I FIXED MY GRADES AND I'M SO HAPPYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Also I'm gonna sing stuff and post it later (ALL of Already Gone, with mic--though no harms because they're autogenerated and weird)

First audition clinic for show choir in high school was today. The dance isn't HARD, it's just... we had little time so I'm a little iffy with it right now. Wish me luck!

    How are you guys doing???

  2. edit: it's the lawyers' jobs to put doubt into the mind of the jury, not necessarily prove the criminal not guilty. My bad
  3. If he lies in testimony, that is against the law. No, he can't. If he is guilty but is pleading not guilty, that's the reason for the trial. Actually a lot of criminal cases go like this: Criminal is guilty but pleads not guilty, most lawyers KNOW the client is guilty but it's their job to fight for them and prove them not guilty. So no, he can't get punished extra for pleading not guilty.
  4. Elaborate please You mean like if he lies in testimony then that is against the law but... wait is your question about pleading guilty or lying or both?
  5. It's a very good day. I haven't felt sad or anxious since Tuesday, excluding my panic attack at show choir prom. I'm currently finishing up some homework and listening to Christmas music! (Look, it snowed, and I'm feeling really good, so there.)

Yesterday I was laying on the couch and my dad randomly threw me an Oatmeal Cream Pie and it made me very very happy :D

I hope you all are having a very good day!

I haven't traumatized my character that much, but I did enjoy writing her kidnapping VERY much. Also her crying about how alone she is.

  6. I mean, technically, @CalanoCorvus, @AonEne, @Being of Cacophony... you guys can choose amongst yourselves who will be the judge. I'm not technically in charge, just an educator I said AonEne was gonna be the judge because that's what Wizzy told me.
  7. Okay. Everyone should read all of this and take notes because it'll make it a lot easier to know what's going on. So the judge (@AonEne) is basically the "president" of the court. They have the final say in things like objections. (There are four kinds of objections: relevance, prior bad acts, more prejudicial than probative, and hearsay. I'll explain those in a little bit). So, if, in the trial, an attorney was in the middle of questioning a witness and went on a rant about pizza, the other side could object for relevance. The judge could sustain that objection if it applied and the attorney would have to move on or make their point a different way. A good example of this is the courtroom scene in Legally Blonde, which I'll post below because it also has to do with cross-examination. A judge can also accept "exhibits" into evidence. If an attorney wants to give the jury evidence, they first have to ask the witness "What is this?" to which the witness will answer. But BEFORE THEY SHOW THE JURY, THEY HAVE TO tell the judge, "Your Honor, I submit Exhibit #whatevernumberexhibititis to be taken into evidence". The judge would then say, "Any objections to Exhibit #whatevernumberexhibititis?" If the other side has no objections, the judge will say "Evidence accepted," and the attorney can give the evidence to the jury to look at. If there is an objection such as more prejudicial than probative, the judge will say "Evidence denied" and the attorney cannot show the evidence to the jury or do anything else with it. Also, generally, in a real courtroom, you'd have to ask the judge for permission to approach the jury or the witnesses, but since this is online we won't have to do that. I think that's it for the judge. Feel free to jump in if you have any questions, and my DMs are always open as well!
  8. Okay! Perfect. So there's a lot of prep that has to happen before the trial actually starts. Sometimes, for really important trials (specifically criminal cases, civil cases are usually pretty quick prep-wise), it takes years to prepare. Though I seriously doubt that will be the case here Here are the roles (I'll explain what they do a little later): There's one UNBIASED judge, obviously. Each side (Defense and Prosecution) has to have at least three attorneys, and each side should have the same amount. They do a LOT of work to make sure that the trial goes smoothly and to sway the jury to their side. Each side also has to have at least three witnesses that help THEIR side of the case. The Defendant is a Defense witness. These witnesses are crucial to the process of a trial. If you don't have witnesses, you can't have a trial. You also have to have a jury. A jury usually has 12 members who know NOTHING about the case. So if you already know a lot about the case, you can't be a juror. Sorry, that's just how it works. Any questions thus far, or shall I go a little deeper into what each role does?
  9. HELLO WONDERFUL PEOPLE! Idk if you want my help BUT I know a lot about how trials work and I think we can get the best out of it if we all know what we're doing. Would you be willing to let me explain the basics of how a real court trial works?

  12. I'm not anxious today! At least not yet.

My ankle pain is really high today, but I'll deal with it because I'm just like that B) ;P (I'm just kidding xD)

We're learning about reproduction in Health (AKA watching Life's Greatest Miracle. There's a fine line between interesting and disgusting, and this movie keeps zig-zagging it).

We're also doing blackout poetry in YAL, and of course I got a book page with the perfect words on it to be a dark poem... xD.

Slavery in History, Holocaust in English, and parabolas in Algebra, which are kind of fun.

