  1. A few bible verses about revenge suddenly feel a load more real to me. It has nothing to do with reading the Count of Monte Cristo, though that is thematically appropriate for the moment. One of my siblings finally got what was coming for them. I managed, somehow, not to show delight in any way, shape or form. Instead, I felt a little sorrowful that they were experiencing the pain they were experiencing.

Volley ball with cousins is very fun. I had to relearn a bit of it, but I got the hang of it again pretty quick. I only wish we could've done it for another hour or two.

Maybe I'll do something special for my 4,000th post... who knows.

And now I shall get off and read as much of Monte Cristo as I can before sleep hits me like a truck.

Same, but luckily for me it wasn’t too long past midnight.

  2. The Air near the Rampart. Slithering through the air, 8 reptilian creatures, called dragons by most, approached at terrifying speeds. At their head, a reddish-black dragon with an odd watch-like thing on its frontal right wrist grinned in a predatory way. Thaidakar, Soulless, Drifted One, Champion of the Dark Entity, Former Lightweaver, Staff member of the Insanity Clinic and trusted by Calano. Something in him tingled, an eagerness for the events ahead. This was going to be fun. If Kaos wasn't defeated, Thaidakar would find a way to take down as many of Chaos's forces as possible. There was an odd sense of despair in him. He knew that Calano, despite what he'd said, would waver if-when-the time came to kill Emma. And, if he couldn't, perhaps it would be his duty to swoop in and strike the killing blow. Calano would hate him for it, most definitely, but the resolve to defeat Kaos strengthened him. They must win at all costs. Freedom was worth it all, even if it stained him in blood. A few of the Drifted Ones behind Thaidakar chatted softly about battle plans. Thaidakar kept himself aloof from them. Some would think it was because he wanted to make them respect him as a leader and know that he wasn't simply one of them to talk with. No, it wasn't that. It was that Thaidakar was not a Soulless anymore. At least, not in the way the others were. He had left millennia ago and had only come back for brief visits two or three times. Thaidakar was his own brand of Soulless now. Thaidakar tilted his head as they grew near, seeing all of the forces disappear. No matter, they could just overwhelm whatever was waiting for them the- Thaidakar flinched mid-flight. "Bookwyrm..." he muttered in a deep, draconic and soulless voice. The other soulless ignored that comment and came closer. Thaidakar halted once they were about fifteen meters away from the wall. In a loud, enhanced voice, Thaidakar proclaimed, "All who will surrender now will be spared," he directed two sets of three soulless to farther parts of the wall, leaving one with himself. "I will give you one minute to decide. And, after that, the drifted ones will attack." "Bookwyrm," Thaidakar swooped down, grabbing the rampart and staring Bookwyrm in the face, "I will not hesitate to kill you if you will not stop the attack for Kaos. Despite the good in you, if it needs to be done, it shall be done, my friend. I will do it with tears, but I shall do it." Before Bookwyrm could respond, with a gust of wind, Thaidakar swopped back next to the remaining one Soulless. The Drifted one gave him an odd look, but said nothing. The timer began in Thaidakar's head and he smiled thinly. He hoped beyond hope that Bookwyrm would be able to surrender. For, he would hate to kill another friend.

Summer break means no school computer to use so very infrequent posts. Very unfortunate for stuff like the Clinic where we're at a climax :(

  5. Count of Monte Cristo is an amazing work of art. Got to this one chapter that was so thoughtfully written, so well foreshadowed, so well done, amazing character work. The Count is one of the best characters in fiction.

I went to this spectacular all-you-can-eat pizza place. So gooood.

I have found myself writing more depressing pieces of writing lately. Which... makes sense, tbh. This has been one heck of a ride, moving that is. It's been a nice place to throw the negative feelings from it. So, sorry if most of the things I post in my creative corner thread is dreary and generally filled with hopelessness. This one piece that I'm working on will have an ending with a really nice redeeming quality. If you like reading random stuff posted by internet strangers, watch for some things popping up over the next few days over at my thread for creative stuff.

Monte Cristo is worth it. The unabridged version from Penguin is stellar. Though the first 200 pages are exactly as you'd expect from what you ordinarily hear, it gets reeeeaaaaly good really fast.

This isn't really a spoiler, but- I still want a detective thriller set in Rome with two frenchies. now to add on the spoilers.

      Spoiler

Franz and Albert were awesome there. If only that sequence was fully explored and turned into a full length novel. I would totally read it.

And yeah Count of Monte Cristo is such a great book! I usually don't enjoy classics, but I remember being absolutely riveted by it as a kid.

      Spoiler

the chapter where Mercedes goes to Edmond and convinces him not to kill Albert.

Definitely best chapter in the book.

I read one of the abridged ones a few years back and thought I knew what the ending for one of the characters would be, but then that's (so far) been flipped on its head.

