No, because being a Sliver requires a person to hold a large portion of a Shard's Investiture so that it 'stretches' their soul. The Well of Ascension had enough power built up over a thousand years, it could let you literally change the world. The normal beads of Atium? Not a chance in heck. Elend would have needed far, far more Atium than could fit in his stomach to even have a shot at becoming a Sliver in one go. Atium Savantism might lead to becoming a Sliver, if not outright Ascension. We know a Lerasium Savant will lead to Ascension but Lerasium seems special since its effects are permanent.

Which Compounding Twinborn would you LEAST like to be?
JustQuestin2004 replied to Ninth of the Night's topic in Mistborn
Honestly most types of compounding have their usefulness, because you gain allomancy and end-positive Feruchemy. I can see people saying that C-Brass sucks but I think it's alright. The one I'd least like to be is C-Aluminum. The Allomancy is pretty much useless unless you're aware of some niche use of 'purifying the spirit' or whatever. The Feruchemy also sucks because a WOB has stated that some types of compounding are less useful than others after it was brought up. Compounding you're own Identity doesn't seem like it has much use since simply storing it all away is more useful but only if you have a way to leverage that, which would require other powers. So it seems to be the only type of Compounding that cannot actually let you accomplish anything entirely on its own. -
Yep, it was a mistake that was fixed later. You can see it on the Pewter page on the Coppermind.

[SA5] What are the words (For Gavilar and Dalinar)?
JustQuestin2004 replied to Mayalaran's question in Cosmere Q&A
I'm pretty sure it's just the Immortal Words, it's just that Gavilar, a man who has lied and cheated and has no understanding of real honor, can say all the words he wants, but it's not enough to say them you have to mean them, which he doesn't. -
Nicrosil plus gold...what would they see!?
JustQuestin2004 replied to Lewis Nethur's question in Cosmere Q&A
Or maybe it'll just break your brain. -
Been thinking about how other metals affect the Spores. We know Silver kills them, Aluminum shields them, Steels makes them grow away it and Iron makes them grow to it. So let's try to extrapolate how others metals could affect them. Pewter: Makes them grow faster Tin: Makes them grow slower Bronze: Makes them easier to control with thoughts and Commands. Copper: Makes them harder to control with thoughts and Commands.

new WoBs & excerpts, new theories?
JustQuestin2004 replied to MerlinArcane's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The recreation of an Honorspren Navy with Naval battles against the Voidspren sounds pretty tight. Especially with Notum at the head of it. As for the Shallan plotline specifically, with the reveal that BAM's gemstone has been placed within the Spiritual Realm, Shallan will be needing to find a way there, which will require the aid of either a Bondsmith or a Perpendicularity. Then figuring out how to find a gemstone in a place where space doesn't exist, meaning said Gemstone is 'everywhere and nowhere'. But I assume Shallan's Fortune ability might help with that as has been foreshadowed. All the while the Ghostbloods try to kill her and get BAM themselves, which will probably lead to the Ghostbloods becoming the enemies of the Knights Radiant and being kicked out of Urithiru and losing any potential access to the Oathgates at all, which was shown to be a goal of theirs with their negotiations with the Fused in ROW. Which will probably sour any relations that Roshar could have with Scadrial. -
Emberdark Theory: Ambition was Splintered in Space
JustQuestin2004 replied to JustQuestin2004's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Not quite, Odium had Ambition as number 1 on his hit-list but found Devotion and Dominion first. After somehow killing both of them he stuffed the bulk of their Investiture into the Cognitive Realm, which formed the Dor as he attempted to make it so no one could Ascend with them. He found Ambition afterwards near Threnody. They and Mercy fought there which is why Threnody is super messed up.- 6 replies

