  1. Actually, if I recall correctly, we know next to nothing about how Jasnah does it except that it isn't exactly the same. As to how different it is, we don't really have any indication.
  2. I didn't think Peter and/or Brandon had sent them a new copy of it yet.....yet another thing to look into when I head over there tonight......
  3. By filling an empty thermometer with oil from a special type of fish, they can cause the temperature to rise or fall to the level the oil reaches. The fish are extremely rare. Alcohol and Wet Towels
  4. Right. But right at first, as seen with Kaladin in particular, Radiants aren't aware that they're drawing Stormlight. Hence the hypothesis that Elhokar cracked the gems in his own plate - he was unknowingly using them to fuel soulcasting. And since Szeth specifically mentions that his use of Lashings interferes with the gems that powered the plate, we have more to point toward the fact that it does in fact cause problems. And while I agree that Stormlight doesn't necessarily have to fuel all of the magic systems, I have to wonder, if not Stormlight, then what? I'd think that Brandon would be much more likely to keep it consistent, especially for systems that are as interconnected and related as those used by the radiants.
  5. If you're talking about the stuff I mentioned, it's almost a direct quote from a Q & A. I think the online one with Barnes and Noble. That could be interesting. The easiest way is to upload somewhere on the internet, then either link it or use the img tag (If you push the little button with a picture on it when you're posting, it'll give you the tag. Alternatively you could just type [.img] and [./img] (without the dots - they're there so you can see that particular example) Then you just enter the link. I think. I've only ever posted a picture like once, so this is all pretty hazy to me. But honestly, if you just give us a link, that should be good enough for everyone here, methinks. Yey for putting tons of stuff in parentheses!).
  6. Apparently if you look hard enough, you can find all of liar, though I have yet to meet anyone who has actually found all of it this way. The chapters of Liar were posted way back when Brandon was still not particularly big, and Liar itself apparently didn't turn out great. He finished it, but wasn't pleased with it, so he shelved until further notice. Most of Brandon's unpublished stuff, you can ask him for and he'll let you read it. Liar is a rare exception, so far as I'm aware.
  7. Who says undead can't like cheesecake? Hug them? Serve them eternally? Let them eat our brains, thereby also becoming undead? Give them cheesecake? The list goes on.....
  8. Welcome! You should fit right in around here. We're all of that particular opinion. I, at least, hope you stick around and help us dig up random and obscure facts about Brandon's books that no sane person should know, then discuss them to the point where we might as well have messily bludgeoned them to death. It's great
  9. smallest of the Well obviously there's a story of sorts.....this thread is called three word story. But then, it just was starting to be too happy and kind of weird. We need some good violence and action in there with the unicorn. So I threw in a chimera for fun.
  10. I agree. I just wanted to make the point. However, I do think that trying to cram it all into that 10 year timeline is a bit much. Especially when we know that Hoid is functionally immortal.
  11. I would probably die if I were lactose intolerant, as I go through two gallons of milk every three days (yes, this is just me). And cheesecake is the awesome. Also, Cheesecake, while it would be excellent as a prop (because really what isn't cheesecake good at?), would really not be fulfilling its full potential (namely, being eaten by me. Yes, pleasing me is the single greatest thing a cheesecake can do. I am that awesome) Besides, even if I were lactose intolerant, I'd still take the extra and sell it. Cheesecake is pricey.
  12. a huge chimera Really, it's about time we got this story back on track.
  13. My only question is why don't we see Dalinar's gemstones cracking in his Shardplate like we do with Elhokar? For that matter, why would Elhokar soulcast during that battle? If he were closer, I'd say Dallinar took the Stormlight from them, but you'd think people would notice that..... However, we never see Dalinar sucking Stormlight out of anything else. Also, I have to say, I'd really love for at least one member of the Kholin family to not be a magic user (and preferably not Renarin, since he already kind of got the shaft the most of all the Kholins). Good catch, though. I just hope you're wrong.
  14. Just out of curiosity, does anyone actually know why it's down? I just went to post the other day, and it was down, so if there was an announcement I missed it. Based on the "No Time Frame For Fixing," I was assuming it was unplanned, in which case I'd still love to know what's the deal.
  15. Yes. But you'll have to make an extra cheesecake, and give both of them to me so I can give the one to Munin. I won't even require a cut of the revenue.
  16. They are in order so far. Brandon mentioned that he's skipped books, though. Everything that's been published is in order, but that says nothing about Elantris 2. I'm not quite sure where you're getting that FE-Warbreaker has to be inside that 10 year gap.
  17. I am seriously considering buying a new copy of Elantris just because I'm getting so frustrated with not having mine with me. I just find it odd, because with every other time we hear a voice in a pool, it's a Shard. Admittedly, Vin hears Ruin's voice while in Preservation's pool, but I thought that was because of her earring. Or did she take that off? Curses. I really do need my books here....... It seems weird that we'd have a random non-Shard entity. It also makes very little sense for the Shardholder to be dead and yet the Shard to still have sentience. It should be like the Dor, just a force.
  18. Cosmere Spoilers Follow. You have been warned. (Though to be fair, it's only really a spoiler if you haven't read Way of Kings or don't know what the deal is with Hoid. In which case you'll just be confused anyway) Mistborn 3 Spoilers also follow, though I added them on the edit and was to lazy to change everything else around..... so there. We also know that Hoid is very proficient at using Shadesmar, and Brandon implied that it was the means by which he planet-hops. This has led to the theory that the 17th Shard might use it for planet hopping as well, though we have nothing really to go on there. Shadesmar is also not only limited to Roshar, though the portion of it that's mapped in the back of Way of Kings is an inverse of Roshar. Brandon uses a lot of Realmatic theory - there's a physical realm (Where all of the stories take place so far, with the exception of the few brief jaunts to Shadesmar), a Cognitive Realm (Shadesmar), and a Spiritual Realm (not yet seen, though we know that Sazed was able to contact the Spiritual Realm once he took Ruin and Preservation). As to Stormlight, your guess is as good as mine. Probably better.
  19. No, I don't, though I vaguely remember the conversation. I'd love to have the dates too, as I think it'd be great fun to do.
  20. plummeted from the the great thing about this is that I can be relatively sure that the next word is not, in fact, going to be sky, as that would be far too predictable and boring. Except now that I said that, someone will do it just to spite me.....
  21. I was thinking of getting there obscenely early on Monday morning, but that's just because knowing me, I'll be frantically trying to finish homework until two and won't be able to break to go stand in line. So three hours of sleep to get me by, then head over and sleep in line for three hours. Assuming I don't freeze to death.
  22. I only quickly read it, but from what I saw, it all sounds pretty fanboyish. If you want people who aren't Brandon fanboys like the rest of us, you'll want to work on that a bit. Specifically, I'd include anything that bothered you or that you disliked about the book. That's what a lot of people are looking for in reviews anyway. In short, if you really liked it, talk more about why you liked it. If you didn't like some things, bring those up. If you didn't like it, talk about any redeeming qualities it had and be sure to explain why you think you didn't like it, etc.
  23. That, and Brandon refused to answer any of my questions about her, which in general means that it's something you should be paying attention to, or that at least has potential to be important.
