I think that you could probably heal back a Biochromatic Breath taken via Hemalurgy, but only if it was the Breath you were born with, as that seems to be closer to being a part of you, and it even carries pieces of you even when given to someone else. Breaths gained and lost that came from someone else probably can't be healed back, since they are centered more in the physical Realm and never really were a part of your Spiritweb. I also think that if you gave up your Innate Breath using Nalthis's normal system instead of it being stolen, you may be out of luck, as there isn't a lot of damage to be healed, the Breath was just cleanly removed.
  2. Feruchemists can tap their attributes to gain greater abilities than would humanly be possible. So, since a Connector Ferring can increase their friendships with others, then if a Connector Ferring were to tap enough Connection while being near someone else, would that individual grow to like them more than would be natural? Would they get obsessed with the Ferring or "like" them to a zealous degree? And would the feelings of friendship stay after the Ferring had stopped tapping Connection, or would the formed Connections remain in place? Sounds somewhat creepy, actually. And that's coming from a Hemalurgic enthusiast.
  3. I think that this would be really nice to watch, and that it would help progress Adolin's character. I also think that having characters without mighty magical powers is nice to see, since we have so many Radiant characters in SA now. I was actually kind of sad when Navani got a Spren Bond to be honest, as I really liked seeing her use her intellectual abilities to overcome obsticals rather than just using Stormlight to fix the situation. Don't get me wrong, the magic powers are awesome, but having some variety is nice. With that all said though, I would make an exception for Maya and Adolin, as I would love to watch them grow into something greater together, and becoming a Radiant with a healed Spren would be well worth the trade.
  4. Huh. Based on some of the points made by Quantus, Frustration, and alder24, I wonder if a Connector Ferring would gain Surgbinding powers if they tapped enough Connection while Bonded to/summoning a Deadeye Shardblade? That would be pretty interesting to see.
  5. 1. I find this extremely unlikely, as compounding fuels whatever power you are using with Preservation's Investiture, not whatever Investiture happened to be used for the power previously. So, if you compounded an absolute ton of the metal, maybe you would become more willing to not destroy stuff, similar to how... Warbreaker spoilers. 2. No. Even if compounding used Ruin's Investiture and not Preservation's, you would need to have no Vessel currently holding the Shard and you would need so much Investiture that it would be comparable to the Well of Ascension. Even then, it still likely wouldn't work, as channeling Investiture to do work doesn't seem to necessarily create a Connection between you and the Shard in question. 3. If it is possible, the Lord Ruler likely knew of it, since he gained an intimate knowledge of Allomancy and Feruchemy when he Ascended. However, I think that Returned is right. Future sight seems to be more a property of oneself being closer to the Spiritual Realm than having a "sense" that is directed in that way. I think that if you could Feruchemically store Allomantic Atium's Investiture, it would more likely be done with Nicrosil, though it seems to store the ability to use Invested powers and Innate Investiture (such as Biochromatic Breaths) more than Kinetic Investiture, which means that it probably isn't even possible to store Atium's foresight in a Metalmind.
  6. It is worth noting that the quicker a Feruchemist taps their Metalmind, the less efficient they the Investiture becomes. So a Feruchemist who stored away 10 hours of being half as fast wouldn't be able to go 10 times as fast via steel Feruchemy for an hour, they would probably have would only have minutes (but we can't be certain how much attribute is lost yet). Even so, a Full Feruchemist who had 10 hours of attributes stored up and who had trained with their Feruchemy would have a very good chance of defeating a Mistborn with the same level of training, because a Feruchemist can tap speed, and even if they were only moving 10 times as quickly for less than a minute, heck, even 3 or 4 times as quickly, they would very likely overwhelm the Mistborn. And that's not even taking into account that the Feruchemist can tap health to regenerate and store pain via tin Feruchemy to overcome most injuries. The best for way a mistborn to would win is if they somehow fought very, very unfairly (which is how they prefer to do buisiness anyway), or perhaps if they fought as Tglassy suggests, and never lets themselves touch the ground and uses entire clouds of deadly spinning metal. The Mistborn also might be able to get away with sapping away the Feruchemist's stores of Investiture with chromium, but they would need to get uncomfortably close to someone with the strength, speed, and sheer weight of ten to twenty people, which is likely what the Feruchemist wants in the first place. Atium might also allow a Mistborn to win, but Feruchemical steel would likely make it much less effective than it would normally be, as the Mistborn is still limited by their own physical speed and the Feruchemist could see how the Mistborn moves and pull a Vin. Plus, Feruchemical chromium can grant its own version of future sight, which may be able to negate or at least reduce the power of Atium. I'm certain that Allomantic bendalloy would be useful for the Mistborn if they needed to re-position themselves and put some distance between them and the Feruchemist, but it wouldn't likely be as useful in this fight as Feruchemical steel or zinc. Especially if the Feruchemist manages to close the gap between them and their opponent, as the Mistborn would catch the Feruchemist in their own bubble of sped up time. The last thing to consider on the Mistborn's side is duralumin, and the massive amounts of damage that steel and pewter could be used for if the Feruchemist got caught up in it. So, it probably could go either way, depending on the battlefield, the level of training of each combatant, and the levels of Investiture available to each, but a Feruchemist does have a sizable advantage if they can store enough attributes, especially speed and health, for the fight ahead of time.
