    Bookwyrm sighed as he stood up and trotted away. No point in it anyhow. I wonder why I switched back to third person. Bookwyrm walked for a few hours before reaching a large tree that towered above the landscape. They're going to yell at me for ignoring the sandwich again, aren't they?

    Okay, this is an insane theory that popped into my head just now and I need to get it out so everyone can tell me that I'm crazy. Spoilers for Tress of the Emerald Sea. In Chapter 23, Fort mentions a legendary supposed thirteenth spore, the "bone spore," which people supposedly can't decide whether it's white or black. I think it's supposed to be assumed that these spores are aethers. They activate when exposed to water, which fits what we see in The Lost Metal. Each has a different effect. This interested me earlier in the book, because it's similar to the White Sand, which takes water from the Sand Master as it uses its energy. Then it struck me. I'm proposing that this supposed thirteenth spore either is, or grows on, the white sand of Taldain, and that Sand Mastery is a form of Aether magic. I know very little about how aethers actually work and don't know how the theory will actually hold up. I've only read up to the point where this thirteenth spore is mentioned, then came here to post the theory. I don't know if it fits with anything else, or how a "spore" would make it to Taldain. But this is something that I think is worth discussion. And if it isn't, please tell me, so I can stop following a crazy theory.

    It still was able to hire them. And so the Deceased Dead squad was formed, consisting of the four ghghosts, the most powerful double-undead in the universe.

    I, being a master of tesseracts, unfold it, trapping you in the bulk of the fourth dimension without any way out. I take the sandwich and tesseract to a peaceful, isolated planet to eat it in peace.

    Also courtesy of that same brother: Why is it that it's considered rude to release gas that would otherwise cause deadly intestinal ruptures, but we bless people when they spew out bacteria and viruses from their noses?

    It decided to create a ghghost army and began assassinating ghosts to turn them into ghghosts.

    Not really. I'm sure I'll grow and change and progress...but nothing specific. TPBM is weirdly not very tired.

    ....Wait. *Senses an impending Wikipedia rabbit hole* EDIT: Do you mean water ice or can it be other molecules? EDIT 2: If not, I assume you mean different geometric structures in the way the ice crystalizes? Like, Ice with a roman numeral?

    Alrighty! In celebration of me reaching 1,000 posts, I'm kickstarting an idea some other Sharders and I came up with. We were originally going to do it in November, then moved it to December, but everyone forgot. So now, we're starting it here. For each day of January, there will be a writing prompt. This will be supplied by me on some days, though for others, I may let other Sharders come up with them later. This isn't very structured, you see... but I think it will be fun. Prompt for January 1 is as follows: The Cycle Resets You can write anything based on that prompt. Start your post with the date, and re-state the prompt, to avoid confusion. Keep your story relatively short, and spoiler it. Discussion is allowed and encouraged! Share compliments and positive critiques on other's writing. We also need to figure out who is making prompts for future days, or if we want to make a list. As new prompts are added, I can probably come back and add them to this OP. But for now, let's start with what we have! (And while I'm not doing this in the OP, feel free to tag people you think might be interested.)

    And I probably won't do anything special for my 1,000th specifically...

    But I do have a few book ideas that could make good RPs. Maybe.

    So perhaps that'll be a thing.

    Avi blinked as she stared at her healed arm. Oh. She had met up with Il'anque in the first place because she knew the acolyte was a healer. Avi wasn't sure how that had slipped her mind. "Thanks," she said. "Sorry about that...I've never been healed with magic before." She turned her head upwards. "Just one short climb, and we'll be at the last ledge before the climb of the Third Layer. Let's get there and take a break before we head on the last stretch." @Frustration