Science, though, is kind of the holy grail of actually fun schoolwork. We're making up "superhero" babies (gene mutations)! I think we're starting the project today and it's gonna be a ton of fun.

I don't have anything for the musical after school today, but I do have to stay after to retake a test. Idk why you guys would want to know any of this, but I felt like word vomiting.

Anyway, that's life right now. Mom's in Europe, and I actually kind of miss her. Just a little bit. (Only a small portion of you actually know about my mommy drama right now, but all you other people need to know is that I have a little bit of mommy drama.)

    Have a good day peoples!

  13. Good somewhat glorious morning. Why glorious? No idea. Maybe because it's just a nice word.

I could barely sleep at all last night, and I wonder if it's because my anxiety levels have been really high lately.

Anyway, I'm chilling in health class currently because it's just a chill environment--which is good for a health class (that was extremely redundant but you get the point xD).

Musical rehearsal yesterday was good--my alto 2 voice has to learn how to hit soprano 1 notes though... oh well! I'll be fine as long as I start drinking more water. And getting more sleep. And all that.

Also... we're learning about slavery and they were showing us some pictures from the mind 1800s and there was one of a slave's back after having been whipped that just made my stomach turn. It was horrific.

Anywho, on THAT note, I should skedaddle.

  14. Hullo, wonderful people. I woke up to a faceful of existential dread and was very anxious all day--though I didn't cry in choir this time.

Anyway, I like the nighttime, when I'm relaxed and have nothing to do... Can I be nocturnal please? THANK YOU!

I almost forgot it was one of my best friends' birthday today. Saved it, though.

ALSO I GOT A DRESS FOR SHOW CHOIR PROM! IT'S GREEN AND PRETTY AND LONG AND I LOVE IT AND IT HAS STORMING POCKETS. *bursts from excitement*

Anyway. Thanks for being the epic people you are! Love y'all!! Sleep good, okay :) (*cough cough* silh... wiz... *cough*)

It does, but it's due tonight and since it is a college class. The due date is the due date. Not too terribly late for me yet...well it is but I am often up this late. Thinking, writing, sometimes doing homework. Prefer to be writing though

Writing late at night is good. If you can get rid of distractions and just try to do it, that might help. Good luck!

  15. I'm so sorry, Shallan. I can kind of relate to this as my 2 year old cat passed away early 2021 from a sudden sickness. This is the best way I've ever heard anybody put the shock of somebody's death. *lots and lots of hugs* I'm really sorry and I hope that you can find peace. We all love you. <3
  16. I had to write a slam poem for English, and this is what I whipped up:

    [She]

    I can’t find you–

    Where did you go?

I’m searching and searching, but I can’t find you.

    I had you.

    I swear I had you!

And then one day I looked at a different person in the mirror–

    Instead of you, I saw…

    I saw me

    She is gone.

    She is dead.

    Who killed her?

    I did.

Not entirely sure where it came from, but it's just a short little cliche poem I thought I'd share lol.

  18. *heavily sarcastic*

    Y'all, life is fun

I apparently flunked the Algebra test, but the required reteaching is the same day and time that we have our first musical rehearsal, which I absolutely can't miss because I'm a lead but I absolutely can't miss the reteaching either so I'm either gonna fail the musical or fail Algebra, and I can't ask to do a reteaching a different time because
    1) thats unfair to my teacher's schedule
    2) it won't work for MY schedule

I also have a to-do list a million miles long and not nearly enough time to do it all. I have to write a thousand cross-examination questions and a closing statement by tomorrow, complete a late assignment for health so I don't flunk THAT either, I have a hundred things to make up for algebra including multiple pages of notes, two worksheets, and a whole dreambox lesson, I have to write a slam poem, get a lawyer outfit, and stay sane all by tomorrow

Also Haly's worrying me and my PE teacher is a creep.

Okay, I'm spiraling so I should be done.

    Bye.

  20. So.... I've been doing a lot of singing lately. And I found this song I really really love. So here you guys go.

I split it into the first verse and chorus because the bridge is kinda tricky to sing and play at the same time. I might record the whole song sometime, but not right now :)

I also-- hmm what was I going to say?

    ...

Welp, I can't remember. Oh well.

    Spoiler

Oh right. I was going to apologize for the extra... uh... I salivate a bit more when I get nervous. It's frustrating. It's not super noticeable, but it's still kind of gross so apologies :|

If I ever record the whole thing, I shall do better.

  22. So I auditioned for the musical yesterday, super last-minute. I got a callback for two of the roles. Did NOT see that coming. xD

Life's pretty regular right now, AKA kind of boring and sad and repetitive, except for the musical and a cappella.

I have this ridiculous need to be away from my house all the time... I don't know why. My family can just be difficult, I suppose.
