  1. "Hm." He shrugged. "I didn't see him there, but maybe he got up before me. Let me know if you need me to track him down at some point today."
  2. "That's good." Tinker sat down and put a little food on his plate. He looked around the room, and then turned to Crocus. "Where's Meron?"
  3. Tinker smiled. "Hey, Lily. How's it going?"
  4. "Um..." He considered telling her he'd already eaten at his parent's house, but decided against it. "Sure."
  5. Tinker smiled. He could always count on his future mother-in-law to be a kind face. "Good to see you, Crocus. ...Is Marewill up yet?"
  6. Tinker didn't watch the games that morning. He didn't want to. Maybe that made him weak. Maybe it made him a hypocrite, for wanting to help children like those, but being unwilling to watch their plight. That possibility gnawed at him, the same way his inability to participate in the war did. Even after snapping as a Mistborn, even has his parents and younger sister went off to fight the old Capitol's armies...he stayed home. Most people didn't blame him. "He's been through enough," they said. "His place is here." That didn't mean he didn't blame himself. Instead of staying in the watching room of his parent's house, he went to talk with Marewill. Walking through the streets of Moongaze to the house where she lived, he marveled at how the once destitute settlement had become a bustling center of construction and life, all in the space of six years. Their house would soon join the many already built. They'd already picked a spot, on a hill overlooking the city. He fingered his engagement ring. Please don't get too mad at me, Mare, but we need to talk about this. Somewhat hesitantly -- why am I hesitating? We're engaged. I should be able to talk to her. -- he knocked on the door. @Spark of Hope
  7. know I already made an SU about this RP idea, but I need to gauge interest to see if it's even worth attempting.

IF YOU ARE READING THIS AND WOULD BE INTERESTED IN A 1920'S INSPIRED MISTBORN ERA 2 RP, PLEASE RESPOND OR OTHERWISE ACKNOWLEDGE THIS SU.

And if no one says anything again, I'll just wait for the current RP mess to die down.

It's just been a while since we had an RP all planned out, like the ones Fadran used to do. I feel like all the successful RPs lately have just been someone posting on a whim with no idea of where it's going to go, and other people joining in. (Besides HG, of course, but those all follow an outline.) They're awesome, but they all feel kind of the same.

It's also been forever since an RP that actually happened in the Cosmere.

...Actually I don't know if I've ever participated in an RP that was at least Cosmere-canon-adjacent.

...My brain is saying "Hey, Bookwyrm, you've got two people on board! Go ahead! It's going to be awesome! Here are a bunch of character ideas!"

And the other part of my brain is saying "Patience..."

And the first part just keeps going...

  8. Idea for an RP:

On Scadrial, after the events of TLM, Basin society develops into an economic and cultural state similar to that of the roaring twenties in our own world. Some social norms are relaxed and an age of prosperity comes to almost all, but especially the rich.

However, hoping to avoid further crime surges such as that of the Set in decades prior, (and in preparation for possible conflict with the South) Elendel's government passes laws that restrict the distribution of certain goods such as weapons, allomantically viable metals, and liquor. This serves a similar purpose to the prohibition era.

While many people take these changes in stride, others are... dissatisfied. An underground market starts to form in Elendel and the surrounding basin, one that penetrates even the upper reaches of the nobility.

The RP would center around the characters entangled in this semi-illegal dance of business, intrigue, action, and espionage, and how they live their lives in a changing world where supposed "freedom" from legal restrictions sometimes brings chains of it's own, and where great risks are taken at the prospect of great reward.

    Spoiler

Totally not inspired by that one webcomic I didn't think I'd get super into...

I do have a few other RP ideas, one that happens on Earth in the 1920's or 30's with a VERY different plot, one that involves supernatural horror-esque stuff in the modern age, and one that involves the crew of an interstellar exploration vessel.

    Spoiler

Yes, that is a reference, no, don't freak out too much.

I've been in St. Louis for the last four or five days, which is why I've been inactive. (Sorry, HG people.) Today is the long drive home so hopefully I'll be more active in the next few days.

I'll probably make a longer SU later with some photos. And also talk about the huge board game I bought.

    So yeah.

(Also, I've had fun reading the SU's that have come up the last few days. You guys are fun people.)

  12. As you near the peak of the island, a fairly large pool of clear water comes into view, surround by tropical trees and plants. Several rivers run from it's borders in different directions.
  13. "Find the spring at the highest point of the island, and follow the second widest stream to the ocean. Then follow the beach to the right until you find a grotto. There's a little gift from me there. "I only have one condition: Survive. If you make it as far as the grotto, I may make another request. But let's cross that bridge when we come to it. "You are allowed to take any allies you have with you, but be warned; there isn't any way out for you this time, like you so kindly helped provide for the participants in the last games. Only one person can make it out of here alive. Choose wisely." The communication cut off.
  14. Ma'tani looked at them in pity, but didn't say anything. Best to leave them alone at a time like this. "Whenever you're ready," she said to them.
  15. "Of course." "Now, while the rest of my coworkers are playing it safe. They find the tributes that have proven themselves to their twisted minds and give them rewards. However, I am a businessman. And quite a successful one, at that. And in business, you can't wait until a prospect proves itself to invest in it. You have to use intuition. "And my intuition says it's worth investing in you. Call it a petty competition with the others. A chance to prove that rewarding wanton murder isn't necessarily the way to play things."
  16. Forrest grinned. "Forgive me, but it's refreshing to have someone talk to me this way. It's been years. "Regardless...I have a personal interest in your history. The raids of your organization cost the old Capitol - and my business - a lot during the war. One would imagine you'd be living a life of peace in the Crescent, now, but here you are, in the deepest parts of the new Capitol's clutches. "Not to mention the spike you have..."
  17. Milay turned to Tinker after hearing the raised voices. "She still not over it?" Tinker closed his eyes. "Not completely, no. I've tried to help her, but..." he sighed. "The times under the old Capitol were hard for us all." "We didn't lose a parent to murder." "We lost a sister to disease, and the Capitol might as well have murdered her." "Still. Her situation is far different. We freed ourselves from the source of our hate. We got our revenge. She feels like she still needs it." Tinker gazed sadly down the stairs towards the dining area. "Maybe..." @Spark of Hope
  18. "The other Gamemakers are rewarding violence with supplies, Aviar, and whatnot. And of course they are. They're bloodthirsty sadists who think this burgeoning country needs pure violence to solve it's problems. "Of course, violence is what led to its necessity in the first place...but you'd know that better than anyone, wouldn't you, Sharlin of The House?"