  6. Season one was the first bit of MCU I ever saw, somehow. It was fantastic. I hope season two is amazing. I always want more Natalie Holt music and more of my boy Tom Hiddleston.
  7. That's pretty good, I'll give ya a rotten fish for it, great for keeping unwanted guests away! I got this odd sword, it keeps telling me to destroy evil. Anyone want the lil bugger?
  8. Defiant, Loki, Secret Invasion, Across the Spiderverse cause I haven't seen that yet, clips of any bit of Shadow and Bone show stuff cause I don't got Netflix, anything that Sanderson will put out, the rest of the secret projects, Obi-wan: Trials of the Master, more Intentionally Blank always. That should be about it, I think.
  9. Promptings are funny things, aren't they? Today has been... very interesting. Very spiritual, I chatted with my old bishop for like an hour about different scriptural things. But like... for various things I can't say, today has been one heck of a ride.
  10. Fluffy tilted its head, reaching for the spider-like device. It took it and stuffed it in a hidden pocket in its fur. "I am Fluffy the Third, legionnaire of the twelfth Negankerdakian legion, champion of the Supreme Furrball Fantabuloso, whose name is Cheddar. And you are?"
  11. Experience... Choices... Wait, who am I? My choices... Our choices... Who am I? This experience... the shadows.. the hidden messages... Who am I? Do I have a choice..? Does anyone have a choice...? Is Nomad real or is he merely an illusion...? Who am I?
  12. I have been returning to form, aka writing more often. So, here is a dump of some writing. Falling. Immortality Before I put in this last one, a bit of an explanation is necessary. This is about one of my role-play characters that I will never play again. Despite that, he is one of my favorites. It should make sense, and whatever isn't there should be able to be guessed. This is "I remain." The first two scenes were born of a melancholic mood intermixed with my new love of poetic, beautiful prose and description. (RIP my reading of Wheel of Time.) If any of y'all have criticism for what I've written here, I would love to hear it.

It would take a looooong time to look through all of those.

  17. Fluffy blinked, looking at the person named Fuzzy, "And you are..." It tilted its head, "I do not want to insult you. Apparently it's rude to call people's looks what they are in most places." It continued watching the odd being calling Fluffy adorable.
  18. Thaidakar watched the fortress for a long moment, the soulless stirring behind him in their own conversations among themselves. He felt a smile creep onto his face. This was his chance. His chance to change it all for his good. His chance for redemption. He turned to the Drifted ones and the others, "Well? You heard the Creator. We must fight." Unbeknownst to Thaidakar, a look of nobility and leadership seemed to fall onto his face. This was what he was born to do. "I will assault the cliffs with the Drifted ones. The rest of you, follow orders from the Creator and pray for our victory. For the clinic! For the Creator!" And, with that, Thaidakar became lit with red energy and something else. Something deep within him. Thaidakar wasn't merely the chosen of a dark god. He was soulless. And that accounted for something. Behind him, the Soulless nodded, approaching him. Thaidakar turned, giving them a look. One nodded, "We chose this, let us commence this war." The others said similar things and Thaidakar smiled. Thaidakar felt the power crackling over him, and a possibility formed in him. The soulless said to his companions, "We have been in the void outside for long centuries... long millennia, my friends, my allies, my kin, drifted ones. Let us do what we were born to do. The void is ours." Thaidakar began to change, as did the others. Their forms warped, shifting and stretching. Finally, their true forms were revealed. The soulless were dark creatures, a sort of reverse glow surrounded them, flowing silvery hair coming like rivers from their heads. They were coated in dark steel scales with carved purplish runes on them, each a different rune. The Soulless were dragons. One of them glowed red, its eyes shining brightly. Thaidakar moved his serpent body to face the cliffs and grinned. In a deep, distinctly draconic voice, Thaidakar said, "It is time." And, with that, they moved through the air like fish in water towards the cliffs. @InfiniteInsanity @The Wandering Wizard @Being of Cacophony
  19. Here's my take. At the end of book five, Kaladin will die indirectly by some sort of decision of Moash's. Moash will be redeemed just before that and, filled with regret, will leave and become a hermit. THEN in the back half, Moash will become either a Gandalf sort of character or will be like Dalinar. I can see Moash being a key part in winning at the end of Stormlight. After he becomes a hermit in this alternate reality, he could encounter a grown Gavinor and explain himself to him. Gavinor could almost kill him and then decide not to. (This could alternately happen in Stormlight five with Gavinor being Odium's champion and murdering Moash right then and there. And then right after that fight Kaladin and kill him too.) Moash has the potential to have an awesome redemption, considering the way Brandon has written him thus far. I actually want a redemption for him. But that doesn't mean I don't hate him. I absolutely despise him for killing my boy Teft. But, redemption is in the cards, I think. A lot of things could happen is all I'm saying here.

  22. Fluffy tilted its head, "Odd." Fluffy padded away, spirals of energy, seemingly unnoticed by Fluffy, trailing behind it. With every step, a path made of worn stone bricks formed.
