  1. Mysty's post immediately before mine?
  2. Yea, the gate thing might be it... But doesn't Galladon say that before Raoden figures out it actually depicts a person falling into a lake (i.e. the viewpoint is different)?
  3. Yep, Lightbringer is definitely a good read (though I've only read The Black Prism so far...). And on that note, Brandon is now Weeks' nemesis the same way Scalzi is Brandon's nemesis - because both Brandon and Brent came out with a a magic system based on light / color around the same time, but Brandon did it first.
  4. Good. Welcome now!
  5. I thought that Liss might be a Herald too, but the fact that she found Szeth to be a creepy servant dissuaded me. The Heralds should have enough experience to not be creeped out by a Truthless - plus I have a gut feeling that a Herald would've been able to figure out that he has an Honorblade somehow.
  6. I like you.
  7. While I applaud your literary introduction, I would advise you to make it... less spoilery. Unlike the Words of Radiance subforum, all sorts of people come here, and it's conceivable that they haven't read it yet.
  8. No can do - WoB that humans can't bond (or at least have a very hard time bonding with) voidspren.
  9. I wouldn't be so certain about the connection between Shardpools and mountains - the Endowment's pool is strongly suspected to be somewhere in the jungles / valleys around Hallandren, and given the special treatment the Elendel Basin received from Harmony, it might be where his pool is (and didn't we have a WoB that the Hallandren jungles and the Basin are similar somehow?).
  10. No - all of this is based on Brandon absolutely refusing to acknowledge that person as being Taln.
  11. This is very similar to how I've been thinking about Shards and Investiture, although I never put it in words quite this way. I've been thinking about Shards as "entities that pulse wavelengths of power." This - sans the dead duck - is a good way of explaining it. Also, I can never make my theories so succinct...
  12. For somebody who hates lighteyes, Kaladin sure is doing a whole lot of saving them...
  13. It can't be R, it has too many lines.
  14. They looked different. Dalinar has to spend time bonding his (while we have WoB that people don't bond with Honorblades). But most importantly, when Dalinar speaks the First and Second Ideals, he hears the Blade (the dead spren) screaming - which can't happen with Honorblades, because they are not "made of" spren. Oh, and the Stormfather refers to the Blade Dalinar has in the end as "monstrosity," I believe. EDIT: go away, Moogle, I was spreading knowledge here!
  15. What's going on?
  16. We don't know who or how switched the Blades. It's not Hoid though. As for the Stormlight, we never see him actively draw it in. It could be that he is in this pre-Ideal state Kaladin was in during most of his bridgeruns, where he can use a little Stormlight without being aware he is doing it. Or it could be that he won some genetic lottery and can heal pretty well.
  17. Yea, atium is a shortcut. I'd say that if you are going to steal an attribute, you need a spike made of the respective Shard's focus or something. But non-Invested Shards are a hairy business - maybe any material would work for "their" people, and maybe none will.
  18. When Taln says "one of Ishar's knights," he is referring to the fact that it was Ishar's idea to found the Knights Radiant. When the Orders were created, they kind of went and asked the different Heralds to be their patrons - and that's how the Lightweavers got Shalash.
  19. No, I wouldn't say so. We've been asking Brandon about the map for weeks, I figured he just wanted to give context to different the two hints are.
  20. Each Radiant or Surgebinder (e.g. Kaladin) belongs to one Order (e.g. Windrunners), which Order has access to two Surges (e.g. Adhesion & Gravitation). Each Surge comes with its own set of powers, most of which we only have a vague idea about.
  21. I always imagined you need a spike of material appropriate for the magic you want to steal. So it wouldn't matter where you are spiking a Windrunner, you need a sapphire spike.
  22. It's for a good cause. We don't really know. There is a thread somewhere about worldhopping on Sel, we are kind of talking about this there.
  23. Right, I obviously have no idea how to play those games...
  24. 1400 exactly. Got a Willshaper, a Lightweaver, and a couple of Truthwatchers at the end.
