wouldn't mind getting a boost to his arsenal. Given the current lockdown and your character's troubles with the law, some emotional Allomancy and being accompanied by a New Halladran resident might help you in the future. We can have Vane be at the checkpoint near where you guy are or you guys can meet him later. Vane would usually prefers making friends instead of enemies but if you want a altercation to occur that would also work. @TwinStorm@Steel SpeedsterLet me know what you guys think.
  2. I've been absent from the shard for about a month (School and stuff) but here is a revised version of Sunwatcher. Also for clarification he has 3 spikes. 1 for Divine Breath, 1 For Allomantic Zinc and another 1 for Allomantic Duralumin. Sorry for having phrased that weirdly. How he arrived in the Alley's: Synopsis of his first few months in Alleycity: Episode 1 of Era 8 looks cool so far. Sunwatcher isn't going to be a leading player by any means but if any faction is looking for some hired help he is more then willing at least in the short term. @Koloss17 If there are any other needed changes let me know. I want to see if there is place for Sunwatcher somewhere fairly quickly as I don't want to miss any more of Era 8.
  3. Future sight in the Cosmere is a bit odd. Leras definitely looks like a God tier genius because of his plan but if it failed he would have seemed like a idiot. You can see infinite possibilities as a shard and so you can always see a future where you succeed. Oduim had future sight to and thought Dalinar and Kaladin would side with him but he was incorrect. Shards seem to be less able to predict the actions of other shards and so Cultivation was certainly blindsided by this outcome. This wasn't to say she wasn't prepared though. The creation of Lift's unique abilities are going to be crucial in a world without stormlight. Cultivation didn't win but she was prepared to fail.
  4. @Koloss17 Please tell me what you think/what need to change. I have never done any Sanderson RP before and I'm excited to check out the Alleyverse. Also is there a clear timeline for Alley City? I'm a but unclear as to when everything is taking place.
  5. His immortality comes from having held a Dawnshard unless your able to spike his entire spirtweb he is going to regenerate as it comes from having a mutated soul not a active power.
  6. Hemalurgic Decay applies to attributes as well as powers and because Identity decays when you steal it with H-Duralumin it should decay when along with the powers when left out. There is a limit to Hemalurgic Decay though and 90% of it happens within a day so I don't thinks that's what happening with Koloss. I think old Koloss would also be much weaker if their attributes were continuing to decay. My theory is that either they have adapted to the changes over time or being viewed as one entity for long enough has partially incorporated the spikes into the Koloss's spirtweb similar to how a walls spirtweb works when forging it. Trauma related to the transformation certainly interferes with brain functions and its hard to say how much is magical and how much is the pain of your skin falling off. Intentionally leaving your spikes out could be a smart idea. Vin's spike let her break copperclouds and I think that has undergone significant decay. You could probably store much more then average with around 100-120% but if you were blanking identity as well I wonder if you could get 200-250%. Spikes can't store infinite investiture unfortunately and identity contamination could interfere with the use of powers. It's a shame we didn't get more interludes showing the Set's activities because as its stands they know more then we do and we'll have to make some educated guesses.
  7. He can influence/talk and listen to you with one spike like with Vin or Wax. He gains full control at 4.
  8. Finally Brandon is giving Sylphrena the respect she deserves. Vote StormQueen Sylphrena as Queen of Roshar today!
  9. I seeing Taln fight would have simply been too awesome. It would overshadow the rest of the book as nothing could compare. Honestly it's such a missed opportunity Brandon must been waiting till the back half where we can see him fight at full power and watch him solo the whole Cosmere. Here is a theory: Taln at some point will take up Valor and save Harmony from a attack by Retribution. I don't think this exact scenario will happen but I'm not sure there is a better candidate for Valor then Taln and the current Valor isn't doing crap when it comes to helping (not very valorous of them).
  10. One of the things that could make a democracy more viable in Urithiru/Shattered Plains Alethkar is demographics. A substantial part of the Tower is made up of Radiants and Nobles who already exercised political authority under the old system. They are more used to participating in governance and there are not that many people in the Tower who don't have some form of education as most of the peasants were left in Alethkar. I could see a House of Lords and House of Radiant overseen by the Tower Bondsmith being a decent form of goverment. This is me arguing a position I don't agree with though I think despite the real world implications a monarchy is better for a narrative then a democracy. It's easier to care about 1 person then 100 I hope Brandon doesn't go overboard making Urithiru to modern.
  11. But when! He can only write so much and I can only wait so long!
  12. He was probably not trapping a Unmade in Shinovar but Ishar is giving Spren substance in the PR in the same way he would have trapped a Unmade. Ishar probably would have used this method to deal with the Unmade permanently if he had thought of it before going crazy. Cool to see moments from the Prime version of the stories actually get used.
  13. In the name of civil discussion I will try to summarize the argument that I and the others on the thread who like WaT have tried to make. It's okay to dislike this book, you are not obligated to like anything but saying it's poorly written because the characters make choices you don't agree with is a tad shortsighted. I think this book made significant improvements in pacing and keeping me entertained the whole way through. Things like the siege of Azir make this book less slow then prior entries and I actually managed to tolerate Venli existing in this one. This book like everything in life is flawed (I personally wish Kaladin had a bigger role in the Honorbearer fight scenes) whether those flaws are a dealbreaker for you is your choice but I don't feel that Dalinar made any huge mistakes and think there are more valid criticisms that could be made. My main complaint is that it left a lot of characters fates unclear especially The Mink and Rock. Are the Horneaters going to freeze to death now that Cultivation is gone? What was that greatshell that showed up in Herdaz? I'm all for cliffhangers but waiting for 8ish years is excessive and I would have liked a extra epilogue chapter. At the end of the day this book was 10/10 for a people that say it's trash are overreacting, I've read trash books there is a book difference between them and this.