  7. I had a thought about Hemalurgy. What if you Hemalurgically transferred the Healing power of a Bloodmaker back to themselves, and they use previously stored health to repair the damage. After that, you give the spike to another individual. Since the Hemalurgic spike contains a portion of the original Bloodmaker's spiritweb, which includes some of their Identity and Connection, would both Bloodmakers have a kind of spiritual Bond between them? It would be pretty interesting to see if they could use some form of telepathy, or at least have some kind of awareness of each other. This doesn't actually seem that unreasonable to me, as we see something like this in SA. RoW spoiler. It would be pretty cool to see Wax and Wayne do this, as they would be an even more powerful duo than before, and I could totally envision Wayne saying to Wax, "look mate, just poke me with the needle real quick like, and then you can grow fingers back too!" or something.
  8. I believe that I actually asked that very question at one point. Probably, though it would be a bit weird, though probably not more than seeing through a chunk of metal. Now, what if you shoved a Hemalurgic spike up your nose? Maybe you can pull a Lift and smell magically.

  10. If you were to drive a Hemalurgic spike through the eye of a blind person, would they be able to see again, albeit through Steelsight? What if they had completely lost an eye, but you put the spike through the socket?
  11. I think that it is also possible that you simply can't increase your Lifesense beyond a certain amount. For example, you could only make your hearing so acute before physics simply didn't allow it to be enhanced further; you still need sound waves to reach your eardrum to hear whatever you're trying to hear. No matter how sensitive your hearing is, you won't be able to hear beyond what is physically possible. But we don't know enough to be certain yet.
  12. In Hemalurgy, Innate Investiture can be stolen and granted to someone else. Would it act more like an Invested power, like with Awakening, or more like an attribute? Because if it's more like a power, then you might be able to graft in onto someone as you might a Steel Inquisitor, rather than like you would a Koloss.
  13. Even though Hemalurgy is pretty cool, I'd probably go with burning the Lerasium. Even if you got a bunch of enhanced attributes, it seems that attributes bestowed by Hemalurgy turn humans into Hemalurgic constructs, such as Koloss, Chimera and the like. I don't really want to be a mutant, flesh-warped creature, even if I have permanent super-attributes. Plus, I don't know if you can Hemalurgically steal the Invested enhancements provided by Allomancy and Feruchemy, with the exception of spiritual Feruchemy since it may actually change your Spiritweb temporarily. IF you could get a Lerasium spike to enhance your abilities without major changes to your physical aspect, and IF you could supercharge the attributes in a way that could be transferred to the Hemalurgic spike reliably, I would go with the Hemalurgic aspect of Lerasium because heightened memory, intelligence, strength, physical speed (which is I believe is actually included in iron Hemalurgy), senses, and innate Investiture (I think that it's an attribute?) all would be too good to ignore.
  14. We've seen in Stormlight that a Cognitive Shadow with decay and travel to the Beyond when captured in a polestone, so if you used a Raysium dagger with a Perfect Gemstone to capture a Shade, would the Cognitive Shadow fade away and leave you with a Gemstone of Ambition's Investiture?
  15. I recently re-read the first trilogy of Mistborn when I noticed something that I hadn't before. The Inquisitor that vin and Elend fight in the beginning of the book has a pewter spike through the heart, granting him Feruchemical steel (HoA pg. 50). However, Penrod later gets a bronze spike containing Allomantic copper pierced through his heart (HoA pg. 294). On the Hemalurgy table the heart sits between both the physical bindpoints and the mental bindpoints, which is probably why this is possible. I believe then that you could possibly create a Hemalurgic spike made of two or more metals, containing two or more respective powers, and then put them into the same bindpoint, so long as it was one that could work for either Hemalurgic quadrant. I doubt that you could have a universal bindpoint though, one that could hold any and all powers, because it would require a bindpoint that was right between the physical, mental, and temporal areas, rather than between two.