After reading the summary for Emberdark, specifically the 'destructive echo of a dead god' part and the CE2E WOBs confirming that a Splinter of Ambition will be that echo. We also know that Ambition was wounded in the Threnody System but fled and was Splintered elsewhere. We also know that she is 'technically not on a planet'. The titular 'Emberdark' is the parts of the Cognitive Realm that represent the void of space. So my theory is that Ambition was splintered in the depths of space instead of on a planet like others. Which is how this 'Echo' will be part of the plot, since I doubt that the protagonists will be paying a visit to Threnody. Now this will be interesting to contemplate because I have no idea what would happen if a Shard was Splintered in space away from any System or world to Invest in, would the Investiture just stay stuck in the Spiritual Realm? Would it stay together or drift apart? Would it have some effect on the Physical Realm like creating a star or some other type of weirdness? Would the Splinters not be bound by any world like most others would be? Could Odium have intentionally Splintered Ambition off-world to make sure no one could take up the Shard and Ascend? It makes sense, he could have learned from killing Devotion and Dominion and have tried a different method.

What are your thought on the new leaked SA5 chapter-
JustQuestin2004 replied to Sythrin's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Thinking more on this, TOdium will probably be doing whatever he can to prevent the circumstances that led to Rayse's death from ever happening again, like keeping a very close eye on Nightblood's location at all times or trying to seize him to make use of him. He'd definitely keep a close eye of Sja-Anat since she had a very big part in causing Rayse's death with luring him to Taravangian with corrupted Windspren and corrupting the Mistspren that Bonded Renarin, who is a blindspot that messes up his future vision so he wouldn't see it all coming. Actually I wonder if Sja-Anat will sell out Renarin and keep Rlain's Bonding another corrupted Mistspren a secret? Her philosophy is 'sacrifice one child to protect others' and TOdium shouldn't know that Rlain will be a new blindspot for him, which might throw a wrench in his plan for the Contest. Although TOdium could also do the smart thing and compromise with Sja-Anat to help ensure her loyalty, promising her a home for herself and independence so long as they win the war. Plus I don't think TOdium will know how to Unmake a Spren right away as that seems sort of advanced since Rayse only Unmade 9 Spren into the, you know, the 9 Unmade. Though with Cultivation teaching him that could change very quickly. -
I assume you're talking about the new preview chapters of Wind and Truth? You appear to be under a slight misconception.

What are your thought on the new leaked SA5 chapter-
JustQuestin2004 replied to Sythrin's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Maybe she wasn't just forming Connections with the Singers, what if she was trying to form Connections with everything on Roshar? Forming powerful enough Connections in some dangerous gambit to control all of Roshar and everyone on it, only for it to completely blow up in her face. I don't know how else she'd be able to destroy Roshar by just empowering the Singers. Sealing her caused a 'wound' to Roshar, so maybe by the time that she was sealed Mishram had managed to become a literal part of Roshar through reckless abuse of Connection BS? -

JustQuestin2004 replied to Sythrin's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Oh yeah, taking back control of Shadesmar from the Voidbringers will be especially important since both sides now have Anti-Lights, meaning that letting the Fused have control over Spren Cities means that they will probably begin mass producing Anti-Stormlight and start mass murdering Spren as soon as possible, which might cause more Spren to bond with humans to avoid dying, or maybe just fighting back and adding a literal second dimension to the war. Also the confirmation, not a huge one but still, that Mishram hates humans. This pretty much solidifies that if she gets free she'll be going straight back to Odium, unless she realizes that there's a new Vessel and maybe starts a rebellion? Or maybe spending thousands of years locked inside a cramped little crystal will have given her a new perspective on life, maybe more appreciation for being free. I'm wondering if it was specifically imprisoning her in the SR that caused such wide-reaching effects, since it is 'everywhere and nowhere'. -

