  1. I was thinking about how to do that. I also was thinking about how to incoporate the fact that shards can make planets. Any ideas? @Shining Silhouette
  2. So as of now for the gameplay we have this. The game starts after the shattering. Each person takes a card that states what shard they have. There wont usually be 16 players but i think you would need at least 3 player. Each player rolls a die to see how well their vessel fits the shards intent.(in the real cosmere Ati and Ruins intents dont align well so this would affect the efficiency of the shard) This isnt really important it just lets you have your turn order. This starts the Beggining Phase. Going in order of whover rolled dice highest to lowest. The Begining Phase has turns in which each player does one action. I will come up with how to use those actions soon @Shining Silhouette
  3. Hi! I enjoy, and over the past few years have gotten decent at art. I am mostly self taught. And most of that teaching has come in the form of classroom doodles. I had a fantastic drawing of the main mistborn characters but I lost it in some schoolwork folder. Might post it if I find it. I can do pencil and paper drawings OK though most of my skill lies in drawing maps. Dragons are a specialty though as they have always been a passion of mine. (I loved stories about knights and dragons as a little kid, and always wanted to draw them. I will take requests though I wouldnt count on skill. If you need a map of a world that you have come up with, or just a generic fantasy map then im your guy. I have always looked up to the styles of N.C Wyeth and Howard Pyle. (the kind of woodcarved printings that you find in old books about knights). Below is a grainy photo of a sketch i did of Kaladn and Shallan in the chasms, kaladin is the one fighting the chasmfeind while shallan watches) I will ink it over soon
  4. So lets lay out the intent cards and their abilities Honor= bound to promises they make other players(the other players are only held by shardic oaths) so if honor says i will help you with this, he has to do it. Honor starts the game with a super invested magic system and gets points by restricing the magic system so he can get his investiture back Preservation = chooses a planet and gets points by ensuring it develops as much as possible. Preservation cannot attack planets, only defend. He can also give away a large chunk of investiture to help his planet devolop faster(I get this wasnt how the well of asencion worked out but it works better as a mecanic here Ruin = gets points through destroying planets. Can help development but gets no points for it. Odium = gets huge point boost for shattering shards, can corrupt other players cards to evil(like with surgebinding) I have less odium ideas Dominion = gets points for the reach of his peoples empire. So once they conquer the planet its how many planets his empire inhabits Devotion = pick another shard. You now are Devoted to that shard. You are on a team and have the same win condition. Cultivation = upgrade the magic of the planet as much as possible. no abilty to discard.(they have to cultivate) Ambition = IDK Autonomy = make lots of avatars, cannot cooperate with other players IDK for the other shards. Hoid gets to steal magic
  5. So. I was talking with @Shining Silhouette on another topic. I thought I should dedicate a page to it
  6. Okay so imagine a game where you are shards trying to make magic systems. You want to have restrictions or you give away to much of yourself but you also want it to be powerful. You get a card at the start with your intent and try to make magic that fulfills that. I find it so cool to imagine every player leaving yolen, choosing a planet, changing it, ect. You could porbably draw cards like(genetic inheritance, Spren bond, Cognative shadows) If you took up 2 shards you would get more powerful but have twice as many intents. Hoid would be a wild card thing(like the robber in catan) who messes things up
  7. Even before, I get that they are bad guys, but their asthetic is sick.
  8. I know. Like who went "oh i guess this meat fell from the sky I guess ill taste it) Like WHY!
  9. Brandon has said he is considering making a girl who looked up board book We are probably working with a limit of 20 or so pages of board. I dont think this exists currenty on the market, but we might be able to help get a layout that you could submit to somewhere that prints customizable board books
  10. Ohh no. Heck no. It isnt that I dont think the premice of a silmarilian tv show is bad. It's just so hypocrytical to have amazon do it. Amazon's problem seems to be that it thinks that by making it's movies more progressive it can make up for it's nasty workplace. On some of the previous issues, I am fine with a black character. I am fine with adressing racism. I am not fine with taking a white character and making their whole plotline become black them dealing with racism. Having a new black character deal with it is fine. But taking a charachter and changing them isnt. For once, just once I want a movie where a character is black and the movie doesnt adress it. Like casting a main character a black but rather than going"hey look how progressive we are" just not talking about it and letting them play the role.
  11. Wait the whole thing?
  12. Perception When an insects merry dance Becomes the fae folks revel And when a distant thunder's rumble seems a dragons roar When a tired bycicle becomes a mighty griffon Then a nearby fallen branch appears a mighty sword When the closet dark at night can hide unspoken horrors. And when a barking neighborhood dog becomes a foul beast Then the world seems full of wonder behind every corner And who'se to say a childs exited stories arent the truth The basis for this was that I was a very immaginative little kid. I was recently told that when I first saw a mall I thought it was a castle
  13. Maybe you could do something where somebody wakes up from a cryosleep and finds the world diferent in that nobody shows emotion. He is confused and seeks answers and eventually learns that earth was conquered by another species and the emotionless beings that he had took for humans, had actually killed all the humans exept him.
