  1. What? Did I miss where this was confirmed?
  2. I disagree with that. The book ends right after the end of the Battle of the Tower, which is in 1173. Also, no Weeping happened, so it can't be the end of the year.
  3. I was always on board for this idea. Relationships are one of the basic foundational part of character, they deserve a section.
  4. Peter answered that question on Twitter, it's the symbol of Michael Whelan, he inserts it somewhere into all of his covers.
  5. Excellent work, I had just been thinking that it was time for an update.
  6. As an aside, order ten is not confirmed to be the Bondsmiths. Also, I tend to believe that if any spren is nearing one hundred percent Honor, it would be the Honorspren of the Windrunners, considering the fact that they are called Honorspren. The opposite of them would be the Cryptics (or liespren, and we all know how Syl feels about lies...) which are engaged in political conflict with the Honorspren, which would make sense considering the fact that if they are mostly Cultivation they would be on the opposite side of the Honor:Cultivation ratio.
  7. I think, given the richness of the world Brandon's built on Roshar, we're sure to see more of it than the tiny desolate corner that is the Shattered Plains.
  8. This week, there is not one but two awesome new releases for us to enjoy. We have both a four-and-a-half hour long by Brandon as well as Chapters 6, 8, and 9 from Words of Radiance! The first comes thanks to Worldbuilders, an annual charity run by the incredible Pat Rothfuss, author of the Kingkiller Chronicle. Worldbuilders partners with Heifer International to raise money for needy people with drawings and auctions for various fantasy and sci-fi books and miscellaneous nerdery. The stretch goal unlocked at $100,000 dollars was a live Write-a-thon and Q&A with Brandon, sponsored by the Waygate Foundation. Last Friday, Brandon worked on a short story that was brainstormed in concert with the audience. He also spent time in a Q&A about various writing things, as well as a few interesting tidbits, such as a future of White Sand. It's quite a long video, but be sure to check it out if you missed it happening live. The other release is of three more chapters of Words of Radiance. At this point, around ten percent of the book is available in the preview chapters, so that's fairly awesome. These three new chapters cover more of Shallan's voyage, a first look at the new skirmishes against the Parshendi with Dalinar, and a return to the chasms of the Shattered Plains by Kaladin. The most obviously interesting thing to notice here is the exclusion of Chapter 7. Why did Tor chose to exclude this chapter? Whose point of view is it from? What happens during it? Something tells me that we'll have to wait until March to find out, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait. Remember, Words of Radiance spoilers are only allowed on the Words of Radiance spoiler subforum. If you want to discuss these new chapters, check out this topic. If you missed out on the other Words of Radiance chapters released by Tor, the Prologue and Chapters 1, and 2 can be found here, and Chapters 3, 4, and 5 are here. Happy reading!
  9. There's a few new chapters out, Kersplattle. You can find them here!
  10. As far as I'm aware, I don't think there would be any problems with doing so. I'd love to hear it personally, I was out Friday night and missed it. EDIT: Scratch that, it can be found here. Enjoy everyone
  11. Wherever you saw that 600 page figure, it's inaccurate. At last count, WoR sits at 1088 pages. In fact, it's longer than The Way of Kings. Words of Radiance is as physically large as Tor's printers allow for right now. Also, welcome to the forums!
  12. I presume it's one of the lesser Soulcasters that Shallan mentions, one that can only perform a few simple transformations, in this case, stone to smoke.
  13. That person is using a Soulcasting fabrial, to the best of my knowledge.
  14. It's supposed to be posted eventually, somewhere, according to Peter, but I haven't found it yet.
  15. The name does not come from TES, it is known as the Unknown God. Both Wayne and Silence Montane reference this God Beyond.
  16. Personally, I'm going to refrain from asking any cosmere questions, because it seems like it's in poor taste to do so in a Q&A that's, from my understanding, supposed to be more about the writing craft. If I see some sign that I'm mistaken, or Brandon seems to be willing to answer any questions, I might change my mind. Also, Quantum Harmonix, this may be a tad pessimistic, but considering the fact that the actual Heb would have none of Dalinar's skill with a blade, (or rather, fire poker) he most likely was killed in that attack, or if he survived he would not have been extended the invitation to come to Urithiru.
  17. Team Sanderson is already aware of this, and will be uploading the content. I don't have an estimated time for when that will be, but it shouldn't be too long.
  18. I think that this is a good question to be asking, I've wondered it myself since I first glanced at the back of TWoK. I see three possibilities, the first was just suggested by Weiry, something I didn't come across. The others that I saw were that it's either a gem that is unique to Roshar, only formed by some process there that doesn't occur on Earth, or there is something supernatural about it. The last possibility is one I'm rather unfond of. However, we all know what happened the last time Brandon used a material not found on Earth in a magic system.
  19. A man from an unpublished work.
  20. In fact, there is. Brandon told me, and we have audio of him saying that usually Shallan just enters Shadesmar by closing her eyes, but Jasnah prefers to go physically.
  21. I'd like to see that quote. That seems unlikely to me.
  22. Lucentia has to do with crystal, I believe.
  23. Brown and tan probably, they're coated in crem.
  24. Personally, I think that the Expanse of Vibrance is indubitably Nalthis. Vapors seems to make sense for Scadrial as well.
