  1. No worries. There will be more in the future, so feel free to spectate and learn how we do things. Hope to see you down the line!
  2. @Glosss, are you going to make a character?
  3. Wait, it's your birthday?

    And I almost missed it?!

    Happy birthday!

it's yours for bringing up a game

  4. ...Stupid autocorrect. Sign ups end tomorrow, games start Monday. I'm going to reiterate this in the OP of the actual thread, but I'm going to make it so if you miss the initial burst of activity, you can still participate. I'm going to assume that the characters of people who can't RP then are just hanging out in the jungle of the starting island. Because honestly it's not fair for the people who are unavailable right when it starts.
  5. Yeah, you still have all of tomorrow. I noticed that you haven't read any of Sanderson's stuff yet, so let me or the other GMs know if you have magic/worldbuilding questions. This is also part of a longer overarching story, so if you're confused about any of that, too, just let us know. Glad to have another player!
  6. Ma'tani met Jolane's eyes. "It's your choice, Jolane. But that means you have to choose."
  7. Ma'tani nodded. "That would work."
  8. "We can't control our pasts," Ma'tani said. "Though it would have been very nice to know this was an issue. Please be more transparent in the future." Ma'tani took some of the ointment and applied it to the wound on her lower leg before wrapping it in a bandage. "Our best chance is to just leave, and make sure it's clear that we did. I don't want to disrupt these peoples' lives any more than we already have. "The city Truehearth is a couple days north of here. If we head there, and aren't too discrete about it, maybe they'll chase us and leave this place alone."
  9. "That's true." She sat back once the bandage was applied, then looked down at her own bloody leg. Should probably get that patched up. "...Talk to your family about it. Don't make a choice until you know for sure."
  10. Ma'tani sat beside her and helped make sure the wound was treated. "You just found your family, though," she said softly. "July isn't going to be here much longer. Would you really leave them? Go into danger? Travel an unforgiving world?"
  11. "...My offer still stands. I can teach you how to fight."
  12. Ma'tani walked over and put a hand on her shoulder. "But you don't want to leave him."
  13. Ma'tani walked up to Jolane as July ran off. She limped slightly from the wound on her leg. "You aren't safe when he's around." @Spark of Hope @J. Magi
  14. Ma'tani ducked, dodging the crossbow bolt. She ran and intercepted the man with the sword, parrying his strike and slashing across his abdomen. Then she turned her attention to the crossbow soldier.
  15. Ma'tani, who had left July in disgust, snuck up behind the solder and hit him hard on the side of the head with the pommel of her sword. "Should've left her alone."
  16. She sighed in exasperation. "Being hunted by a military force is usually something you tell your friends." Her voice lowered. "Did you honestly think you wouldn't be risking Jolane's safety?"
  17. She tightened her grip. "And you didn't think to mention this to us?"
  18. Ma'tani sat in a corner of the inn, thinking. She saw the soldier walk in, saw the frantic exchange between July and August, saw August follow the soldier into the night. She watched as July walked up the stairs to the inn's second floor. Her eyes narrowed. She quickly stood and followed July up the stairs, catching him in the hallway, lined with doors on either side. She reached out and grabbed him by the arm. "What's going on?"
  19. Ma'tani watched Jolane for a moment longer before following the two. It'll be time for me to leave, soon... She chuckled wryly to herself. I guess Jolane's path isn't the same as mine. Nor mine the same as Jianzi's, for that matter... I didn't have a home to return to, after all. @Spark of Hope
  20. Ma'tani's eyes followed Rye as he left. What has happened in Shenai since my time there? Why do they need such weapons?
  21. Ma'tani hesitated, gazed off into the west for a moment. "I should probably..." Then she smiled and turned back. "You know what, I can stay for a day or two."
  22. Ma'tani smiled slightly and nodded. Ma'tani noticed August's distracted look. "What is it?" she asked in a low voice.
  23. Does she...even know them?
