  1. It is important to not though that the Seons do have problems still. The current ones can no longer "actualize" their Aon to create a magical effect. Due to the absence of the Chasm line, it would not work as it should. So, there would be some use to adding the Chasm line. I just don't know if it would be possible. I see the Aon as being an essentially immutable part of who they are, possibly having a great effect on their Cognitive Aspect. I don't think that would be easy to change.
  2. See, the way I read that quote is that the whole "universe" is still the cosmere, but all the events in the stories are inside a single galaxy.
  3. I would like to formally announce that I have to eat crow, thanks to Kurk. Denth is a member of the Idrian Royal Family. This totally blindsided me, but great catch For anyone who didn't see our discussion, I was rather vehemently opposed to the idea of Denth as a Royal. I guess this explains how people knew who his sister was.
  4. And on the wiki... Man that's an awful article. But the wiki being helpful twice in one day? I'm astounded.
  5. I would absolutely be shocked if Brandon ended up going with Ferringborn. The "Mist" prefix was due mostly to Allomancy's connection with the Mists. I really doubt the Feruchemy would follow that same convention. He might just go with "Feruchemist" which doesn't seem unreasonable. On the forums, to avoid confusion, we usually default to "full Feruchemist"
  6. If Phantom's post wasn't clear, Tanavast was the former holder of the Shard Honor. You saw him in the epilogue of TWoK, talking to Dalinar. If it was clear, sorry for reiterating XD
  7. What you couldn't see was Chaos's air quotes around "soon" there
  8. I know we're all waiting eagerly for Michael Whelan to reveal the cover for Words of Radiance. But while we're waiting, he touched up an old cover study of Kaladin. What do you guys think?
  9. Hey dgoose, I'm glad you heard about us. Welcome to 17th Shard! Yes, we are planning on doing a TWoK reread to prep for WoR. We're just going to be starting a little closer to the release date than Tor is. The current season of Shardcast is working through a reread of Elantris as well. I hope this helps and that you have a good time here!
  10. But what's pretty quickly? Depending on what sort of person you are, I can see it as taking a long time to really accept the fact that you have a disability. Especially with Rysn's stubbornness. She seems like someone who would refuse to accept her fate.
  11. Chaos's reevaluation of his questions caused me to change mine as well. Firstly, I'm dropping the TLR one. I can't in good conscience ask Brandon that many cosmere questions in a AMoL AMA. If anyone else wants to steal it, feel free. The first two are basically unchanged. The third one has been tweaked to try to get new info while still confirming Bloodsealing as a separate system. 1. Why does Hoid want the Moon Scepter? Or was it just a convenient excuse to get Shai imprisoned? 2. Shai refers to an Unknown God, is this at all related to the rocks that fell from the sky that Shai's ancestors carved? 3. Why does Scadrial, which has two Shards, only have three manifestations of investiture, (Allomancy, Feruchemy, and Hemalurgy) but Sel, also with two Shards, has five manifestations of investiture (AonDor, Dakhor, ChayShan, Forgery, and Bloodsealing)? Those parentheses may or may not stay there.
  12. Lo and behold, the week after spring break I actually had a bit of time where I wasn't doing homework to knock this one out in a couple of hours! Sit back, relax, and enjoy. As a side note, this is the last of the backlogged audio we have. The interview has been entered into the Interview Database.
  13. See, I think she seems to be a Stoneward. At the very least, their Plate is described as glowing the same color. And then in Dalinar's vision with the Radiant holding the topaz-heliodor thing. It seems to me that each order of Radiants, if they do all end up having Plate, would have theirs glow a color unique to their order. So, I think this is a reasonable amount of evidence for the woman being a Stoneward.
  14. Might want to throw Warbreaker in there between Mistborn and TWoK before you post it, Kurk. Other then that, it looks nice!
  15. I too, am an Idahoan, although I live way up in the panhandle. Beautiful country, but the winters are fairly miserable.
  16. That's on my list of questions for the AMA. Unfortunately I probably won't ask it because 4 questions is a bit too much for an AMA that's based on the WoT.
  17. O.o Those are gorgeous. As soon as I have a bit of extra cash saved up, you can be sure I'll be ordering one. Those are absolutely a work of art and I'd be honored to own one.
  18. I tend to believe that this is a fabrial as well. Mostly, because honestly I see Radiants running around with purses full of Stormlight as seeming a tad silly. And really, wouldn't they be better off keeping any source of Stormlight inside their plate? When you're in the middle of a battle, you don't want to have to focus on hanging onto two fist sized gemstones while also keeping the Voidbringers from tearing your throat out.
  19. I proposed a similar theory based on belief a while ago, but for different reasons. I could see this also being a valid explanation. Also, just for clarity's sake, it's the Cognitive Realm that Kel is in.
  20. Honorblades are the personal weapons of the Heralds. There are only ten and they are way more powerful than regular Shardblades. So that first bit at least is incorrect. Also, welcome to the forums!
  21. I have to say, I did not expect this development. Rysn getting paralyzed from the waist down is pretty shocking to me. As well as the spren of the island slowing her fall. It must have some sort of sentience going on, bringing our count of sentient spren types up to two. I'm happy that Brandon had an explanation for why Rysn didn't die, because a fall from that height was pushing the bounds of plausibility. I am glad Vstim isn't actually as close to dying as he appears. As cliched as the "wise old mentor" may be, I do love this trope.
  22. Dude, I know that it got answered. Eric and I have discussed this. I've listened to the whole 6 hours twice trying to find it and asked both Josh and Eric if they know specifically where it is. No one knows what happened to it. It's gone, and I want to hear Brandon himself answer it. I get to chose what I want to ask, and getting an explicit verbatim citation is something that I personally value. So thank you for your input, but no, I will not be removing that question. We will not be posting the audio, at least not in its current version. The amount of work to edit it down would be enormous and quite frankly not worth the time spent doing it, in my opinion.
  23. Heh, the Dragonwasp Legion is a noble band of warriors crusading for truth in the face of utter wrong-ness If you look behind the Radiant table here you can see some mysterious crustacean creatures with wings from Aimia. When we noticed them, a debate rose about what to call them. I chose the "way" more awesome name "Dragonwasps" while some others chose "Crabwasps". KChan made the Legion to unite all of us Dragonwaspers under one banner. I think we might have won too, because the Crabwasps have yet to make their own banner In all honesty it's just a fun and silly debate about a non-canonical name, but I kept the banner because it looks so official and awesome. I think there are still a few others around here somewhere.
  24. What eero says is true, but if you still want to be a part of the book bomb, the blog post seems to indicate that it's scheduled for today.
  25. Maybe you could ask about the whole spren thing we've been discussing on the wiki. I seriously didn't mean to start that XD I should post my questions too. I've got four right now, but I may whittle them down as I think upon them more. 1. Why does Hoid want the Scepter of the Moon? Or was it just a convenient excuse to get Shai imprisoned? 2. Shai refers to an Unknown God, is this at all related to the rocks that fell from the sky that Shai's ancestors carved? 3. Kelsier and Rashek share multiple characteristics; both were Allomancers, Slivers, and had religions based after them. Does Rashek also have the ability to hang around after death? 4. Is Bloodsealing a subset of Forgery, like Resealing? (I believe you've answered this before, but the audio was lost somewhere)
