[Words of Radiance Tour] Chicago Signing, Mar 22
Argent replied to Argent's topic in Events and Signings
Lots of people, scheduling conflict, or Barnes & Noble raining on the party? -
I am not sure they knew what would happen when they killed their spren.
-
But how can everyone understand him, except for Dalinar and Elhokar? Is that scene the only time he decided to mumble?

Because they are perfectly balanced, maybe? -
I really don't see how it can. Shallan, Hoid, and the guards from Kholinar understand him perfect as he speaks "perfect Alethi." Dalinar and Elhokar can barely catch a word here and there and attribute it to what they think is Northern accent. I'd be okay if it was just the accent, but they literally have no idea what he is saying.

Hmm, I would like to know the types of Wyndle, Glys, and Ivory. Maybe I get squeeze one of them out of Brandon. I don't know about the unique abilities Shallan and maybe Jasnah seem to exhibit. I am curious, but I am not sure where this question would rank in my priorities. We'll see. -
But... why would you make a separate topic just for a hint? To a problem already solved?
-
Okay, I won't argue against you. I am not convinced, but that's because I believe that both Taln and his Honorblade showed up before the gates of Kholinar, and it was only after that that the shenanigans started. I can't argue against your points though, and my head is killing me right now, so I'll drop it.

I am aware of this - my question aims to unveil much subtler things. There are inconsistencies with both the person and the weapon he carries. -
I think that was a fan theory - I don't remember a WoB along those lines.
-
Somebody actually figured it out a while back - are you interested in seeing the solution, or would you prefer to work through it on your own?

Thanks, I'll revise the first question. And no harm in checking for extra significance in the second - it caught Nazh's eye. -
Except the more natural intuitive interpretation of Szeth's excerpt is to assume that it's his Blade and his Blade alone that turns his eyes light - it's a "unique effect of his particular weapon." It could mean "unique effect of the Honorblades," but it's not certain. Maybe the Honorblades turn the eye color of whomever wields them the same color as that particular Honorblade's Herald's eye color? So if Szeth took Taln's weapon (assuming he is Taln and the weapon is his Honorblade), his eyes would turn dark brown. This seems equally likely to me, if not more so.

*** EDIT ***See this post for the transcript of the actual questions and answers. *** EDIT *** I've been meaning to create a thread about this for a few days now, and I always get distracted by something. I need to get this done though - there has been far too much new content lately, and I am still rereading Words of Radiance, so I'll need another brain or two to pick for questions ideas. So let's talk questions. I want to try to get one non-heavily cosmeric during the general Q&A, at least another 4-5 during the personalization, and as many as I can (10+?) after the event if Brandon sticks around. I was able to do this last time, but we'll have to see how his schedule works this time... | Words of Radiance Spoilers | Words of Radiance Spoilers | Words of Radiance Spoilers | DISCLAIMER: I WILL LIKELY EDIT THIS POST FREQUENTLY THROUGHOUT THE DAY, DO CHECK IT EVERY NOW AND THEN Nalthis When Drabs die, do they cease to exist completely, realmatically speaking?Roshar / Greater Roshar Some clarification on how the Alethi glyphs are created? (I will explain briefly how far we've gone in our own efforts) Can the forms of power the listeners / Parshendi embrace when bonded with a voidspren be treated as counterparts to the Orders of the Knights Radiant? Is the person who arrived at the gates of Kholinar in the epilogue of The Way of Kings the same person as the one Bordin and Wit delivered the warcamps? Is / was one of the Heralds staying in Kholinar in recent years? (I suspect either Jezrien or Chana, maaaybe Ishar) How many worldhoppers have we seen in Words of Radiance? Can we confirm the real names of the Heralds? Jezrien, Nale, Chana, Vedel, Pali, Ash, Battar, Kalak, Taln / Talenel (nickname?), Ishar? (This is mostly for my own peace of mind) Have we seen an object similar, though perhaps less powerful, than the dark sphere Gavilar gave to Szeth? Did Gavilar see the same visions Dalinar did? Are the people Dalinar "turns into" during his visions related? Do parshmen / Parshendi / listeners give birth to live offspring? Did the ketek The Way of King's book names (Above the Silence, the illuminating storms - dying storms - illuminate the silence above) foreshadow the fact that Dalinar will learn of the Almighty's death during / because of a highstorm? What's the meaning of "Above the Silence" part?Does the Words of Radiance book ketek (Alight, winds approach deadly approaching winds alight) foreshadow the Everstorm in a similar way? Is there more to it? Scadrial Are there uses of Hemalurgy that require non-Allomantic metals? Could you, for example, fill a wooden stake with Breath and use that as a spike?Sel Regarding Dilaf's flashback: Did the 'spell' that messed his wife up go wrong because of human error? Or was it because Dilaf was, in some way, inadvertently interfering? What is the other oval on the mural supposed to depict? (not the blue lake oval, but the second, white sphere). If it's a Realm, which is it? (I want to rephrase this so it's a little more descriptive) Taldain N/AThrenody N/AYolen N/A

He introduces himself, in all three situations, as Talenel'Elin, Stonesinew. If he is not him, that has to be external.
-
I am just really excited I pretty much theorycrafted myself to those answers. Means I am finally starting to think realmatically!
-
It's possible, I suppose, but he would have to somehow imprint Taln's memories on him as well, and that sounds difficult.
-
What is this glyph? Endsheets, maps, symbols, and possible loony ideas
Argent replied to scm288's topic in Stormlight Archive
I don't think it's likely that the Radiants had such a big impact on the geography of the continent, it's too wonky of a theory for my stomach. Plus Roshar existed (and was Desolated) for a long time before the Radiants showed up. -
Hood didn't swap the Blades, we have WoB on this. And on the accents, they HAVE to change - Elhokar and Dalinar can barely understand him, and they presumably have the same accent as the guards from Kholinar. This too would work with my time-lost mind theory
-
In an odd way, if Dalinar dies before we get to see his flashback sequences it would make me even more suspicious of Taln, because Dalinar is the other thing Brandon was really coy about.
-
Welcome, sul !
-
Pretty sure they are larkin.
-
I was wondering about that too. Maybe it's the drift that's noticeable.
-
Pretty sure the masked man just indicates Hoid's presence in the chapter. But we may be onto something with the other portrait...
-
That would be Silence Divine, takes place on the Shardworld Ashyn in the same solar system as Roshar.
