  1. No need to find quotes, I recognize all that info. Eh, I think you're right about where the initial Splinters to fuel Seons came from. But Seons can expend the Aons in their core and die. I think they've been around so long that they would have gone extinct if that was the case. And the other "natural" Splinters we've seen, spren and the Divine Breath, are not themselves sentient. I think it probably requires an interaction with a human or some other intelligence to bind the power to the Aon at a Seon's core, which I personally believe forms the foundation for their mind and personality. The argument could be made that the reason there are so few Seons is that none have been made since the beginning, but I find the abrupt drop-off in population intriguing, even if I factor in the fact that Seons are now unfashionable. I think they were being made, but something's stopped it now. This is about as baseless as speculation comes though, so I guess we'll have to see. I fully expect to have this blown out of the water come Elantris 2.
  2. The "Voidbringer shadow" thing is interesting. My gut says it's just one of those odd things which people don't understand, so automatically they go "VOIDBRINGER! EVIL, RUN!"
  3. Oh, certainly AonDor being of Devotion is basically confirmed. After all, Aona held Devotion, and AonDor literally has the first bit of her name in it. It's not ironclad, but I'll personally be shocked if it works out some other way. I think that there certainly is a link between Seons and AonDor in that they probably both are of Devotion. I also see it as a possibility that AonDor was used to create the Seons, although there has been no hint that the Elantrians themselves knew anything about the origin of Seons. Going slightly off topic, my personal nutty theory about that is that somewhere there is another Aon like Elantris that was set up to create Seons without any oversight, and now that the chasm has been formed, it's ceased to produce any because no one's knows where it is or how to repair it.
  4. That's what I've always assumed personally. It has the sound of "Stormfather" or "Stonesinew," both names for other Heralds. If I had to pick one, I'd say Ishar. He's the Herald of Luck, according to Kaladin which explains why Taravangian would mention him; he's lucky to have gotten Szeth's oathstone. Ishar is also a male, and attached to the essences of flesh and meat, which fit with the "Life" bit of Lifebrother.
  5. I strongly doubt that having a Seon means that you have the potential to be taken by the Shaod. I see it as more of a bond; you don't have to be on the path to being a Radiant to have a Shardblade so why would you need the potential to be taken by the Shaod to have a Seon?
  6. Mhmm. I do think it would take an Elantrian to draw or create any portion of any functioning Aon.
  7. Ding ding ding!
  8. Welcome back to the fandom! Hope you like it here
  9. I think it sounds fine personally, I was just checking.
  10. Nepene. Josh (Rubix), as well as Mi'ch (firstRainbowRose), live in Utah, go to Brandon's events all the time. They're friends outside of this whole fandom, Brandon talks to them and sometimes mentions stuff that doesn't get directly recorded in a signing. They're not doing reports on every conversation they have. If Josh and Mi'ch tell you that Brandon said something, without providing a source, that means Brandon said it directly to them. In addition to that, this tweet answers both your questions quite nicely.
  11. I'm loving the way this update looks! :D

    1. Chaos

      Chaos

      Isn't it slick??

  12. The view new content button took me a second to find. If you look to the immediate left of the search bar, you'll see a button with some horizontal bars. Hover over that and a drop down menu will appear with "View new content" as it's first option.
  13. I haven't seen that issue at all either.
  14. That's possible. But where else would we have read about it?
  15. This also makes sense for why all the other "Expanses" border Roshar's expanse (Wish we had a name for that). There's very little cognitive stuff going on between the two, so there's very little space between them in Shadesmar. Also, I'm still saying Ruin and Preservation are opposites
  16. Brandon's been answering some questions on Reddit, and he just said some pretty cool stuff. This quite clearly implies that Hoid wrote the letter, personally my mind is made up on the matter. Many thanks to Nepene for so quickly letting us know about this revelation... Also, Shadesmar! This info comes from here.
  17. I think you've accidentally phrased this in a way that is unintentionally misleading. To clarify, the cosmere is not our universe minus our solar system, or even minus our galaxy. It's a totally unique universe completely distinct from our own. So, for example, you wouldn't be able to find the Magellanic Cloud or the Andromeda galaxy there.
  18. Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to draw attention to this. Yes you can. The lightswitch in the upper left turns it on and off
  19. Yeah, I'm definitely seeing that too. We'll throw it on the list of bugs.
  20. So is a kickstarter specifically what you're looking at doing?
  21. If I'm remembering right, the only metalmind you can fill while sleeping is wakefulness, for obvious reasons.
  22. Brandon has said Kaladin is on the path to becoming a Windrunner. And, each order has only five oaths, sharing the first one among all ten orders, for a total of 41 oaths.
  23. I am firmly in the camp that The Emperor's Soul and Elantris stay in the same forum. It seems that Kurk has acquiesced to this already, but I would like to make one point. While TES and Elantris may seem only tangentially related at the present time, I think they'll become heavily connected as the future two Elantris books come out. With a nation that could challenge the Fjordell Empire and two largely unexplored magic systems just sitting there, I can't see Brandon not using them in the next few books. Stuff like how the MaiPon and the Jindoeese separated has been RAFO'd for future books. I think this could eventually become as connected to the main Elantris trilogy as Alloy is connected to the Mistborn trilogy. I think a general cosmere short story subforum could be useful one day, perhaps once more have come out. Right now it would be looking like the Eleventh Metal, Hope of Elantris, and Shadows for Silence. Two of those can be discussed for now in their larger forums. I think that any topics for SfS could do quite nicely in the main cosmere board or other stuff until a larger group has been built up. That being said, I don't personally object to a more clear division between cosmere and non-cosmere books. I don't know how feasible that is from a forum building perspective though.
  24. I'm no gamer, but I'd be willing to support this. They're so neat looking!