JustQuestin2004 replied to Sythrin's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Something I found interesting was Kelek talking about the forbiddance of someone bonding two spren long ago, why was that the case? To stop people from trying to bond them all? As for Mishram, her being in the SR is genius because she is literally everywhere and nowhere at the same time. I wonder if Melishi just opened a Perpendicularity, Intended to go to the SR instead of Shadesmar and just chucked the Perfect Heliodor through. It also explains what Dalinar and/or Navani will be doing since getting Mishram will probably require the aid of a Bondsmith. -
Discuss the Stormlight 5 Prologue Here
JustQuestin2004 replied to LewsTherinTelescope's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Quick question, can we talk about any of the other Stormlight 5 preview chapters or is there another place, because Brandon dropped another one and I would love to talk about it. -
Well we know that 'Atium' in Era 1 was an alloy of Electrum and Atium, Malatium is the gold alloy. So that's half the temporal metals. As for Cadmium and Bendalloy? No clue whatsoever.

Autonomy will certainly be back as Trell again, but since people will be far more aware of her existence and meddling I think she might have to ditch the stealth approach since it didn't really work out in Era 2. She'll probably do her best to cause major destruction to Scadrial, as is her goal in TLM, which will probably involve coaxing the Basin and Malwish into a 'nuclear' war with the Trellium/Harmonium nukes. It is meant to be a 'Cold War Spy Thriller' after all. Maybe she'll bargain with the Malwish by pretending to be their gods and goad them into trying to 'exterminate those filthy northerners'.
-
You know your not wrong. Maybe Autonomy is using misdirection and playing the long game. Giving Harmony and those allied with him an obvious target, the Set and Trell, all the while slowly corrupting a pre-existing religion that has become the most prevalent to her own ends. Sounds almost poetic, the religion created by Kelsier to give the Skaa hope and the will to rebel against tyranny, becoming slowly corrupted by a tyrant far worse than the Lord Ruler to control the masses. What would you pick as your secret security phrase
JustQuestin2004 replied to Highprince10's topic in Warbreaker
Bubblegum Belching Basin, no one would ever expect it. -
Oh, I love this question! I only have 4 solid ideas though. Atium/Iron: Slows down metal, like a more localized and mobile time bubble that wraps around a single piece of metal, making it move slower. Useful for making temporary platforms to jump on. Atium/Steel: Speeds up metal, same as above only instead of slowing down a piece of metal, it speeds it up. Doesn't extend how far a piece of metal can be thrown, only how fast they go. Useful for enhancing the speed of steelpushes for near-instantaneous attacks. Atium/Tin: Pulls your senses back in time, the world seems to rewind as you burn it. Flaring speeds up the rate of rewinding. Useful for investigations. Atium/Pewter: Pushes wounds into the future, a very risky form of invincibility as while it is burned any wounds you take instantly vanish, until you stop burning this alloy which causes all wounds that vanished to immediately appear. Cannot work on wounds from before you burned the alloy, only wounds taken during. Burns really fast.

