¡Feliz cumpleaños, Brandon!

Welcome to the forums! That was a nice catch with the Ati parallelism. Unfortunately, it's been confirmed that their is no connection. The two are even pronounced differently.

Who are the Ghostbloods? (spoilers)
Windrunner replied to Meandering Monotreme's topic in Stormlight Archive
Thaidakar is not a highprince. You're probably thinking of Thanadal, Natans, an easy confustion. -
I've seen the first two at this point, kind of. I watched the first one and enjoyed it, as they stuck fairly closely to the book. There were a few moments that felt a little cameo-ish. I didn't remember Galadriel or Sauron being in the Hobbit, but it's been a few years, so perhaps I've forgotten. I loved the flashback scenes to the fall of Erebor, I thought they were excellent. As for the second one, I have a confession to make. I totally fell asleep during it. I don't think it was the fault of the movie. I'd been waiting in the snow for six hours, and was on about four hours of sleep and coming down with a cold. But I do remember a few parts.

What's Brandon's best written accomplishment?
Windrunner replied to Ausar's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Best written is tricky. I'd definitely go for The Emperor's Soul as his best written shorter work, and The Way of Kings for his best written longer work. I'm not sure which I'd rank above the other, or if I even could. -
Thanks for confirming that Peter. I was surprised at that answer, as I'd never seen any mention of a phase of the moon. I was under the impression that it was a lot more useful for determining how late it is at night.

I agree with Cem. Perhaps it will happen, but I doubt it will in the events of the second trilogy. Especially considering that, if the pattern of technological development we've seen so far holds true, the Scadrians are rather stunted when it comes to communication.
-
Or perhaps he simply doesn't notice the bindspren. Kaladin only ever saw them once, when examining one of his full lashings extremely closely.
-
It's all good, but I think I'm gonna close this topic now. Welcome to the forums!

Personally, I thought she'd only said the First Ideal. Syl seemed to have formed a preliminary bond with Kaladin long before he became aware of the Immortal Words.
-
That thing you've got in the spoiler tag is a nice catch. I don't believe I've seen anyone mention it before.

Eshonai is now the book four flashback character. Brandon feels now that Navani may not need a flashback sequence, as hers and Dalinar's stories have a lot to do with one another.

That makes sense. But unless I'm recalling incorrectly, Prof had nothing to do with the name Limelight. It was the name David suggested. I kind of doubt that Prof ever would have even been a prominent enough Epic to have a unique name.

Quick question. Why are we calling him Limelight? I've only read the book once, but I was under the impression that David came up with a fictional name for the "fake epic" that they were creating. I'd be surprised if Prof had an epic name.

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
Windrunner replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It's wise/careful, if memory serves. -
Then I'd assume you're out of luck. I'm gonna wait for one of the numbered copies, personally.

Well, losing power like a Splinter weakens a Shard. But doing something like powering Allomancy, or Stormlight presumably, doesn't weaken a Shard because that power goes right back into it. And food is made of organics, which from our understanding (in at least Ruin and Preservation's case) were created through Shardic power, so she's probably just converting it back to what it initially was. Also, what Brandon's said about the Power of Creation seems to contradict your theory, in my opinion.
-
Wyndle is definitely the most informed person about the investitures of Roshar that we've seen so far, so I'd trust his opinion until we hear anything otherwise. This comes down to a fundamental disagreement we've had elsewhere, if I'm remembering correctly. So that I don't put words in your mouth, how would you define the power of creation?

Reactions to Ender's Game: The Movie
Windrunner replied to Shardlet's topic in Entertainment Discussion
As someone who had never got around to reading the books, I enjoyed it. Not the greatest movie I've ever seen, but I'd watch it again and I want to check out the series now. -
Peter's specifically said that Gravity and Pressure needed to be switched on their chart, which used to have Pressure with the Skybreakers. So Gravity is the shared Surge between the Skybreakers and the Windrunners.

Peter says on facebook that the third version that Tor will release eventually is much better looking.

I disagree with just about all of this. We really don't know enough about spren to speculate too far on why or why not they choose to bond with someone. Surely Kaladin is not the only person since the Recreance who is good enough to be a Windrunner? That rings false in my book. Nohadon wrote the Way of Kings, and we've received no indication that he had any abilities. (He wouldn't have belonged to an order, as he predates them) Also, I think you're looking at this in a very pessimistic light. If there's one thing that Brandon's shown us in his writing, it's the ability of the powerless or underpowered individual to make an enormous difference. Spook and Dox are great examples of this. Little or no useful battle skills, yet the world would have surely fallen without them. It's a challenge like any other. Adolin doesn't have to become a moaner. I'd like to think that he's better than that, or would become better than that. Coming to terms with his identity as the only normal person in a family chocked full of Surgebinders would be a great character arc. Sure he'd probably spend some time in self-pity. But if we're complaining about moaners, Kaladin spent quite a bit of book one moaning about people he failed to save, and I still loved the book. And if Adolin takes a darker path when confronted with his own unimportance, I'm sure it will be equally fascinating, if more painful.