  14. I always thought it was more of a star wars rip off but yeah. To be fair The Eye Of the World is also a tolkien ripoff. The eragon movie tho....
  15. Thank you so much! I really apreciate the feedback. I intentionally didnt include particularly archaic words. However I can see that the wording is a little bit clunky. My particular pattern in writing poetry is musical. For almost every poem I read or write, my head generates a tune that it could go along with. Because of this, I tend to go out of my way to make the verses rhyme. This poem was a combination of the bird that I had seen, and a particular mournful tune that my head had thought fit it. This wasnt something I heard, just a melody that seeing the bird had sparked. Part of why I see the world through such a music foucsed lens is my synesthesia. Images have sounds, tunes, songs. I actually found Brandon's portrayal of the singers and their tunes to be relatively accurate. It isnt that i hum like that when I talk or anything but moreso that my brain doesn't have the same block between sound and external factors many people do. I dont like hear music in my head when I see a painting but I do know what melody would fit it. The same applies to me for numbers, emotions, and events. They have a song, or color that can be found. I am experienced in writing songs to describe things that I see but am still pretty new to poetry. Thus when I started my poem I already had a tune, rhyming pattern, and sound in my head. This restricted me from leaving rhyming patterns as it felt wrong to leave them. Thanks for reading through my ramble and for critquing my poetry. I really appreciate it!
  16. Within the bleakness of the night A lonley swallow does take flight still searching heart lurching and as it rises it does sing throughout the darkness echoes ring still soaring exploring The swallow dives unto the ground I know it's quarry it has found Prey squirming returning The bird returns to empty nest with food fetched at dead chicks behest still waiting deflating For predators they killed her chicks And left their empty bed of stick denying still flying This is a poem I just composed about a bird by our house. A few weeks ago her chicks were killed by an owl. However, whenever she goes hunting, she leaves a worm like she used to. Food for her dead children
  17. Here, just thought this might be fun. This is a thread for posting recommendations for board/video games that have mechanics or themes that might appeal to sanderfans. (they dont have to be cosmere themed games) and potentially brainstorming fan games. Board game recomendation, Lotr Lcg Video game reccomendation, Dwarf fortress(its free and what it lacks in graphics it makes up for in scale. It has extremely intracate systems and the like for your more mechanics foucused players, and some of the best story aspects for story players. It is a sandbox game and is free) Board game idea. (some credit to manywar sanderson elimination) A card game with breaths as currency. So like how magic uses its currency you use breaths instead. You could discard a card to research something now avalible to all players. You all play as one of the 5 scholars and whoever makes nightblood first wins.
  18. Just gonna drop this here. "meat fell from the sky" https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/running-ponies/the-great-kentucky-meat-shower-mystery-unwound-by-projectile-vulture-vomit/
  19. Punic war era( it was a war between republican rome and carthage, https://warfarehistorynetwork.com/hannibal-and-the-second-punic-war/ should be a decent starting point in his time, Gallileo's theory was unfounded, and thus talking about it being repressed is stupid as there was no proof the world revolved around the sun. It's like somebody today saying "hey, what is asteroids were caused by aliens" It could theoretically be true but not necissarily. Also people knew the earth was round all the way back in Ancient Greece. Pretty much nobody in the middle ages thought the world was flat. I do like historical rps and one of my favorites now is the mouse guard game Im not a huge science guy but I do have a soft spot for neurology Kentucky meat shower https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/running-ponies/the-great-kentucky-meat-shower-mystery-unwound-by-projectile-vulture-vomit/ "meat fell from the sky" I did once see a parent trying to fish her child out of the rubber ball area. Yknow, where they keep all of the sports balls, It was a big one and the kid decided to get in. Also onece saw somebody check out 20 cans of lard and nothing else. He said that it was healthy for him.
  20. Welcome to the shard! Wait I have somebody who will appreciate your poll @SymphonianBookworm
  21. My main fear in this would be the fandom being obliterated. It is pretty rare that a fandom this big is relatively wholesome and chill. I worry thousands of new people would have a negative effect on it. On top of this, I cant think of any adaptations where the intense fans like them. The cosmere is so big and complex and the magic so intracate that im afraid we would get something like the Wheel Of Time adaptation where all the money went into bad cgi. Mistborn sounds great but how could you effectively show what is going on with burning duralumin, pewter, tin, emotional allomancy. It is really hard to show a character having enhanced senses. I cant imagine a way to adapt these things that would leave all parties satisfied. On top of it all, there always seems to be a huge debaucle about the author and the movie starts representing a community. Film adaptations never work. They get us exited and then they either break our hearts for being bad or make a mess of the fandom.