Evidence for potential SA5 character death?
JustQuestin2004 replied to BlueWildRye's topic in Stormlight Archive
His death has been brought up before, Dalinar nearly killed him by forcing him to be a Blade to use an Oathgate in Oathbringer, this was brought up again in ROW during Adolin's Trial. Rayse wanted to kill the Stormfather but couldn't risk doing it because of Cultivation potentially using that momentary distraction to kill him in turn, but now Odium has a new Vessel being personally taught by Cultivation, so TOdium might just be in the perfect position to both kill the Stormfather and deal a wound to Cultivation to even them out. Not to mention there is a rather ominous Death Rattle about Light fading: -
Ramblings about technology in Era 4
JustQuestin2004 replied to Dofurion's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I would love to refute some of this, but I can't. You've given me some stuff to ponder, so thanks. Anyway, what other Era 4 tech could there be? I haven't seen much talk about Sel so I'll start. The possibilities for AonDor are effectively endless, with the caveat that it'd need to be created and operated by Elantrians. I could see Aon Tia being used for a one-way teleport to other worlds once they figure out coordinates for off-world stuff, although that wouldn't be super useful unless they could set up something on the other side to send things back. But we have seen Elantrians use their powers off of Sel so that's still a possibility, likely extremely complex, but possible. For Forgery I could see more accessible education being very useful, imagine if you could give yourself diploma-level skills in any academic study whenever you want, since the more easy education is to acquire like public university, the more plausible you could make the Essence Marks. Or maybe Universal Soulstamps will become more common, we've already see Shai do some impressive stuff like make doors through walls, so there's quite a bit of potential there. Honestly I'm pretty happy Universal Soulstamps are a thing, so a Forger can use their powers a bit more freely instead of needing to take hours or even days of study just to change a single thing. For other Selish Arts, well we haven't really seen all that much yet. That'll probably change within the next decade. -
Ramblings about technology in Era 4
JustQuestin2004 replied to Dofurion's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I dunno, Marsh just sounded so sure... TLM Chapter 28 Like, this doesn't sound like someone who doesn't know what they're talking about. Marsh sounds really sure and really relieved. As for Harmony keeping stuff secret, he's been explicitly lying to Kelsier about making Lerasium. He probably trusts Marsh more then Kel, since if Kel had access to all this knowledge, he'd become an even bigger wildcard for the Cosmere than he already is, could you imagine if the Ghostbloods on Roshar has access to Lerasium and Atium? Not very Harmonious. Marsh though, is pratically Harmony's hands, for when Harmony needs important stuff done. He has been for centuries. Heck in BOM he let slip about advanced technology to the Kandra, what makes you think he hasn't let slip about Hemlaurgy to Marsh? Especially if it's meant to help him save the world. Sounds plausible. Heck you might be able to make this easier by just taking one spike and splitting it up into 4-5, maybe even more depending on if drained spikes still stick to that same limit. Stick 5 Pathian earrings into someone then control them. Compounders can indeed be game-breaking, there's no getting around that, C-Steel alone is ridiculous. But as shown with Miles, they aren't unbeatable just tough to bring down. Plus not every type of Compounder is going to be OP, C-Cadmium for instance. As for the second part, I wasn't really thinking of societal. Since this is probably the kind of thing anyone would prefer to keep to themselves for the advantage. But if it did, you'd need to remember that Metalborn are still rare, and in the Terris Village there was only one Steelrunner who Bleeder killed. So if someone wanted to do this they'd need to find and kidnap a Misting and Ferring who match metals, then go through a difficult cumbersome process to forcibly blank their Identity so that the Spikes become Unkeyed, preventing identity contamination. If it became public knowledge, then most Metalborn would probably just hide their powers if it ever became a trend to hunt metalborn. Overall what you prescribe would need Hemalurgy to become public knowledge, which sounds like a whole other can of worms, the idea of gaining 1/16 of the power the Lord Ruler had would just be putting chum in the waters. -
Ramblings about technology in Era 4
JustQuestin2004 replied to Dofurion's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Probably not, but Sazed knows pretty much all there is to know, and Marsh has been his top agent for centuries so if I was going to bet on anyone who was going to be aware of it, Marsh would be near the top of that list just due to proximity. Khriss isn't in direct contact with Harmony, she isn't omniscient so she wouldn't know everything about it. She had an interview with Marsh so she could learn more. I do agree though, even if we're unlikely to see another Lord Ruler, even just normal Compounding with the right metals would be pushing it. But I do think it'd be rare for the simple fact that you'd need your 'donor' to be somehow blanking their Identity while they are spiked to death. Since the Set were mostly limited to Scadrian resources and had no access to off-world Magic Systems, would require either a spike or medallion that had Feruchemical Aluminum, both of which would be difficult to get. Which would require the 'donor' to willingly store away their entire Identity even while dying. Which would be made even harder if the donor was an unwilling kidnapped victim. So yeah I agree it'd be pretty rare for this to happen, just by using Scadrian methods. Unless Harmonium can be used to forcibly Blank other people's Identity which is just pure speculation. It kind of is, since if you split that same spike and shared it with someone else, you wouldn't e able to tap their metalminds since their own Identity 'muddles' the Spikes.
