  1. Taln wasn't completely insensate at that point, as shown by the halting of his mantra. He would've been disoriented and out of place, but not insensate. The dart in WoR I don't remember, but you're probably right about that. The bolded line in what I quoted from you is directly contradicted by Brandon who says that Duralumin+Zinc/Brass would be stunning, at least for a normal person. You're right that it is an assumption, but I think it's a logical conclusion, and certainly one that the Ghostbloods would make. It seems like it would have at least the same effect on a Herald who have many more cracks in their psyche. for the record, if he isn't totally stunned, this almost certainly won't work. The Zane vs Vin fight is an example of this, and this WOB practically confirms it in my mind. personally, I think that if the Heralds are constantly being reborn into the aluminum maiden, no matter how thick it is, their Duralumin+Pewter level strength would be enough to break out eventually, probably even fairly quickly.
  2. this is a terrifying idea when combined with people from certain other books.
  3. yes, but I interpreted him as not being incapacitated when he actually fought back. He stopped repeating his little mantra, so I took that as a sign of him coming back mentally. if that is the case, then I think that there's a chance to do some stuff while they're somewhat incapacitated or weakened from the Riot/Soothe. it would have to be done by getting very lucky with guns or something. maybe drawing on Fortune would help? IDK how that jawn works. the answer here doesn't necessarily need to be practical. It's a herald, I don't think the Ghostbloods can "practically" kill one, especially if Nameless is wrong about either their superspeed coming from the powers of Roshar or their inability to tap into those off-world. We have to rely on more niche situations that might fail 999 times out of 1000, but succeed once.
  4. Even if it's weaker, I'd think it would be enough to temporarily stun them. Then you have to pelt them with Anti-Light, aluminum, spikes, etc. pretty much anything we even think could hurt them.
  5. I was thinking the exact same idea. Bonus points if you could put some hemalurgic spikes in them beforehand and take control of them like a koloss/kandra. Then you have a Herald on your side. It would be really hard to get the spikes in though.
  6. for the record, spren (at least Honorspren, probably others too) seem to be really good at finding things, see Syl finding milkweed as an example
  7. Ialai or some such oops. Didn't see that this had already been posted. oh well

  9. I feel like he would notice it costing extra stormlight, even if it was just a small amount
  10. I seem to recall him floating before the suppressor was turned off, or at least seeing someone mention it. Did that happen? I thought it did, but the more I think about it, the less sure I am. That could be true, I'm not sure
  11. Do you know if the Plate requires a Lashing to float or if it somehow attunes itself to it's wearer's gravity? Kal floating around Urithiru in Plate seems to imply it doesn't require a Lashing, but idk
  12. I expect it would take extra stormlight, but I don't know if it would be proportional. Lashing "aligned investiture" feels like it would be easier than lashing anything not aligned, to me at least
  13. Like they said, it's Frost, so Snowball was pretty close.
  14. yeah, I don't even know why I was looking through old posts, but then I saw this
  15. I was doing so good before I just randomly thought of this. @Frustration, you get to share my problems. did you make it a full 2 years without losing?
  16. absolutely valid name, but not quite what he's named. you're kinda close on some parts though. do you want to know? Also, reading that name the first time made me laugh, especially picturing you writing it all the way out in your notebooks every time you mention him
  17. they are all Yolish (except maybe the "old reptile", I don't recall if he's Yolish), correct. They are all from Yolen. Also, would you like to know who the "old reptile" is (at least his name), or no? He has been named, at least in a WOB, but if you don't want to know, I won't spoil it.
  18. the rate of extinction could also be caused by the fact that two societies are depending on Chasmfiends for food now, not just one, which is not entirely the Alethi's fault. We don't know if the Alethi would hunt the Chasmfiends to extinction if the Listeners weren't also hunting them.
  19. but the skaa are treated as second class citizens, not the citizenry. the "citizenry" would be the nobles, who have access to all the weapons hazekillers use. in addition, the gangs and crews in the city have access to weaponry IIRC, which dramatically increases how many skaa have access to weaponry. not about guns, those come from era 2 and are very common.
  20. we don't have a persepective for how much Adolin's changed the outside shape, but you might be right. Is there a WOB about Lightweavers changing their armor specifically I'm not aware of? true. but in era 2 scadrial, guns do seem to be readily available, more similarly to the US than anywhere else. I struggle to believe that era 3 scadrial will have readily available nukes or fighter jets. yes, my point was it's not going to be as far as you're making it out to be. It would be relatively close. Either way, the hazekillers wouldn't be armed with a fighter jet so it doesn't particularly matter. that is what it implies, but the OP implies something else. it seemed more like traditional infantry than traditional hazekillers. even if it is actual hazekillers, a giving them specialized, reasonable (readily available to citizenry) equipment like @NerdyAarakocra mentioned makes more sense than giving them the most powerful weapons and armor from their respective planet/time. I think a perpendicularity would work, not to mention 5th ideal holding a ton of Stormlight on their own, much more than any of the others, but the fighter jet isn't terribly important anyway.
  21. not 100% sure, but I believe it's stated (or at least implied) that shardplate that is aligned to a Radiant (their own living Plate) can be used simultaneously with their surges false. we see in WaT non Lightweaver Unoathed Plate adjust substantially to support Adolin's leg, as well as Kaladin's plate change shape to fit and protect some people in the Tower, including a child. it can change a significant amount. true, but I can tell you about plenty of people that have firearms. I can tell you of none that have nukes. the point was that they would have the technology commonly available to the citizenry in their books/timeframe. we've been assuming an "inside an arena" style fight, so they're not going to be 100 miles away. although you're right about tracking being an issue. because those will be the trained army/air force members, not the common citizenry, which is what we're looking for here, at least by my understanding. Requiring a lot of Stormlight is not good, but also to be expected when giving the other guy a fighter jet. this isn't canon and is pure speculation, but I feel like there's a chance that the Wind or windspren could do some funky stuff with the air. This is partially based on the scene where we see Syl kind of parting the highstorm where Kal is strung up.
  22. if the windrunner so much as touches the plane once it goes down. in addition, we still deal with the idea of why the hazekiller has that equipment. Similarly to the idea of would the hazekiller have nukes, why would they have a J-10C with PL-15s with AEW&C support? very few (if any) individuals own something like that. and I think it would be a closer fight than you're expecting. I'd have to see how fast a windrunner is actually capable of moving before coming down on either side of the issue.