  14. Great point. I thought it was a bit weird the Highspren aren't entirely of Honor but that fact that the Honorspren were created by Tanavast and not just "Honor" is important as it shows Tanavast's intent and perception of Honor and possibly shows a path that Honor itself can take to have a more nuanced intent.
  15. Brandon mentions that Ruins investiture is everywhere in the Cosmere so its possible that variants of Hemalurgy can be found everywhere similar to how we see different versions of Lightweaving. It's different but follows the same principals and might not be directly associated with a Shard.
  16. True shards that have more invested champions would be better. Autonomy, Harmony and Endowment would be good candidates for a new oathpact. The reason I think it would be better to have heralds instead of fused is from what we have seen the fused kind of suck and get easily beaten in most fights where the heralds are one man armies.
  17. I think he was talking about Spren specifically or power he thought was not being used well. Getting rid of all the Fused definitely be a waste however I could easily seem him taking out the more useless ones maybe somewhere from %25-%50 of them.
  18. I used to think there was a cap of 10 heralds (One for each order) but it seems it can go higher if the number is cosmere significant. Do you think Retribution could make new heralds for a new oathpact to serve as his generals? I know the original could be expanded but that doesn't seem likely. With Retribution Spren creating new Nahel bonds and possibly a new version of void/surgebinding a new oathpact that could represent new and old orders would be interesting. I think Vyre, El, and the Blackthorn are solid candidates for elevation. With Retribution having more power to work with then most shards I don't see why he wouldn't make more champions with it and new Heralds seem more interesting then new unmade in my opinion. Imagine if Retribution's number is something high like 25 and he gets really crazy with it. Also what do you think a new Oathpact could be used for? Invention and Reason seem like dangerous shards in the long run and something that could keep them out of the game could be crucial.
  19. Wow what a cool theory! Don't think they are going to use the dawnshards as they are a bit volatile. I think the end goal for the series is the rebirth of Adonalsium. Hoid was been working on bringing back the dead and a lot of the vessels have realized they messed up by creating so many negative shards. If Devotion and dominion are revived by Hoid or one the Shards I think Taravangian is might accidently rebirth Adonalsium after a 3 way war between him Autonomy and everyone else. I'm thinking Autonomy is the next shard to go down and will probably be taken out around the time of stormlight 10.
  20. I'm a big Syladin fan. Don't care either if it happens or not the friendship is already great but if Kaladin does end up with anyone it's Syl or its no one. They are the most important people in each others lives and if Renarin and Rlain can handle the species gap so can they. Also being together doesn't mean physical intimacy. I myself am asexual and I've always considered a romantic partner just a extra close best friend that I'm comfortable being myself around. Kaladin and Syl already meet this definition is my eyes so the only thing they are missing is confirmation from Brandon. Hyped to see more cute moments in the back half. The dancing scene was so beautiful and I hope we get more moments like that. Having someone that stands by you even at your worst and helps through your sadness warms my heart and that's why I love Syladin.
  21. That's a bad comparison, your sense of scale is wrong. Imagine if Abraham Lincoln was given the choice between killing everyone in the USA or letting the Confederates secede and hoping they abandon slavery/rejoin on their own. Also Dalinar didn't surrender any territory to Odium the planet was already 90% conquered and it would have just been Azir, Alethkar and Herdaz (Maybe Shinovar it's status was a little unclear) that stayed independent even if they did win. Retribution straight up has to flee Roshar and the people he has left in charge might not be entirely loyal to him. It was between letting a genius schemer have 70% control of a planet with access to the most powerful magic in the Cosmere hands down and give him time to match or exceed the technological level of the other planets to reinforce his advantage. Oduim would definitely have no qualms micro managing Roshar and given them access to all the tech that the other shards refused to share with their own planets. Also without Oduim becoming Retribution the other shards would probably consider him as much of a threat as Autonomy and would let themselves get taken out 1 by 1 (Nobody helped Harmony when Scadrial was about to be wiped out). It's fine for you to disagree the other Shards probably have the same opinion as you but we were given a pretty good explanation as to why this was the right move and I find all the hate quite silly. At the end of the day it doesn't matter though a book for everyone is a book for no one and this book was my favorite in the series hands down. DALINAR KHOLIN IS THE GOAT and this ending was a great mixup from HoA.
  22. Wonder if Zahel might become a radiant to and use breaths to fuel his surges.
  23. He can only write so much. I'm actually concerned that he might not survive long enough to finish the series with how many different books he is writing. Sanderson is a beast though and we might get a shorter story like Dawnshard or Secret History that will give us the highlights. Also its not a huge time skip only like 10 years I think considering it was like a 100 year time skip between Mistborn Series I don't think to much should change.
  24. I hope so I was genuinely very confused on what happened to the Mink
  25. I like The Reckoners and Skyward even though they are non cosmere. Yumi and the Nightmare Painter and The Emperor's Soul are probably my favorite individual cosmere books.
