  1. him, so he Ok, so maybe not. Maybe we'll have the pizza deliveryman necromancer come resurrect you or something.
  2. I'll agree with you there. But then, that's kind of the point of finding information about the cosmere. It's difficult at this point to look at the universe as a whole and just logically piece things together. We don't have enough information to do that, at least completely. The idea is that we find the information by looking through the various books, then compare that to the information found in other books, and see what applies throughout the universe. Then we can work from there to piece the rest of the universe together. I agree that looking at the universe as a whole has merit. But it needs to be done along with looking at the individual books.
  3. Fortunately for Silus, I figure it's about time you had some good luck, man....
  4. want Silus to That story just took a totally unexpected turn.....
  5. because (s)he had Which one is the bride? The koloss, I guess, since Silus proposed. But I guess the bride could propose too....
  6. Re-reading my earlier post, I sound a bit harsh. It's not that I don't think that the numbers hold any significance. It's just that I don't think that we can glean that significance from what little information we have, and I think there are other things we could be looking into right now that will be much more beneficial to our understanding of the cosmere. So sorry if I came across as overly critical - I do that sometimes, and I don't mean anything bad by it.
  7. Oh, I agree that assuming things is completely necessary for theorizing purposes. It's just that all too often, we take our assumptions to be fact, and leave valuable avenues unexplored because of it. I like purity, but again I'm having a hard time relating it to the pool. But then again, I guess Preservation's pool doesn't really have all that much to do with preservation, and Ruin's doesn't seem to cause instant destruction of stuff that comes into contact with it, so the pools don't necessarily have to embody the aspect of the Shard. In that respect, I'd say that Purity is actually more likely than Relief or an equivalent.
  8. Because that's definitely not a really broad topic.... in all seriousness, we really don't know enough about the cosmere to say how the number 16 influences it. We have only a few links that we know of (ie 16 Shards), but I don't think that we can get much farther based on numbers alone.
  9. What would make you think it was Skai? I can't think of anything to connect the two at the moment, whereas the pool is directly associated with the Elantrians, who seem to be closely tied to Aona. If you've got anything to connect Skai to the pool, I'd be thrilled to hear it. I agree we take a lot on assumption.
  10. Hoid is almost certainly not a herald, based on what little we know. He was there when Adonalsium was shattered, and he pops up all over the place, something the other Heralds don't do (and couldn't, theoretically, since they were imprisoned between desolations. We also have reason to believe the other Heralds are just wandering Roshar) He is also very likely not a Shardbearer, as we had initially thought. At this point, it seems most likely that Hoid is just a random person who knows a whole lot more about the universe than anyone except the Shards, and happens to be using that knowledge to try to reach some unknown goal.
  11. I wondered about that too. It doesn't seem fair. That's going to kill at least three good writing days for me (the day before the release, the day of to read it, and the day after to catch up on all my missed homework). And that's being optimistic....
  12. Hmmm.... apparently Silus' heart is rather white, unless we're referring to a different Andrew. No one understood
  13. Hey Ari! Right now there's not all that much in the theorizing department that doesn't also get posted over on TWG, but we'd love to have you around all the same!
  14. I cannot even begin to tell you how much I disagree with this particular statement. If you run out of ideas, just write a 500 word generic fantasy prophecy. Have your characters quote from it all the time. Your 20 minutes of worldbuilding just got you two days worth of writing at least. On top of that, if you know a bunch about your world, you can crap out a bunch of description. I did this a couple of times in the last week last year, and it saved my butt. More than anything, it kept me writing when I was out of ideas, which is actually what ended up making my story turn into a much more interesting story. Now if you're going for something where you won't have to cut 80% of what you write at least, this isn't particularly helpful, but if that's what you're going for, why are you doing it during NaNoWriMo? Everything in NaNoWriMo is crap. The only thing that you really get out of it is an amazing sense of accomplishment and much greater potential in your story. You have to revise it to death to actually get it there. (I should probably mention at this point that you're right. The only time it helps to have the extra worldbuilding material is when you run out of story, or don't know how to get from one phase to the next) Or at least that was my experience with it. Still doing the revising to death, actually. I'm only about halfway through my story, and then I get into rough spots again. This year I have a story idea that I think will get me 50k words. I'm going to try to get done in the first two thirds of the month and spend the last third writing on the one I did last year. Andrew the Great on the NaNo site if anyone wants to add me as a Writing Buddy who didn't last year. And I'd like to encourage everyone to try NaNo at least once. It's crazy, difficult, and more than a little painful at times, but definitely worth it.
  15. , mostly because the I'm not really sure how I feel about it at this point. It's vastly amusing, but I'm suddenly very aware that eventually I could show up in this story. By the way, how is it that Chaos is still unharmed? He's the only one that hasn't had anything bad happen to him, and he's been in the thread the longest. Though Eerongal got off pretty easy most of the time too.
  16. , but accepted Silus ;D
  17. to the koloss. ;D Yeah. I was going to put something else and spare Silus, but nothing else works nearly as well.
  18. Shardblade-Wielding Koloss screaming (It's only three words cuz it's hyphenated. Whoever's next, please don't take that to heart.....)
  19. I'm almost 100% sure on this, though I don't have time to go through and check it with the book right now. If I finish my homework before 1 or so, I'll get on again and see if I can find it.
  20. his favorite cookies,
  21. Perhaps something similar to the Ferochemical ability to store mental quickness? I think that's one of the things you can store.... It would obviously have to be slightly different, but Brandon's magic is all based off of one unified Theory of Magic. It would make sense for there to be similarities.
  22. In defense of the other side of the argument, it could be that Odium would only tell them to do things that make sense at first, then start giving more sinister commands after he's got them believing he's the Almighty. That said, I think it more likely that either the Heirocracy was a bad group to receive the visions, or the Heirocracy is just what all of the characters in the book say it was: a group of priests trying to gain power by claiming they'd had visions from the Almighty.
  23. So, Brandon mentioned on Twitter that he's finished Chapter 20 of this now....If it's 20 chapters, not sure we can call it a short story.... just saying......
