    I think the only metal that we know they certainly had access to is pewter, and for the rest of them I'm just guessing. I would assume that they would have access to the base eight metals. I'm pretty sure most of those metals are easy to produce Some of them might require more advanced technology that the final empire eventually provided, but that would require further research. They certainly wouldn't have Lerasium and I would think they wouldn't have access to atium. Atium is very hard to find and since no one can burn the metal it holds little to no value. Feruchemey seems to stay within the borders of Terris and no one outside seems to have a good knowledge of it. So I don't think anyone would go out of there way to find Atium and give it to Feruchemists.

    Quest grimaced. "Sorry, that was a bad explanation. When you have to draw a rune circle beforehand that takes time and planning, very little adaptability. But, what I'm proposing is what if I could draw runes on air or surfaces with magic. If that was possible it would allow for the energy to act as both the runes and the power source, and with practice it could be drawn in a fraction of what writing a rune circle takes." Quest frowned. "The only problem is that actually doing this would be extremely hard and possibly dangerous. And this is all theoretical."

    "Ah! Well, I've had a theory I want to run by you." Quest fumbled through his satchel and came up with a rune circle he had made. "So right now I am making rune circles with ink as a median, and then running the magic through the runes. The runes direct and command the magic. But, then I had an idea. What if we take away the middle man? What if instead of moving magic through pre-made runes, I made magic in the shape of runes!"

    Quest nodded, "Yeah, it's pretty amazing. Oh, um Vance? Your good at.." Quest wiggled his fingers mystically, "magic stuff, right?"

    Yes, she would be a solid Vin. Definitely has the right look. Slight note though, we already have a thread dedicated to discussing mistborn casting, in the Mistborn Movie Casting thread. Which can be found at the top of the Mistborn topics.

    "Ah, um, yes. If you go out the back there I found a patch of...something. I haven't found time to document them yet and don't have a proper name. They taste alright though." "Yes, um, I think some have countermeasures and I have postponed disabling those. I'm going through non essential ones like these, and leaving all the rune circles that provide functions like lighting and heating."

    Quest smiled, "That's wonderful! Do you-" Quest trailed off noticing how Vance was working on the runes. "Oh, sorry. Let me get that for you." Quest pulled a knife out of his satchel and after examining the rune circle for a moment, he cut across a rune near the top of the circle. The rune circle quickly dimmed as it began to lose power. Quest grinned at Vance, "I just figured out how to disable the circles." "Didn't you guys just go hunting? Unless you want my lovely vegetables outside, I think that's your food." Quest said, pushing up his glasses.

    Quest was working on some rune circles when he noticed that Vance had walked into the house. "Vance!" he called out. Quest began to walk over. "How is the training with Kealie going?"

    I think it made more sense for the arc to be centered around Elhokar for a couple of reasons. Firstly, because Elhokar is the center of conflict both Moash and Kaladin can want to kill him. If Kaladin's arc revolved around trying to assassinate Amaram, Moash probably wouldn't have been interested and then that whole plot thread that made the climax so epic would never have happened. In WoR we can see how Kaladin agrees to relucent assassination and then goes against his friends to do what is right. That is much more powerful because Moash is trying to tempt him into helping kill Elhokar. If the target was Amaram, Kaladin would have to be the one actively going after him because neither Moash or Graves would care. Also, Amaram is actively doing bad things and being a jerk and Elhokar is just bad at his job. Elhokar wants to change to improve whereas Amaram is dead set on his path and has committed terrible crimes. Elhokar has gone out of his way to try and become a better leader, in a bad way, but he has still shown he wants to improve. Amaram has actually done awful stuff and deserves punishment. There is a difference between forgiving someone and letting a murderer go free, at some point people are beyond protection.

    I actually very much enjoyed the plot and characters. The reason I stopped reading the book for a few weeks was just Brandon's emphasis on sex. Since I had just gotten into adult novels I was trying to avoid all that, and I was really happy to find Brandon who was a "clean author". I thought he would be better and was quite disappointed with the content in this book. But when I picked it up again I found I quite enjoyed the book itself.

    Miyako looked over to Hyron and Yerik. "Yeah, we'll go see what ya got going on there. We're not doing much else."

    "How can we trust you?"

    Miyako straightened, a bit of her old swagger returning. "You wouldn't be calling us friends. What's it to you?"

    Miyako drew her arm back to hit Hyron when the voice spoke. "Hold." Miyako whirled around, Hyron momentarily forgotten, trying to find the voice. Her hand rested on her sword as she twisted her head, looking for the source of the sound.

    That feels overly self deprecating. (It feels weird to say this but) I'm sure your very cute. Have some self confidence and all that! As for myself I would say I'm like a 5 on the cute scale. If it was like a handsomeness scale or something I might be higher but I do not usually define myself as "cute".

    Miyako stood there watching as Yerik walked over to Hyron. Eventually she walked over to the two, fuming. Miyako grumbled unintelligibly and pulled her hat down across her face.

    Miyako began walking in a random direction. She didn't look behind as she strode into the forest, trying to look confident. Tides, it was weird to have people following her. She had been on her own, for....a long time now.

    Kelsier easily. Even though Era 1 has a lot of great characters I think Kelsier is my favorite. He has a very interesting backstory that leads into complex motivations and actions. Seeing him as Vin's mentor and father figure, the leader of the rebellion, and a murderous assassin just gives so much depth to his character. The moment where he died at the end of mistborn, during my first Brandon book was simply insane. And all the character development in secret history is all so fascinating and compelling. Kelsier is the best, even though I can't articulate it very well.

    Miyako nodded, grinning at Hyron. Tides, there magic was awesome. Miyako shouldered her backpack and adjusted her hat. Time to go live in the woods. "Let's go."

    "We got to cover the carriage. Make it harder to track us." Miyako turned to Hyron, "Viney, that's your job."