  16. Gold compounders can become savants, which does allow them to heal from basically anything and they even lose the psychological cost of harm as well, since they can't feel pain anymore. Allomantic pewter savants also can lose the feelings of pain, but they can still die from extreme exhaustion or serious injuries, and they can't feel pain to warn them of those dangers anymore. My question is then, can they tap pain from an Unsealed Tinmind so that they can be warned of things that could kill them if not treated?
  17. No, Wayne could not have survived the explosion, even with Feruchemical Gold. Even if he were to theoretically have enough health stored up, his metalminds would likely be either vaporized, or at least melted and blasted far from his body.
  18. My guess is that you get a more powerful power if the two spikes contain the same power. If they are the same metal but two different powers from the same Hemalurgic quadrant, it's possible that you would get a spike that granted two separate powers - assuming, of course, that you can use certain bindpoints for multiple powers. I don't know if Hemalurgy is the way to achieve this. In fact, Hemalurgy doesn't even allow for the creation of resonances in most circumstances. I think that is possible through extremely powerful Allomancy, which could be achieved through Hemalurgy. I actually had that thought too! You would have to be a compounder to do so, or have Hemalurgically granted Feruchemical gold, but yes, this should be possible.
  19. Good points. So, even if an Elantrian did have resistance to the regular super-sharpness that Shardblades have, they probably wouldn't be immune to the blade's edge.
  20. Hmmmmmm. I'll have to try really hard to figure mine out (sarcasm). Hemalurgy is my favorite magic system because it fills the role of the "dark and forbidden magic" that shows up in many works of fiction, but is actually good (well constructed, that is. not necessarily good morally). Dark magic in fiction often is supposed to grant some edge to the villains, making it harder for the heroes to overcome them, but also is supposed to be unusable by said heroes because it is morally inflexible and, somehow, always completely evil in it's use, but the dark magic almost never has a decent explanation as to why. It just simply is. I hate that. Hemalurgy is complex enough and versatile enough that a person could use it for a lot, but its mechanics are sometimes so beautifully simplistic that I can actually understand them. Hemalurgy also does provide a huge amount of potential power the people willing to use it, but not an inconceivable amount; it has understandable limitations on how powerful it can make someone, and it has a real, understandable cost, the Hemalurgic weakness of damaging and opening up your Spiritweb, not some mumbo-jumbo about your soul being corrupted by the Ancient Evil of the Universe. If you've seen the Sorcerer's Apprentice or What if: What if Doctor Strange lost his heart instead of his hands, or other stories where a villain can continue to pretty much indefinitely increase their power level by consuming other's magic, it can be kind of annoying, because why aren't they just unstoppable? Why not hype up on magic till you can snap your fingers and just blow up half the continent on a whim? They could do it, because there is not mechanic says they can't; Hemalurgy has a mechanic to stop that though (multiple, actually), but still allows for a smart person to gain enormous power. Which is Awesome. Plus, Hemalurgy can be used in non-evil ways, such as if you get consent to remove Investiture, and if you heal them back to their original state. And there are a huge number of hacks you could possibly use with it too (which I won't mention here, because this post is long enough already). To summarize, Hemalurgy fills the roll of the super-powerful magic that can create being of enormous power, but has understandable mechanics and limitations that a smart person could exploit, and it's not inherently evil.
  21. Could a Fused possess a deceased body if it were repaired via the Surge of Regrowth? Also, as a side question, could a Fused Possess a human vessel if the human and Fused were both willing?

Since Savantism leads to a person getting pulled closer to the Spiritual realm, and we know that Hemalurgically stealing from an Elantrian is more efficient than stealing from other Invested individuals because they are closer to the Spiritual realm, would Hemalurgically stealing from a Savant be more efficient than stealing from a normal Invested individual?
  23. An Elantrian's skin has a distinct metallic cast to it. Could this be because it's laced with so much Investiture that it act's as the Dor's Godmetal? Could they block a Shardblade with their limbs?
  24. If an Awakener were to turn a Fused's corpse to create a Lifeless, would the Lifeless have the skills of the Singer/Listener that the body originally belonged to, the Fused's skills, or both?
  25. I think that Atium being radioactive would have a really cool little thematic undercurrent to it. But unfortunately, I don't see enough evidence to support it at this time, and while Brandon might use this idea in the future, it might not have occurred to him during Atium's creation, and therefore may not be able to be added in at a later time.
