[Words of Radiance Tour] Chicago Signing, Mar 22
Argent replied to Argent's topic in Events and Signings
Alright, I am done with the transcription. The new questions are all in Part 1, after the 68:00 / 1:08:00 minute mark. I also added a link to the transcript in the first post of this thread. -

That's what I was thinking. If I know what the ideal ratio for pewter is, I should be able to replicate that with Soulcasting. -

Heh. Many of the questions are repeats of questions from other signings, I wouldn't get too excited. But I got a similar impression from the Soulcasting question. Though I wonder why alloys wouldn't work... -

I added some more the transcript: Personalization Part 1, questions asked between 8:00 and 68:00. Part 1 has another 25 minutes or so I will go through later today. Personalization Part 2, questions asked up to the 28:00 mark. Part 2 is now fully transcribed. -

No problem, I ask what I like I am finishing the rest of the transcription (got another hour or so), but I also have to hit the gym in about an hour, so we'll see if I'll be able to finish it. There are a couple of interesting, though not superamazing, bits. -
Alright, as per Brandon's advice, I've sent Isaac an email, asking him to clear some things up for us. He'll probably need to talk it over with Brandon, so don't hold your breath, but maybe we'll learn some things

I don't know if they'll get special powers beyond just what Stormlight gives them - Brandon wanted to stress that the numbers vary, not the powers (though he didn't outright deny the latter). -
The two other spren you talk about might not be actual we spren, we are not too sure - Taravangian's Diagram mentions them, they are (some of) the Unmade.

I am not sure you can train out of this - not if you want to keep Surgebinding. The dead spren itself is not really an issue for this, but given Syl's discomfort and disgust from just looking at somebody else's Shardblade, I don't think she would want to function if Kaladin had one.
-
Yea, I have to agree with you here... Though I will stick with "Taln didn't get a chance to re-bond with his Honorblade after his return"
-
Pat goes literally through hundreds of revisions before publishing, let's cut him some slack Exceptional prose is more difficult than exceptional plots.
-
Oh, heh. I sure hope to keep the trend up then!

The reason we describe our sun as yellow is because of the atmospheric composition. The gases in our atmosphere make it look like that sometimes. Other atmospheres would make it look different.

Cosmere Fanart - Sketches and Works-in-Progress
Argent replied to ExMachina's topic in Creator's Corner
As you already know, Brandon (and I kid you not, I sat for some full 5 seconds wanting to type "Dalinar" for his name...) was super excited about Where is my Chull? You should see a photo of it on his blog sometime in the near future. He LOVED the chicken -
Would you take a Shard? (General Spoilers)
Argent replied to Observer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
We would really need to know all the Shards for this... But for now I'd go with either Endowment (because I would like to gift things to people) or Honor (because I've always dug paladins). -
This is wonderful.
-
Yea, I wondered about this too. My current theory is that they another couldn't (failed to find all of them), or there are Parshendi in other places - Braize, maybe - and Odium sends them to Roshar before Desolations.

Pretty sure Dragonsteel is a prequel of some sorts. Liar of Partinel takes place before it though.
-
Except when he recites it to Shallan and Amaram, they have no issues with it.
-
Oh, yea, there will definitely some angry chats. But I don't think you need to be a Surgebinder to join the modern version of the Skybreakers - it looks like they are more of an organization with the same goals and beliefs, not so much an actual Orden.
-
Somebody at the Chicago signing asked this. I think Brandon said something to the effect of "very astute observation" when the person mentioned the gem on Helaran's Blade. I suspect the actual answer will surface soon.
-
I wonder if maybe he showed up with the Honorblade, but it just wasn't bound to him.

Audio transcripts. Apparently my app saved them as .wav files (I expected .mp3, actually), and a free SoundCloud account won't take 2:30 hours of recording, so I uploaded them to my Google Drive account - you will have to download them in order to listen to them, I am afraid. Root folder for the signing: Uploads General Q&A Personal Questions (Part 1) Personal Questions (Part 2) General Q&A These questions are from the general Q&A in which Brandon points at random people in the audience and they ask him (non-spoiler) questions. For now you will only see my own question, but maybe I or somebody else will transcribe the others at a later date. There were one or two cosmere questions, but nothing really interesting or spoilery. Not the answer I was hoping for, but not bad either. He then said that it's okay if I shoot Isaac an email and they (Isaac and Brandon) will see how much they want to share. But I expect us to get at least some useful information. I sent him an email, so now we wait. Signing & Personalization Line (1/2) These questions are the personal ones, when people go through the line and have their books signed and personalized. Many of them are quiet, so heads up. The recording app I used did something weird and ate the first few minutes of the first audio file (so it starts off with an answer to a question even I couldn't hear, but I think it refers to Syl's "Stretch forth thy hand" - the reason she used an antiquated form of the language and this is best English translation they could come up). Questions from the Lost Recording Recorded Questions Somebody (announce yourself, dude!) asked one of my questions: Dude, I know you are lurking about, come claim credit for your question! I can't help but feel there was a lot of misunderstanding going on in this questions, so I transcribed it literally. Signing & Personalization Line (2/2)- 79 replies

I don't know though. The Parshendi at the end of WoR are a fraction of their population before TWoK, but they must've grown pretty numerous in the past 4 millenia. I guess what I am saying is that the Voidbringers were always fully staffed before each Desolation, but they couldn't be too numerous, as each Desolation brings them ti the brink of extinction. Today, the Parshendi are just a fraction of what they were before the war, but their numbers before the war must have been much higher than before any other Desolation. So we have 99 Desolations, each with 100% of the listeners population going bad (presumably), vs. this Desolation with only about 10% of their population alive and going bad, but this population must be much higher than in the he other cases too.
