  1. It really isn't. Prequels rarely fit well with their original works, I've noticed. I've always treated them more like... like (many of) the interludes in The Stormlight Archive, now that I think about it. It's a different story.
  2. The Great Pratchett Reread continues... I am now reading Monstrous Regiment, and absolutely loving it! It reads very differently compared to most other Pratchett books, much less over-the-top, more serious, but really really good.
  3. Everyone here discussing the autism, and I just want to know how to spent all those extra skill points you got from playing the game with "handicap effects."
  4. It's one of the better endings.
  5. I thought very much the same thing. I am not sure why, but it sounds more suspicious than simply the exposure to the outside world.
  6. After excruciating two weeks, we finally have a new chapter!
  7. It's not quite what I meant, but you have a few more books before I can elaborate without spoiling anything.
  8. I find Rand's journey... satisfying. There are books in which I progressively hate his character more and more, but the overall journey works well for me.
  9. I think we actually heard the guards are not aluminum. Some time ago. I mean, least of all, people on Roshar are familiar with aluminum as metal (see Shallan's flashbacks), and they don't know what the guards are made of.
  10. A few trusted Obligators were mixing the containers up, sending both regular metal and very little atium to Luthadel, leaving most of the atium to be transported to the Homeland in secret. You have to remember, Ruin doesn't see everything - he could, but it requires focus on his part, and the Lord Ruler simply disguised the atium shipments too well.
  11. Because the atium was hidden well. It was always surrounded with other metal - from the moment it was extracted from its geode, until the moment it was deposited inside the Trust. No chance for Ruin to see it.
  12. Both of them are a tiny bit more explicit than Brandon. No gore, cursing in both if I recall correctly, no explicit sex.
  13. Right. So, I finished Terry Pratchett's The Truth since my last update, which was alright - not amazing, but pretty good; better once you realize how much Vimes is in it. Realizing that I might fail my 52 books in 2015 reading challenge, I decided to cheat a little bit and read Mary Robinette Kowal's The Lady Astronaut of Mars, which I had been eyeing for a long time. To be fair, the story bummed me out a little. I don't like reading about the frailty of people, and this had a lot of that. Good story, but not my cup of tea. And finally, to wrap up my reading challenge, I went through Neil Gaiman's Coraline. It felt like both a children's book, in the way everything felt like an adventure, and a horror story. Two hours after I finished it, I saw the movie - which, if you were curious, emphasizes the adventure aspect much more than the horror one. And whose finale I didn't like at all. Some of the deviations from the book I could accept, but I felt like the book finale worked much better.
  14. On a different note, remember that loyal stormtrooper who was about to kick Finn's rear before the Resistance showed up? He's already become a meme. The KnowYourMeme page is a little shabby right now, but you can find a lot of stuff if you search for TR-8R or TR8-TOR. For example. Seriously, look it up.
  15. It starts in January officially, but they showed the first episode earlier in December, as a promo.
  16. Did anyone else see the early screening of the pilot episode of The Magicians? You know, the show based on Lev Grossman's books? Because I did, and I loved it so hard, I've been hunting down interviews and trailers to get my fix until the end of January...
  17. The Cosmere itself is a dwarf galaxy, so by definition everything we read about happens in the same galaxy.
  18. I don't know if intergalactic even applies here. We don't know if there are other galaxies in the world.
  19. Eh, sounds too cliched for Brandon. I would rather put my money on Wayne snatching the Bands and running circles around Harmony, not giving them to him, just for kicks.
  20. Depends on how FTL works. In my head, once you go FTL, you've gone instantaneous, not mucking around with 1.1c or some nonsense like that. Spacetime is your @#!$%. As for refueling, it would again depend on how it works.
  21. Weee! Shard WoBs are the best WoBs!
  22. Not necessarily. He could just come up with a bunch of names for worlds, and then put new stories on those worlds. Planet names are not that important. He could put Planet X on the map, and not develop a story for it until two decades down the line. Or never.
  23. The one thing we know for a fact is that aluminum is magically inert. So Allomancy won't affect it (you can't Push/Pull on it, you can't send your Soothing/Rioting through it, you probably can't Seek through an aluminum barrier, etc), Breath won't stick to it, Soulstamps won't affect it, and (probably) neither will Aons. I imagine you can't Lash it, or otherwise affect it with Surges. I don't remember whether Shardblades can cut it, but if they can, I expect it is because the metal itself is not terribly durable, and Shardblades have enough Physical aspect to act like normal metal weapons in this regard. And so on.
  24. Han said that those who knew Luke best believed he was looking for the first Jedi temple, or somesuch. Doesn't mean they were right though.
