  1. 1. I believe all magic is renewable - conservation of (magical) energy and all that. 2. I can't imagine the answer to this becoming known in the next 15 years... Minimum.
  2. Because Ruin's God metal doesn't seem to do anything nearly as interesting as creating a new magic system when applied to Preservation's magic system.
  3. That was the whole point, playing with your age doesn't fool your soul, it still knows you are old(er). So gold, or any kind of Spiritual healing won't work.
  4. So /u/Doom-Slayer asked a good question on /r/Mistborn - essentially, why did the Lord Ruler's age caught up with him when Vin pulled his atiumminds. And then Brandon showed up and wrote a dissertation on the topic - one that touched on how Connection works: I don't necessarily know where to take this, but it was interesting to read.
  5. Because nothing else makes sense. We definitely don't have enough information though, so it could end up being wrong.
  6. Here's a theory of mine that covers some of the ideas in this thread. I believe it was at least partially disproved (there isn't a one-to-one mapping between Orders and Voidforms), but I am onto something.
  7. Next episode: something happens to Fitzsimmons. Because it's not good television unless all the ships sink.
  8. Yeah, he is a guy from White Sand's world, Taldain.
  9. I suppose I work the other way these days - I will buy anything by Brandon, no reservations.
  10. Finished Terry Pratchett's Theatre of Cruelty (which I almost feel bad about because it's super short, but it counts towards my 52-book challenge...). I've moved onto Pyramids now. It started off a bit meh, I think, but it picked up. I'll say though, doing a full Pratchett (re)read is kind of exhausting. Most of the books might be sitting at between a third and a half of a Brandon book, but there are, what, 40 of them? 50?
  11. Here's a bit of interesting trivia:
  12. What we know, unofficially, is that he wanted to split his tour between Shadows of Self and Bands of Mourning, so if you saw him for Shadows, you probably won't see him for Bands (and vice versa). It's also a shorter tour, I believe.
  13. Aluminum is magically inert, for whatever reasons. It doesn't drain Investiture as much as it just doesn't interact with it. You can look at the last questions in the transcript of the Shadows of Self Chicago signing from earlier this year for details and exact quote.
  14. Brandon is known to be optimistic about release dates and deadlines
  15. Yeah, Superman is definitely dragging the show down. I understand the rationale behind his presence, but he needs an excuse to go and do his own thing for a season or two.
  16. I finally got in touch with Peter regarding my question from the Chicago Shadows of Self signing about the number of spikes Paalm had (i.e. one from unknown metal, or one from unknown metal and one regular). The magnificent human being that he is, he got back to me pretty quickly: "Paalm was only using one spike at a time, all of them made from the unknown metal."

  18. Looks like maybe Spring 2016?
  19. Preservation and Ruin created Scadrial, however. It's a bit of a special case.
  20. Shardworlds*
  21. Been reading Snuff. It's a solid book, but I feel it really pales before Thud! I am also almost behind on my 52-book Goodreads challenge, so I really hope whatever it is that I choose to read next is a quick read.
  22. Which doesn't necessarily explain why the book refers to it as "gasoline."
  23. The general understanding is that the speaker (assumed to be Kalak by many) is referring to Jezrien (whom we know to have been a king, or lord) while speaking with Nalan, a.k.a. Darkness. The "creature" is Szeth, who carries Jezrien's Honorblade.
  24. He did.
  25. Oh, the glasses. Right. I thought it was dumb for Superman, I think it's dumb for Supergirl, but it is dumb in a consistent way, so I buy it.
